Have a look at Ewido, it's a more industrial grade remover, and free to try for 14 days in the full version, but the scanner continues to work after the trial period. website here:- ewido security suite Supposedly kills 99.9% of all germs dead. It's the best adware/malware protection I've found for free. [ 22. August 2005, 11:34 AM: Message edited by: Wag ]

  9. I'd be interested to know how it's fishing too. I only live fiteen minutes away, and am thinking of taking my daughter for a days fishing, somewhere where she's pretty much guaranteed to catch, so any info on Messingham Sands would be much appreciated. Cheers [ 18. July 2005, 09:27 AM: Message edited by: Wag ]
  10. I signed up with PlusNet a few months ago and have had no problems at all. You can have unlimited e-mail addresses, all with their own passwords and easily set up. They got me connected in 5 days, and I haven't had a problem since. I have a 2Mbps link, with 30:1 contention, and (so far) unlimited usage, for £21.99 a month. I think the cheaper option is £14.99, but is a little more restricted on usage/contention. As mentioned above check the cost of hardware - set up is free, but there is a diminishing cost for cancellation over a five year period. If you already have the hardware that might be less of an issue. Transfer from another ISP might be free anyway. I bought a Netgear DG834 wireless adsl router/4port hub/firewall from amazon for less than £70, including free USB wireless adapter, which sorts out all my networking needs, and provides better security. It worked pretty much out of the box with simple set up instructions. I looked at Tiscali, Freedom2Surf and a few others, but I'm quite happy with PlusNet. [ 12. 11. A gentle scrub with wire wool gives a nice soft surface texture to the cork as well.

You could try Haiths on Supercatch for fishing baits, or Haiths for birdfoods etc.
  13. I quite agree Phil, and I'm not trying to defend the guy, it's just that I think angling as a sport could do more to promote and inform, especially with regard to youngsters.
  14. I'm not condoning the behaviour of anyone fishing out of season or without a licence, but...... ...assuming that the person fishing out of season and without a licence isn't doing it deliberately... ..how would they know they needed a licence? ..how would they know it was the closed season? ..did anybody in the tackle shop mention the requirement to have a licence before they flogged them the tackle? ..how would they know it was OK to fish for certain species with certain methods at certain times of the year, and which of those species/methods is acceptable at the moment? given that.... ..some posters on here (assuming we're mostly keen anglers) aren't sure of the rules ..the rules are probably not posted nywhere near the riverbank (unlike parking regulations etc. which are dislpayed every bl**dy where ..tackle sellers are quite happy to sell anything to anybody without a rod licence ..there is little promotion of angling outside of already known angling circles. As I say above, I'm in no way condoning fishing out of season or without a rod licence, but playing the devils advocate I do think we (Angling in general and the Government/EA)do little to make the requirements obvious. On the subject of confronting strangers on the riverbank Louise, you did exactly the right things - approached the angler in a friendly way and pointed out the error of his ways, then left it alone when the response was unhelpful. Unless you very confident of you own ability to look after yourself it's best to leave it at the friendly warning stage and walk away. Ring the EA/Police if you can, but please don't put yourself in a dangerous situation, fishing without a rod licence/out of season might pi$$ you off, but in the grand scheme of things it's not worth risking your safety.

It was probably the mention of Chester's shorts that scared her off!!
  17. Sorry Ellis, but you can't fish rivers until the season opens again on 16th June. If you have a look at the regs. on your EA rod licence (you have got one haven't you?) you'll see the closed season dates on there. If you want to go fishing in the meantime you'll need a still water or canal venue - most but not all of these don't have a closed season - but you'll still need a rod licence. Cheers Wag
  18. Cheers Macky great website and plenty of links to others. Looks like I'll be out and about quite a bit this summer and autumn. Thanks to all who've posted suggestion - it's greatly appreciated.
  19. Hi NetFull, All your suggestions sound like good ones, so I'll be taking you up on them. I'll PM you As soon as I get organised. Tyke 'I hope Haslam wins and Haydon gets a podium.' you can pick my lottery numbers for next week - Haslam gets the win (just) Haydon just off the podium, but two great rides - Harris was good too - pity about the rain, but it made the racing interesting.
  20. Cheers for the suggestions Tyke, I'll give Moortown a try. Kingfisher Lodge is only ten minutes away so I'll pop down there and do a recce - could be just the job. I'm going to Oulton Park for the British Superbikes this weekend, so I hope the weather brightens up a bit. I'm only a spectator as well now, too old/scared/slow for much else. We'll be going to Croft and Cadwell also later in the year - can't beat the sights sounds and smells of bike racing - makes Formula 1 look tame.
  21. Can anyone here give me ideas for where to fish in North Lincolnshire. We moved to Brigg late last year, so getting the house in order has taken preference, but I want to get some fishing in when the new season starts. I lived in South Ferriby as a kid, so am familiar with the Ancholme, but would like to try other venues around here that provide good quality mixed coarse fishing. I'm not averse to the odd carp session, but prefer to have chance of a bit of allsorts. All ideas gratefully received. Cheers Wag [ 27. April 2005, 12:39 PM: Message edited by: Wag ]
  22. Have a look at PlusNet as well:- 2Mbps, 30GB/month fair use, unlimited email addresses, for £21.99/month - £58 connection fee plus a bit for hardware if you don't buy your own.
  23. Have a look at Supanet or Freedom2Surf Both do good packages cheaper than BT
  24. Dr Feelgood - Bournemouth - outstanding - played for over two hours - Lee Brilleaux was just as his name suggests Thin Lizzy - in Manchester - wow Stray Cats - Huddersfield Poly - went 'cos there was nowt else to do one Friday night - they were absolutely superb - should have seen the look on Setzer's face when he almost failed to catch the vintage Gretsch guitar he'd just chucked in the air The Blues Band - also at Hudds Poly - got free tickets - Dave Kelly was red hot on slide guitar Paul Thorn - as support act for Jules Holland's R & B Orchestra in York - he was so good that JH and Co seemed ordinary! Yes - Hammersmith Odeon - Buggles line up - crap sound, crap venue, heating failed on 3 hour train journey home in February - all round bad experience
  25. Every time I see a reference to Microsoft Works I feel an irresistible urge to shout "No it $*%&ing doesn't" Rant over. Matron, where's my medecine?
