  1. theres pre baiting and theres chucking it in ,i take the dog close season 4 times a week down the ribble and the majority were baiting the same swims and catying half a k of halibuts.all im saying is most treat it like a lake.
  2. if you live within walking distance or a sort drive ,start baiting up,be it chub or barbel ,before now most will have had there minds on spawning ,dont do halies but something no one else his using,as long as its a quality bait, and use small particals by pva with a stone in,not somewere were sombody will be sitting come the day, keep it going in regular, were no one will spot you,and you sould have a day [or better evening depending on the clarity of the water to remember]best of luck
  3. mick brown rods from fox ,proper pike rods not carp,if you can get old of some nev fickling rods,i prefer cork handles, thats just me ,but them abbreviated ones really get coled in winter
  4. i got 2 of the1.5tc when they came out a few years ago,you can use them on the ribble in autum ,thats saying something for a 1.5,tench,bream and floater fishing, when i got mine you got a lifetime guarantee, only time they dont come out is when distance is needed, one thing all angling componys should look at is the size of the quiver eyes, not big enough for rivers...honest mate can;t go wrong
  5. remember when frank worran made his mark ,with floro pink singles, and the depth never came into it,what has been proved by artificial baits, its not the smell there homeing in on,and even in the darkest of nights.....i think there should be things we dont understand, but it boiles down to, is what catches the angler not the fish
  6. i also fish the ribble and down near the motorway you need a min of 1.75 or your goosed

  8. instead of buying the well known stones why not make your own the through ones can be difficult ,but i;ve had stones that ive made years ago still going strong, drill a hole and fill with liquid cement or haroldite{the stuff you mix two together],also get gravel ,sand dry it and cover with haroldite, then cver with sand and grit, you will be supprised how long it lasts.give it a go ,use your imaginatoins, and save money

  16. one of the major problems with feeder fishing on rivers ,is the eyes a avon rod should have bigger eyes than normal feeders, especiallywhen you are fishing upstream
  17. i use trylene sensation, its good abrasion, and you can detect every knock
  18. just watched a cd with matt hayes fishing with red line ,saying once you are fishing 4to5 ft down its invisable to a fishes optical visoin,so if thats true ,why use red boilies,so whats right,i beleive lee jacko jackson uses it,also theres a line called red ice ,which is mainly used at see
  19. when lure fishing ,its not like deadbait ,the lure if struck correct.the size the lures people are using the trace not very often touches the teeth ,as long as its strong enough for the gillrakers.most lure fisherman in america{and there is pike and walleye] use that big a lure they use 35ld amnesia
  20. i mainly use a 6ft leader ,but i would never fill the reel with it,theres no point paying all that and most staying on your reel
