  7. Some advice appreciated please chaps...... I have just returned from a holiday in Majorca where I fished for the mullet and sea bream upto a pound or so.Mainly light float fishing with breadflake, 6lbs line and size 12 hooks.I bought a couple of cheap 5 foot rod and reel sets which are good fun and cheap but I want to buy a quality rod and reel which I can take away each year.Does anyone have any recommendations please....rod around 7 or 8 foot, nice small reel with a good clutch. Had a quick look at some of the Ron Thompson Gladiator spinning rods which look nice. Cheers in advance. BB

  13. Tony Contact Geoff Gonella on geoff@gonella.fsnet.co.uk I have a load of books which he has bought from me - they are being sent to him today - one of which is the Sidley book in mint condition.I also sold a mint copy of the Moriarty book to someone and this may have been Geoff too - so you might get two of them. Hope this helps
  14. paul The reason for the smell is the soya flour in the base mix - it has a natural "malty" smell which is difficult to cover up.Your baits will smell better when they have been frozen and defrosted but the smell of the soya flour will still be there. If there is a substantial amount of soya flour in the mix you will always have this smell if there is nothing else in the base mix to overpower that smell - fishmeal and/or robin red will cover it and also adding pungent flavours (like Esterblend 12,Mullberry Florentine,Monter Crab etc) will go some way to masking the soya smell. Why not try making your own simple base mixes instead if getting ripped off by the bait Co's? 8oz Fine semolina 8oz CeDe or EMP or 6oz Semolina 6oz Soya Flour 6oz Maize meal Add 10ml Olive oil, a bit of flavour and sweetner and you're away. You can then start adding fishmeal, robin red etc to your mixes to change your bait as you wish. It's also miles cheaper and usually just as effective as bait Co's mixes. 16. Hi Matt A walk around a supermarket or a Chinese/Asian supermarket will throw up some interesting additives: Marmite, vegimite, bovril etc Anchovy essence,Anchovy paste,Thai Fish sauce, shrimp block etc All will go well in a trout pellet based boilie and none will break the bank. They are all natural too so you don't need to worry too much about adding too much. Hope that helps. Butt Banger
