  1. 1.How carp miss freebie mixers off the top sometimes. It's not really a mystery, just makes em look daft. 2.When you go for a whizz, why does the bite alarm go into overload?
  2. What the hell is that! It's a carpcruciangraylingfantailroach
  3. It might be a good bet to roll your own baits with some form of bait hardener. Then, air dry them in your shed or garage by hanging them up in an old net. May take a while...but it's worth it
  4. You get a lifetime guarantee with all Greys rods as well
  5. They're slim, sexy, and effing great rods. I was going to get the X-flites but went for the TFG whispers instead cos they're just a wee bit skinnier Pukka rods with a great background..ask Greys for advice about test curves/actions etc and they will help you pick the best rods for you
  6. Sensor or anything in the Sufix Range. Maxima Chameleon is probably best...if you can get it.
  7. We are the regulars! Not fished much. Done quite a lot of feature finding and altho we're on the fish the fish aren't on the bait. Naturals would be suicide as well...for obvious reasons. We;ll get there. Never given up on nethin yet
  8. Baiting and waiting wasn't the key We did forget to take a rake though. Next time bring an oval brolly that works
  9. Were you accompanied by the sweet sounds of Jools Holland followed by a firework display? [For those who ain't cottoned on, its the same lake, and its hidden away in a lovely little spot that not many people know about ] Me and Col were serenaded with jazz and blues stuff all night by Mr Holland who happened to be playing a mile down the road, but he sounded like he was at the other end of the lake. Top stuff. I wont mention Col's dancing
  10. That's funny mate I fished a similar place at the weekend with my mate too, and he tried all those things you did, as well as trying s**rce boilies at medium range catapulted into position. I've got it Col! Take a rake and a shed load of mixed particles...baiting and waiting might be the key
  11. I would add the Total Fishing Gear Whisper Carp Rods. I own a set and they're absolutely mega mate http://www.carp-uk.net/forum/uploads/Woodz...3830_Zreels.jpg They £100 BRAND NEW and come with an unconditional lifetime guarantee. Worth twice as much IMO [ 16. July 2003, 08:55 PM: Message edited by: Woodzzz ]
  12. How much is this stuff then? Never thought of it that way. [no need for shockleader] BTW, is Dynon SK any good?
  13. 50lb! Is that to combat a naff abrasion resistance or are you fishing for catfish as well as carp these days? It doesnt seem as though there would be much 'play' on 50lb line with a carp, doesnt it take the fun out of it?
  14. Nice one Colin. If those fish are are stunning as the one you've already posted it sounds like you had a right old session. Keep at it mate, you'll find urself smashing that PB ever week at this rate
  15. What BS do you use though Gaffer?
  16. 10lb Drennan Double Strength. or 10lb Drennan Micro Braid. Size 10 ESP BIG T Raptors or Size 8 Drennan Super Specialists. I've used Green Snakebite next to that weed stuff that stems from the bottom up in long lines before too. Any low diameter mono is good starter mate
  17. No mate. You're on the right track IMO. Me and a friend have this thing where we noticed that we always blanked if we had a turd before we went out on the bank. Weird. I would recommend using a mosquito SPRAY and a Sun Screen SPRAY that way ur not tainting your hands. After application of each spray, just give your hands a good wash in some wet or dry mud. PS. Add some lavender oil in your mozzie spray. Only thing i've ever found to keep em away mate and i've been all over the world [ 04. July 2003, 06:43 PM: Message edited by: Woodzzz ]
  18. It is and its absolutely beautiful. Been down in weight for a while, is the old girl okay?
  19. For me... 1 foot of 10lb Maxima Chameleon hooklength with a Knotless knot to a size 10 ESP Big T Teflon Coated Raptor. A ring swivel and an inline flat lead with the inner removed used free running on 4-6 foot of Kryston Loaded 20lb Leadcore. Simple, different, effective
  20. Mate I couldnt have asked for any better advice than that. I was planning on contacting Duncan at Rod and Gun but couldnt remember the number, so cheers for that. Thanks ever-so. I will let you know how I get on. I've been planning a feature in my weekly column about running water carping after a very good winter on the canal. cheers David.
  21. Why do u need 50lb though geezer? U taking up sharkfishing
  22. Where are the better stretches of the Severn in Shropshire for Barbel, carp and chub? I'm specifically after the carp but big chub and barbel I don't mind. Thanks guys.
  23. Bloody ell Malc where you going fishing? Get some Nash Bullet Braid mate. Pukka [despite the name on it]
  24. If you know that the carp is still there, dont move it. I've cast at shows and left it for 12 hours before the same fish i saw jump came to snaffle the bait. Might be worth using a method feeder of some sort. Looks inconspicious on entering the water and gives off a food signal and bits of food as it goes down. This usually does the trick in getting their head down Also...why not inject your worms with a syringe so they pop up cos you've filled them with air? I used this trick on many a successful bream/perching trip
