  1. You can still catch grayling when there's ice in the edges.
  2. Hi and welcome to the forum,I was given an alcock flickem and I bought a tfg xpin, compared to alcock the tfg is not that good so I don't use it that much ,the alcock even runs in very slow current,do you know any one who can lend you a good reel,if you buy a cheep one that doesn't work that good it might put you off.The way you load your line onto the reel can also make difference, some people prefer it clockwise, some anticlockwise.
  3. Got mine yesterday,I'll probably watch no7 tonight.
  4. Ordered mine last night, hope it arrives as fast as the last three, maybe I'll have it next week.
  5. Can anybody advise me on how to repair my neoprene waders,I punctured them on sunday on a barbed wire fence,Ihave only had them six weeks so I don't want to be buying a new pair yet.
  6. It can't have been that bad can it?you must have caught fish with it to want to take up fishing again. There is a lot of tackle in the shops that is designed to catch anglers rather than fish(especially for carp fishing.like rusty says you could just use your old tackle with new line and hooks, then build your new tackle up a bit at a time.
  7. Whats wrong with your old stuff?I still use a float rod I bought second hand 25 years ago,to some it may look like old tat but I have had some nice fish using it.
  8. No,I always look ,It amazes me how people can walk miles along a canal without realising whats in it.I caught a 14lb mirror carp, and a passing woman looked and said "ooh look at that, did you catch that in here?"my mate muttered under his breath "no we caught in the river and carried it all the way up here" .Another time I was stood watching a pike of about 10lb,and a cyclist aproached at speed, when he realised what I was looking at he jammed is brakes on and his girlfriend crashed into the back of him.I think people walk along a canal with tunnel vision,I have seen some huge fish in the canal but walkers don't seem to realise whats in there.
  9. I sent sae to angling times for a two hour dvd on coarse fishing, when it arrived it had free please take one printed on the cover, obviously an over production of a promotional dvd for tackle shops to give away, and it was the most boreing I had seen,I threw it straight in the bin
  10. Irrisponsible dog owners are the worst .

  13. What is cyanide actually used for?
  14. I was fishing the river aire at broughton, skipton yesterday an I saw my first ever wild otter,It may not sound like much to some of you,but round here they are practically none existant.
  15. I have been advised to use long hairs when fishing for barbel using hair rigs, this way(he said)you avoid catching as many chub.So I suppose this would suggest you can use a short hair rig to catch chub.
  16. Theres a car boot sale near me every sunday, but when I have been, there seems to be row after row of tat,so I stopped going.I went to skipton market and bought three brand new spinners for a quid and caught a small pike (about 4lb)the first time I used one,now thats a bargain. There were all sorts of bits and bats of tackle for a quid (most of it rubbish)some of it looked ok though.
  17. It looks very tranquil,it would be sacrilidge to clear the lily's and cut the tree's back.
  18. Are there any canals near you?they are usualy stacked with perch, and you may even get a few jack pike
