  1. The central locking has always operated the boot lock from the outset. All of a sudden the boot lock could not be unlocked or locked unless the key was used in the lock. The rest is as said, flat battery for over 12 hours then jump leads to get it started and from that point the boot now can be locked or unlocked via central locking control on key.
  2. There be Whales here by jove. Whilst fishing our local river on a bright sunny day my Son landed his best ever Perch. Weighed in at 3lb 2 Ounces. Best Perch of the year according to the Bailiff and the angler sitting behind my Son. Later her lost another large Perch estimated at 2lb+ but this beauty made his day, he was even replaying the landing of the fish in his sleep last night. " Don't lose it!!!" He screamed....
  3. The issue with the boot mechanism has been ongoing for 8 weeks. I could only open the boot by inserting the key into the boot lock and it would not function from the central locking. The flattening of the battery happened only 3 days ago and since the battery was recharged the boot lock now opens and closes via central locking. Now, the flattening of the battery must have re-set something within the system thus allowing correct operation of the boot locking mechanism. After jump starting I drove the car for over 4 hours so no danger of it dropping again.
  4. Recently I experienced an issue with the central locking mechanicasm on the boot of my Vauzhall Astra, however much I tried I could not get it to engage unless it was manually operated. My Wife, bless her cotton socks, flattened the battery after forgetting to turn off the lights. After getting a jump lead start I obviously had to reset certain electrical units, like the radio. I then finished and locked the car using the central locking key. I heard an old familiar clunk from the boot and then unlocked the car via the key. To my surprise the boot lock had re-engaged and was operating correctly again. So perhaps this is a remedy for this particular issue?
  5. Was in Morrisons the other day and the checkout operator, female, asked me if I needed help with my packing. Starting to banter I stated that the wife asked me the very same question earlier in the day. As everything went through she asked me if I wanted a bag to which I replied that " Sorry, but i'm already married." She burst into tears and I was left like wow. Quietly paid for my stuff and left...
  6. Why blame the Government? Doesn't the blame lie with the manufacturers who never tested their own product? Multi million pound companies often become lazy or complacent and do not follow through their product from start to finish. It is much cheaper to close ones eyes and take the word of the supplier; that is until a scandal occurs. They then rush around feigning shock and outrage blaming everyone else for their woes. Big companies have the facilities, the money and the bodies to undertake their own checks. They just choose not to. As a young man I worked in a Butchers and every week my employer checked and double checked not only what he purchased but what he produced. I remember once that a YTS trainee made the mistake of putting Pork mince into Beef burgers. As it was a genuine error there were no penalties for the poor lad. My employer when he found out, after doing one of his checks, before the items came to the shop floor, removed them from the main sales fridge. They were quite safe to eat, obviously, but could not be sold as Beef Burgers. I ended up buying them and enjoyed them for many weeks. If a small retailer can do his best to ensure he is only selling what he is listing then companies like Findus have no excuse.
  7. I was gonna say, he has really put his foot in it now..... :whistling:
  8. I'm still waiting for Bruce Willis to go up and save us.... Clear skies tonight where do I look?
  9. Guys remember that the guy is only charged and not convicted. How many people have been falsely accused? Previously the charges were dropped. I have seen first hand the damage done when people are accused of sexual offences and then acquitted. The stigma of being charged never leaves you. If he is found guilty then he needs to receive the maximum sentence, but I thought it was always innocent until proven guilty. Maybe times change.
  10. THE MANAGER OF MY LOCAL TESCO WENT HOME AFTER GETTING FED UP REPLYING TO ALL THE JOKES. HE SAID HE FELT RATHER HOARSE... NEW READY MEAL FROM TESCO----RED RUM IN A BUN. IT'S IN THE DNA-D-D-D-DNA
  11. Oh dear Rob...at least it didn't run.... :bleh:
  12. It still does not answer how the Fox got in the house. As a Father of 3 I call it negligence on the part of the parents.. You don't expose an infant to potential danger especially when neighbours readily admit they know Foxes are a problem. Still the infant seems to be recovering and being so young should not be as emotionally scarred as say with an older child.
  13. Dogs on leads and bells on bikes. Being a Dog walker, responsible for the actions of my Mutt, there are things called bends that restrict viewing. Also, If it is windy or if you're chatting it's hard to hear a cyclist as they can be extremely quiet and many are fast. Maybe if Cyclists invested in a little bell and used it as they rode, especially if there is a restriction to visibility, sensible owners would reign in their charges. Dogs on leads Bells on bikes As to Dog excremant that is left by bad owners, do what I did, collect it up in a bag and smear if over the dog owners car. They eventually get the message. @ Ken...a good old fashioned mudguard will stop fecal splashback and maybe we should introduce a cycle license with the requirement for insurance...
