  1. WOW!! That is an incredable piece of engineering, and what a wonderfull way to remember. Mind you I dont think I'd use it for fear of losing it.
  2. Well I dont know about anybody else but in the "religion" box I now always put Piscatorial Pilgrim it sure brings any conversation to a stop.
  3. Sounds like lot of "Richard Craniums" live there.
  4. Well it was just as I anticipated, done the docs, done the repeat prescription for SWMBO and then out to the church. Set up on arrival and off to the tree, and yes you guessed it was there for 2hrs and no sign of the pink/black ones, plenty of the orange/black ones which are clearly identified as Harlequins. Still there's always this afternoon will take the camera then as well. To add insult to injury I thought as there was no chance of taking piccys of these creatures, I would go round to the village pond area and take some photos of two delighfull and playfull little donkeys, This is probably the closest to it, except the red spots are pink in the ones I'm hoping to get a pic of. http://www.insektenwelt.ch/MeineBilder/Maria/C21994b.JPG
  5. This afternoon as per usual I took the dog for a walk in the fields behined the church in Brafield. On the way back I stopped at the churchyard gates and waited for him to finish his sniffing and snuffling around, whilst waiting I looked at the Lime tree near to the gate as it was covered in various insect life, and one of the insects caught my eye as it stood out form the rest of them. It was to all intents and purposes a ladybird, but it was black in colour with pinkish/purple spots, it was the same size as a normal ladybird and similar in every way bar the colour. Now was I seeing things or is it a real insect or is it a youngster whos not yet matured?? Can anyone identify it?? Tomorrow after I've been to the docs I'll take a trip back there, only this time I'm going to be carrying my camera this time. Yeah and whats the betting I wont find any??

    Brain Age

I scored 26 and I'm 58 so what does it prove??
  7. The Pug 406 has just been down for its MOT and passed with no trouble at all. Only thing the bloke rang up to say its on its way back to you but you've got a split in the radiator, eh?? Now there was no problem with the cooling system when it left me in the morning, it transpires they ran it up too hot and what pretends to be a header tank has a split in it requiring the rad to be replaced. After many arguments they refuse to accept responsibility for this split, so gotta fix it myself and I will not return there in the future. Now this thing has what's called Conrad fittings to hold the hose pipes to the inlet and outlet of the rad, however I have no idea whatsoever how to remove these things can anyone tell me how to do it?

Hi cobra, I had a quick look round for you and found a couple of places. Try these...... http://www.fisheries.co.uk/brickhill/index.htm http://www.fisheries.co.uk/heyford/index.htm For any more best place is your local tackle shop. Hope this helps.
  9. Can anybody tell me whether it is illegal to buy and import porcupine quills for the purpose of making floats???
  10. Does anybody collect plates with angling/fish interest on them. I was trawling through ebay and I found THIS it looks quite a nice piece and might be of interest to any collector.
  11. I once owned a 1978 Volvo 265GL auto estate and I can tell you that mine certainly did. It took us ages to work out what light had actually blown, and it wasn't until I noticed that it was only lit when we had attached the caravan to the car and we found both the tail lights were out on the van. Also I had a small panel fitted which told me when the indicators on the caravan were working. So if you own a Volvo you may well find that yours will too.
  12. I hate to tell you this, but... it already has happened again, and again, and will continue to happen. Remeber Cambodia? Rawada? (sp) Iraq (the Kurds?), even again in Europe, Serbia, Croatia, Genocide is still alive in the world somewhere today. It will continue to happen while nations turn a blind eye to it.
  13. Been to see the lads this morning after some spares and the Ecoteck is a Vauxhall thing only, but I've heard on the radio this morning that Ford are planning on going one better and offering £5000 yup £5000 for your car when you trade it in for a new one. This is Ford's initiative and not the governments. So come on Elton what does that make the new RS then?? Could you manage it?? Under the Ecoteck they get in 12 cars each a day on two transporters which make 120 cars a week, that's a lot of new cars so why do they say sales are down? Looked in the yard an they've got a 56, 57 plate Vectra, that came yesterday That's supposed to be old???? and past it?? Oh yeah it's a Vectra nuff said
  14. Actually there's been a scheme running for some months now similar to the one anounced by the government. It's called Ecoflex, and its being run by various motor companies, Volkswagen, Audi, for two of them and Vauxhall and Honda (I believe). You trade your old car in for a brand new one, one of the new super clean eco cars, and you get £1000 cash back and your vehicle is taken as full deposit. I know about this cus both my lads work for a car dismantler in Daventry and they are now so overun by all the vehicles that are coming in that they've had to obtain additional storage space. The company has been instructed that none of these vehicles are to be returned to the road and that spares can be sold from them and then what's left is to be crushed. In the time it's been running I've seen the usual crap come in, the old C, D, E, F, G, etc. reg cars which to be honest need scrapping, but on the other hand I've seen 04 plate Mondeos, 53, 04 plate Astras and even some newer cars than that, which if the truths known I would have loved to have owned myself, and can't see for the life of me why on earth people would want to get rid of such newer cars. All I can say is they can't be being affected by the credit crunch!................... Well not yet anyway.
  15. I got this email in my inbox this morning and just wondered if anybody else has recieved it and if they've signed up.
  16. I used to hate filling in the religion part of any form along with others bits. So now instead of filling it in as christian or N/A I enter it as PISCATORIAL PILGRIM. You would be surprised as to the reactions I sometimes get, it certainly shuts some up as they walk quickly away from you
  17. mmm strange, I've just clicked on the link to read all about it and I've had the addy bar at the top turn yellow and been given a warning that the website I was viewing was a suspicous site, regarding phishing and not to give them any information about myself to them. Never thought that Autosport was a suspicious website or have I got the settings on my computer wrong??? Regarding Vauxhall leaving BTCC I'm not surprised considering they're using Vectras this year, the damm things won't go round corners if they're pushed too hard. Should have stayed with Astras much better.
  18. I too was a great fan of Spike Millagna the famous typing error. Found his work extremely funny, I have a large collectionof the Goon Show both on tape, LPs, and on the main computer upstairs. I also have a small collection of books on the Goon Show scripts, his war memoirs and his crazy novel about the Irish village of puckoon. Now ole Spikey is about the only one who could dream up a story about a village where the border runs straight through the church grounds thus requiring all those buried in the republic of Ireland area having to have a valid passport before being allowed to be buried there, God knows how they coped with having to renew it, but that was Spike. I also can't believe its been that long since he died, I don't think there's any of the Goon Show cast left alive is there?? Anybody know for sure? Unfortunately for me my missus doesnt have the same sort of humour as this or me and she gets very mm what shall we say upset when I use it. I don't think he actually hated anglers and angling, it was that he couldn't see what people saw in "such a complete and utter waste of time" and that I think you'll find was his opinion on the matter.
  19. Well I might upset some of you now cus I live only a mile and a half to the west of Sywell but to my shame I haven't fished it for some years now, 25+ to be more precise In fact the last time I fished it was with my dad when he was alive and somehow I never found the inspiration to return there after all the good days we had there. I am considering returning this year so may see some of you there.
  20. Bluey is my pen name on all the fishing forums that I frequent, the name came from a small blue teddy bear that belonged to my eldest son, and considering the trouble, and adventures, that accompanied this bear I felt it an appropriate name for myself also
  21. The sellers name's not Bart Simpson is it??
  22. just found on the same news website a little piece which makes me laugh. This guy has really lost the plot, literally. http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,23333951-13762,00.html You gotta admire him for his stupidity.
  23. Cool lad there. Does he take after you BTW??
