  1. Was supposed to be doing a match this weekend but can't make it now. Suppose that gives me more time to prepare. I think i will see the bailiffs and see what they say, but as you say I think I am better with 2 nets anyway, because you never know I might like the matches and make them a regular thing..
  2. I want to start fishing a few open matches, I don't yet own a keepnet having never fished matches before. Whilst looking at various keepnets I have noticed a few things. My question is could I manage with a cheapo keepnet FishFriendly/AF approved of course. Or do I need two, a silverfish net and carp net. Whats the main differance with these two nets or do some people just use one and keep all species in one? I know that on some waters larger carp are weighed and returned imediately after capture.
  3. I have been pluggin' for pike, nothing out of the flashes or canals unfortunately, but I have had a load of jacks from the duggy, that was before it flooded though. Are you the guy I have seen sat on the wall at JJB?
  4. I do enjoy catchin' um but then again some ponds seem to have nothin' else in. Has anyone tried one on the table yet?
  5. Which local would that be "the duggy?", I have noticed even the flashes are higher than normal, I'm supposed to be out for a session on Sunday but we will see about that one?
  6. How about starting to cull carp, they seem to breed worse than any other fish.
  7. Stainless thermos flasks are brilliant, I always use one of these for work, keeps hot for about 16 hours. Still warm long after. Best advice would be to buy a proper stainless "thermos" flask. They last for ever too, I have two of these both two litres one of them now resembles an egg it has been dropped that many times and it still does the job perfectly.
  8. Look under flags, carpets etc or any other stuff on the ground, Get a compost bin and throw a few worms in it they will change sex and breed. Or, if you have a spare corner in the garden get a bail of straw from a local farm and let it start to rot in a corner. I used to do this and the worms seem to love it got loads!
  9. All the Cormorants, have left the fisheries and come to my back yard where they have successfully emptied my pond Where that wet hole was placed stand some nice new 2x2 flags! Oh well at least it's now maintenence free.
  10. Matnewmans camera man here. I didn't realise that was your first gudgeon, was a decent size too! Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of that one but I did catch you once trying to bundle carp into your jacket. Sorry mate I couldn't resist.

  12. I went up 4 a walk round with a mate. And yeah it has changed a bit in the last ten years or so. We saw a bloke walking the footpath and had a bit of a chin wag with him as noone was fishing. That was interesting, he said the owner is a right wierdo and that the owner had set his dog on him once!!! A mate of a mate said it was alright for pike but crap for out else only bits!
  13. I have a maver Deploy (cheapo compared to yours), my power 2's are take apart and the match 3 is telescopic 1 to 2 but 2 to 3 is take apart. I think yours will more than likely be the same.
  14. Bispham Hall fisheries, in billinge at the side of the brickworks. Has anyone fished here before? I used to swim there as a kid, I have now noticed this has become another fishery. Im willing to give it a shot but I couldn't find any info on Google. So does anyone have any idea whats in this place fish and sizes, and also how it fishes? Thanks.
  15. Thats a shsme I have never caught a, rubber coated mammal before!
  16. ....and if i fish next to you, you would probably see me make them reappear. Only kidding, I seem to make um vanish too.....
  17. Me and my Dad owned a boat for sea fishing, came the time we needed a new trailer, twelve months later the new trailer was knackered, you see we never greased the bearings. If you get the boat look after the trailer just as well.
  18. I have only just bought a pole last year, always used rods before. I have used solid elastics in mine mainly because im a bit tight, are the hollows that much better or is it just down to personal preference?
  19. I like a reel to make a bit of noise, but it winds my mate up when I fish next to him he cant stand it!
  20. Thanks Newt. Been looking before and picked up a few tips, hope to stay.

    Hello

Sounds like me that, I go round the flashes on the bike. Started taking mates though (they only come when the pike are showing) they dont have bikes so i end up in the car.