  14. Seems to be everywhere. Burger King are launching a new meal. RED RUM IN A BUN. Horsemeat though is not a dangerous meat to eat.
  15. Okay so how did the Fox enter the dwelling? Door left open, catflap?? I mean how does a wild Fox get in to a home unless there is a point of access.
  16. Seems to be an important question is missed. Being we are in the middle of Winter I wonder how the Fox entered the dwelling with sufficient time to attack? Any parent who leaves such a young child alone with easy access for a predatory animal needs a swift kick up the backside. I mean London not only has Foxes to contend with but Rats aswell alongside feral Cats or Dogs.
  17. The thing is Ken that my friend paid for his safety net through constant full time employment for 13 years. The removal of his entitlement has now causedmisery for him. My friend was told by the assessment officer that although she believed he was unable to work, which his ATOS report validated in its' statement, the fact that only one of his two arms was impaired, as agreed by ATOS review, meant he scored nothing. If it had been points for each arm he would have met the threshold but the assessment officer stated that the human element had been removed with the new system. Her exact words. ATOS also state that my friend, cannot walk properly or for long periods, has difficulty maintaining posture, has severe instability issues whilst on his feet, has severe issues with his right arm, has severe discomfort when sitting or standing, yet because his left arm his fine he is not entitled to ESA. No good having a job if you are immobile, exhausted through lack of sleep, doped up by your painkillers or likely as not to fall at any time. No mention was made about the fact he has very poor sleep patterns and sometimes falls asleep throughout the day, needs constant monitoring by mainstream medical professionals, all with higher qualifications than a Nurse. Has issues with his right lung that restrict his breathing when an attack occurs, which happens daily. I admit Ken that there are people who abuse the system and that they needed to be weeded out but we do not live in India and this new system seems to be one just to create misery for those genuinely sick or disabled. Personally, I would have thought that GP's, Consultant Orthapaedic Surgeons, Consultant Heamatologists would carry more influence, especially when internal pictoral evidence was available via MRI or Pictures taken during surgery, than the very limited questionaire and examination. Perhaps that's why professional medical personnel shudder at this new system.
  18. The thing is that Horsemeat is edible and in many countries is eaten. Cannot understand all the hype to be honest? Now where's my Sugar Cube? :bleh: It's in the DNA D-D-D DNA and now they've took the Burgers away D-D-DNA.
  19. @ Ken. Okay, the old DWP Incapacity assessment is the same as the current ATOS one but for one important difference. The DWP examination, under the old Incapacity system, always used a Doctor not a Nurse and involved a far more rigorous examination. Same building, same form type although the ATOS form is far more simplified and does not allow for specific detail. ------------------------------------------- My friends MP is taking up the case now personally.
  20. ATOS is being used simply because it will be easier for the Government to blame an over zealous organisation than admit that they have messed up. Incapacity medical assessments made through the DWP are no different than the ATOS examination; they even use the same medical facilities and procedures. The only change is that the Government has moved the goalpost. You still have to attain 15 points to qualify but the human element has been completely destroyed. The ATOS examination accepted and stated: My friend has severe mobility issues from which he has sustained numerous injuries from falls. Has issues with sleeping properly due to problems with his legs. Has issues with moving outdoors due to his leg conditions. Has issues with his right lung that curtails movement when under an attack. Cannot stand or sit for any length of time. Has severe issues with his right arm affecting movement of said arm. But, his left arm is so far okay. FIT FOR WORK....
  21. It is strange but the Carp do not go for the Goldfish but they seem to like darker ones. I never realised Carp predated on them until last year.
  22. My friend spoke to his Consultant Orthopeadic Surgeon yesterday and the specialist, who has over 25 years experience, has stated that the ATOS review and finding is totally at odds with the medical evidence obtained over the last 10 years. My friends GP has also concurred that the review is flawed and has promised to provide as many Sick notes as my friend needs stating that the report is diabolical. None of the professionals my friend met with can believe that ATOS used a nurse to examine my friend. All Government is doing is massaging the numbers which in reality does nothing but cause misery for those genuinely sick or disabled. My friend will never be able to work again due to his condition so I cannot see how the benefits agency can get around this one.
