  1. Whys that toad? i always run a smaller car for economy as well as the lex and the slight of hand and cunning thats put into keeping them roadworthy is as difficult as performance tuning. I suppose it would have been better to call the thread modified rather than performance as adding something to carry your tackle is in the same ballpark as the modified cars you see around
  2. Owners club track days are your friend for trying out the cars performance and that a very good choice for a utility car. I'm not that familiar with the lotus but remember anythings possible with a big enough hammer plus the amount of tuning equipment for jap cars is immense might have a look into it as an "intellectual" exercise
  3. lol its a pre problem lexus the 2jz is absolutely bulletproof and supports upto 500bhp without even looking at any of the ancilliaries and will probably be still going when the volvo has turned into a fossil or rusted away and yes all mods are declared to a specialist company its not worth my while to lose about 5-6k of supporting mods plus a car for the sake of a few pounds on insurance. You're a real ray of sunshine you are what do you do for fun read obituaries
  4. I'd suggest going looking on the lexus owners forums about carpooters one of the members did a massive amount of posting about the hows and whys and pitfalls of putting them in it may be for a lexus but its going to be pretty generic. As for cv joints eurocarparts is your friend on that one if you can do the work yourself i did the entirety of my megane driveshafts discs brakes suspension and springs all round and an air filter for under 250 notes Steve, The zeds need to be FI to be real fun and you have to do some stripping away of the excess weight but its very much horses for courses if you want a daily driver then you don't want to be pulling out alot of gear. Ever thought about the idea of an engine swap rather than going with an uprate on the lotus? and you are right its sacreligious to make the lotus a looker rather than a driver its meant to be a sports car the next step would be more basic and more handling/power not more tim westwood
  5. To give you an idea of what i work with the same tonnage of engines would produce roughly 17 164 000hp. Impressive engine nonetheless but i think it'll be a struggle to get that under the hood and still see
  6. 1Kw what exactly are you running to warrant that amount of power or do you heat the house from it too ?
  7. Hmm the things i could do with a 350z have been toying with the idea of getting one for a while but ex issues prevent enjoyment as such. I'd seriously suggest looking into an induction kit to go with the exhausts though and i bet the elise is fun around the bends
  8. You can load xp pro onto it its just a bit convoluted and requires either partitioning or a workaround, it due to windows seeing vista as a better operating system and not wanting to overwrite it. CHKDSK will only ever tell you if you have bad memory sectors and info not if you have something corrupted on the disk but the upside is that its more than likely your hdd is fine and its driver/software/os based. I am wondering if its redownloading an update etc after you repair which may be causing the issue but the fact it is booting at all means that it can be fixed relatively easily recovering from a non starting pc is alot harder. We'll see what the codes are later and will try to find a solution
  9. To be fair my everyday motor is exactly the same but with the split rear seat down to get the rod bag in and no mud as the kids cleaned it at the weekend
  10. As said the network drivers/LAN/ethernet controller drivers are what does this job for you normally LAN is controlled by a particular brand such as NVidia depending on the components. Go have a look in your system/hardware profiles for its name and then find out which manufacturer supplys the driver. I know for a fact the last windows one i downloaded did exactly the same and dropped me off the net i think the nvidia forcewear one did the same, if this is a case note the release number and wait for the next edition of the drivers as they can be buggy as hell
  11. To give people something to point and gawp at and to swap tips and get infor have a new car thread Heres mine and an abbrieviated list of mods It runs a 2jz-gte hybrid twin off a stand alone engine management system with launch control4, 650cc injectors, HKS Intercooler, Greddy boost controller supplied by a 450lph fuel pump through a TRD limited slip diff onto Tien coilovers with a full TRD race chassis support and sway bar set up which gently touch the road on 19" Finelli recessed alloys. its rolling roaded at 450bhp when my new big single goes in and some different internals i am expecting to see that raise by at least 50 -75bhp (this is at the wheels btw) 4 wheel geometry is set up by Chris at Centre of Gravity mods and upgrades by yours truly. And yes i am considering nos if i can figure out how to uprate the tiptronic gearbox without having to buy a boostlogic one i'm waiting for this one to go pop as it is
  12. Right by bios i think you may mean the POST screen (power on self test), the 0x0 you will be seeing on the BoD (blue screen of death) if you can post the error codes it might be easier to find a solution. BoDs usually come from dodgy drivers or registry entries however sometimes it can be from a problematic HDD out of interest are you using a laptop or desktop machine and what make is it and have you performed a graphics/ethernet driver update? Personally i would drop vista like a bag of dog droppings and run xp or 7 you will get alot less problems. Best case with these is to find what is casuing it worst case is format the HDD
  13. Wingham sounds interesting think i'll look that up. Best trot off to make a performance car thread i can see where this is going, my 600 horses are at rest for the winter now anyway and trust me its not practical and its never going to be practical.
