Every kid reacts to praise FFS.

Of course they do.

...............but how can you guarantee it'll be the best reaction for them?

Tell them the TRUTH.

Praising a kid is ok ,praising a kid infront of another kid or class full of kids definitely not ok

I went to tynecastle school for a year after moving up from bromley (obviously upset my parents enough to get sent to granny for a while) anyway 3 months in at assembly one memorable day the headmaster called me up onto the stage and said words to the effect of this we laddie has come up from england and is already ahead of his year! I got several kickings for this idiots mistake.

In those days when you went to another school you started the year again ,so go up in the third year you started from scratch again so in reality if the schools had pretty well the same teaching methods you already had done most of the work the year before so rather than clever it was just a good memory.

When i went back down i again redid the third year and was the oldest boy not in the six form and left school missing the vital last two years .

So praise the brats but do it carefully

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

There is only one opinion i listen to ,its mine and its ALWAYS right even when its wrong

My sister in law is an SEN TA and she is quite literally not allowed to say anything negative to a child about their performance or their behaviour. They can be as lazy and disruptive as they like and they will ALWAYS be praised for it and nobody will ever tell them the truth about the short and long term consequences of their actions.

Strikes me as a formula for academic failure, lost oppertunities and a fast track into the prison system when they reach 16 and all of a sudden actions have real legal consequences.
