Week ending 17th February, 2013. Report by Phil Dixon of Seighford Lakes

Another fantastic weeks fishing has been had by all at Seighford lakes again with plenty of fish coming out to various methods and over both lakes.  Floating line or sink tips have been taking the most fish this week with lures or larger Nymphs working well, The water is getting clearer every day so the smaller flies will soon be on the trouts minds with good hatches of small buzzers coming off over the weekend.

Both lakes had a good fresh stock of fish this week which always helps the fishing because i believe that the new fish are very willing to take and also they will liven up the older fish.  Tony Sunderland showed the way on the weekend landing 13 Rainbows up to 8lb all on a Green/ White fritz 2ft under the indicator, Tony caught all over the swan neck pool including the new spot opened up in the Bay behind the Island.  Plenty of the larger fish have been out this week but no one quite managed a double with the best weighing 9lb 10ozs which was taken by Jim Taylor from Bridge-north.  Jim tempted the fish off the Railway pool on a Yellow egg fly.

Hopefully the weather will stay nice like the weekend the lake will clear buzzers will hatch and the fish will start feeding near the surface.  Don’t forget about the World Small Water Championships which are being held here on the 16th March over both trout lakes and there are still a few places left, every angler will receive a fly line just for entering ring the lodge for more details 01785 282967.

Hopefully see you down here soon.