  14. Practical performance car surely thats an oxymoron. My performance car is anything but practical doing about 15 to the gallon
  15. For anyone who can read them this would in essence be a delkim circuit using a piezo electric crystal to sense line vibration with a sensitivity control. http://www.discovercircuits.com/DJ-Circuit...rationalarm.htm The hard bit is laying it onto a circuit board and soldering it in
  16. I agree bite alarm prices are set to reflect the constant need to be one step ahead of everyone else, its very much like car models and facelifts on cars. The basic electronics are going to be the same throughout the only differences will be whether or not another circuit has been added i.e sensitivity as well as volume and tone and the size of the alarm. Surface mounted components can make things very small or at least thin which will add some cost due to the set up of the production equipment and the programming but all in all electronic components cost pennies and even less when bought in bulk. Essentially what you pay for with named brands is the development costs but if i was cynical i could say if i bought a 5 quid alarm and put a brand name on it people would pay more. Saying that i am as prone to anyone of looking at two alarms and assuming a branded one will be better than something from aldi, i guess it just shows the advertising (read propaganda) works
  17. Just keep hold of it if needs be you can go get hold of a cheaper alternative and use that. I bought a shakspear omni and a shimano 5000rb reel to start off with and have enjoyed myself using it. Plus its not all about the gear its about the different black arts of fishing that some on here seem to be jedi masters. Trust me give it a while and you'll find a good use for it and the want to travel further afield. This fishing malarky is a constant learning curve from bait to box bungees just enjoy the journey and get used to swearing at the water like a tazmanian devil XD
  18. Can you still get soda stream irn bru mix? could attempt some irn bru boilies
  19. I have donated my organ many times but i didn't think they'd want to put it on the NHS The louvre has first dibs but if they are full i'm sure there will be a doggy bag left for others
  20. I was in the same boat a few weeks ago and someone showed me an easy way of doing it. Tie your knotless knot and put your boilie/meat/misc bait on as normal, slide the hook down the hooklength until you get it to the required distance from the bait then whip the line around the hook 5-7 times and back through the eye. Your hair rig is now finished apart from putting another loop on the other end to attach it to your rig or tieing it onto your mainline. You don't specifiacally need braid for the hooklength just a line of the right breaking strain for what you are targeting. I am sure that there are many reasons why you should use a variety of different types and others will be able to tell you more the reason why. I personally changed from flouro to coated braid after i had a fluoro hooklength letgo on me at the knot (not tried it again with a palomar yet) As for tying on have a look at the fishing knots section for line to line knots but what kind of fishing are you doing? If its ledger or method then you can tie onto a swivel or use a kwik clip arrangement. If its float i would tie a small loop into the mainline then loop the hooklength through it as per hooks to nylon but thats mainly because i have fingers like cows tits when it comes to line to line knots on the bank
  21. Well i went down and i think the perch were on strike as thats the first time i haven't seen a bundle of them when i have gone off maggots. That said i did fish the green bank rather than the hard pegs so if you do go then i would suggest staying the road side pegs 12 - 15 on that side (especially peg 13) have always produced. Also as a by the by there doesn't seem to be anything in the way of carp that side either they must all be huddling down by the cafe.
  22. Thats only a stones throw from where i work which is actually on coombe fields road :S strange way to find out about a new place to fish
  23. Well i am going to try and slope down tomorrow for a few hours and as for the irn bru goundbait as this is corby i suggest special brew
  24. Unfortunately yes i do. Oh you were talking about bait
  25. Corby boating lake you can't move for perch if you fish off maggots i have also seen one that i couldn't get in on the whip when my son was fishing i have no idea what weight it was but it was a good size. A few of the locals have been talking about 3-4lbs perch in there as well, to be honest i started fishing off strawberry pellets as i was sick of the sight of them. I may go have another go on maggots and report back but if you decide to go there make sure you mention you are local as its half the price and i cerainly wasn't best pleased when i got charged £7 to fish it the otehr day as its certainly not worth that. they do an open match on saturdays there as well if you are interested
