  4. I Use A Centerpin to float fish for Large Barbel in the Trent & Backwaters using for one sesion abot a gallon of maggots and up to double that in hemp. I go to my local Maggot farm because it works out cheeper & I buy my Hemp from a pet shop for about £12 -14 for 56lb I have only been fishing for barbel once this season as I have just come out of Hospital & caught several Barbel the Biggest 8lb *oz. I have put the Picture in a nother threed. My Biggest Barbel caught on float tackle is 91b 12oz. I am still waiting for the 10lber hopefully this Season. To catch this fish I used about 4 pints of maggots & the same in hemp for a 7 -8 hour session [ 28. June 2003, 06:06 PM: Message edited by: mdgfishing ]
  5. When I was I lad over 40 years ago I read some articial that Vendace were caught down and around the Devon & Cornwall areas in chalk streams other than that I havn't heard much about them. I have found in a very old book this LedgenThat Mary Queen of Scots introduced the fish to Lochmaben, probable the French Courtiers with her discovered & Identified the fish, having met it first in France. Thers are also Referances to the Vendace having Very Close Relitives in Cumberland & both in the Derwentwater & Bassenthwaite
  6. Hi Countryman, I live in Lincoln & get in a fair amourt of fishing , from the Trent to the Upper & Lower Withiam, the Foss and a few Lakes so if I can help drop me an e-mail Oh and the gent above was right abot the tackle shop at Tattershall its good . I fish at that bridgr aroud Xmas till the end of the season for Quality Roach. 20-50 lb is common using Stick Wagler Pole and Whip. I do not feel the need to use a feeder however as the bite can be fast and quicker to hit on these other methods. Tight Lines M8
