Getting to new venues is all part and parcel of angling. The anticipation of trying a different stretch of river, a ‘new’ lake or a stretch of coastline is what gets us up a stupid-O’clock in the morning, when normal people are sound asleep! Sat-nav helps more and more anglers reach their destination on time nowadays, and the price of these systems has come down considerably over the past couple of years.

Dixons recently sent us a list of their top-ten sellers and it was great to see a name that we recognised and trusted on there. That name is Garmin.

Most boat anglers will have used Garmin navigational aids over the years. They were making them when most of the companies that have jumped on the bandwagon these days hadn’t even been thought of.

We haven’t tried the Garmin Nüvi 250, but if it’s in the Dixons top ten, then it must be selling in droves to a knowledgeable buying public. And, at the time of writing, it is just £137.80.

This is what the Dixons website says about the Garmin Nüvi 250:

"The Garmin Nüvi 250 offers a simple yet functional navigation system at great value for money. The Nüvi 250 is housed in a slim contemporary design with a touchscreen for ease of use.

The Nüvi 250 features a 3D view display and comes with full coverage of Europe pre-installed on the GPS. By simply entering the destination, the Nüvi 250 takes you there with the help of 2D or 3D maps and turn-by-turn voice directions so you’ll never be lost again!

Route creation can be easily customised so you can choose the shortest distance, fastest or even an off-road route. Avoidance of motorways and toll roads can also be input into the system. Custom points of interests can be added to those already featured on the Nüvi 250 and it also comes with handy tools such as a currency converter, world travel clock and calculator.

The rechargeable Li-Ion battery can last up to five hours and the package includes a vehicle suction cup mount, power cable and dashboard disc. The Garmin Nüvi 250 is a fantastic GPS navigation system and will serve you well for sure. Check out the accessories that can be purchased along with the Nüvi 250!"
