Here ya go little onions this is from my nan's "main cookery book" circa 1926ish GREEN TOMATO CHUTNEY 4lb green tomatos 4lb apples 1/2lb granulated sugar 1/2oz red chillies 2 pints vinegar 1lb shalots 3oz salt 1lb sultanas juice of 2 lemons Method:- Place the vinegar and the sugar in a pan and boil to a syrup. Tie the chillies in muslin. Chop all the other ingredients, and add, together with salt and lemon juice, to the syrup. Simmer for 2 hours-adding more vinegar if necessary. Bottle and tie down when cool. Hi chesters! I see you live in farnham, I used to have an aunt and uncle who lived in godalming near the railway station. I used to stay with them in my school holidays, and I used to fish the small network of streams called locally "the tank traps" these were (I believe) overflow streams from the river. I remember my best catch was a 6lb chub from a pool caused by two of these streams joining, the bait if I remember was a small frog which we caught on the path while walking to the river. The chub looked huge, still, I was only 13 at the time. I know this has nothing to do with this post, but I thought I would share it with you, do the streams still exist or have they been built on? rgds bluey

A very amusing piece however with regards to the longevity part I have to disagree with you there. Married men DO NOT live longer than single men, the hell and purgatory they go through being married just makes it seem as though they live longer, I should know I've just celebrated? (is that really the right word?)20yrs and it seems an eternity. As for them being more willing to die, well, it's the only way they can get any peace, so can you really blame them?

hi there yes it is that lovely fluffy thing, I can understand your saddness at having to lose it, I think it's a very brave sheep especially when it does that huge dive and starts to smoulder as it comes down the screen, lands in the bath and then looks at you with those big black eyes.
