  1. There used to be a video of how to tie the knotless knot at catchmorecarp.com but it seems that site is gone? Best thing is to keep practising and practising, if you're a perfectionist like me you'll dump dozens of rigs before you're happy with the finished article.
  2. I thought this was a CARP FISHING forum. How long have catfish been a type of carp? I see ADVERTISING mentioned...where's the mods?
  3. With banana and black pepper? Pukka bait mate. Apply it well and you'll do alright this winter on that.
  4. I am pleased to say that Shropshire has a salmon run! Up in the Shrewsbury area the silver tourists are bouncing off the rocks of a weir pool as we speak. A sure sign that the condition of the water is improving, we havent had a salmon run of this size for a while.
  5. Get on the rivers matey. Trout and salmon easily stalked on, dare I say it, spinners and worms You could try a bit of fluff chucking, but you'll catch more if you dont
  6. Campers! I don't put my bivvy up until dusk. It only takes 30 seconds [the wonders of a fox evo compact] and isn't too much hassle. If you put your bivvy up beforehand you're less likely to move. I am a mobile angler, not a static camper. I don't start to 'unload' my gear until I know what swim i'm sticking in for the night. Of course, there are many baiters and waiters who like to be 'comfortable', if fishing is about 'comfort' stay and home and watch matt hayes on the telly.
  7. The Carp society owe my mate Gaz a pair of TFG Intruder Carp rods after he caught the biggest fish at Horseshoe lake at a fish-in. Maybe they should give him a pair of these for making him wait over four months.
  8. Is your Dad trying to hook them straight onto the hook? Use a hair rig.
  9. 8000. Nuff said. Okuma? LMAO. You don't want him to be in a mood at christmas.
  10. I've seen Fox indicate lots of 'butts' Max Cottis, Andy Little...LMAO Funny cos other companies advertise 'Butt Bangers' Makes you wonder what the advertising strategy REALLY is.
  11. Nash Bullet Braid and Dynon SK are among the better braids IMO.
  12. Tangerine Oil Used to swear by it in my Monster Pursuit boilies.
  13. I only see the use for pods being when on hard ground like a fishing podium or concrete. In every other situation you can use banksticks. I almost always use single banksticks. I had the pod for when fishing on pallets and the like at a few not so well run fisheries. You cant use pods for snag fishing [without using bungee cords to hold them down] and you cant point the rods at the target or fan your rods out etc etc with a pod. If you're using pods on fishing stands and on concretre...the ground is flat. Who needs adjustable legs? IF you're on grass, mud, clay, hardcore...use banksticks! The quattro pod and xpod plus and xpod are ripoffs. I only ever got mine because i got a good 2nd hand deal.
  14. I spoke to the chap grinning at the top of this page about this subject [Matt Hayes] and he pinned the blame on caravan sites. He said that the 'treated' water these sites were pumping into the Severn had severely disturbed the eco system and were to blame for the lack of weed and lack of good fishing compared to days of old. I understand he and big Des Taylor were starting some form of action group to whinge at the Environment Agency, but Matt being a man of his word and all that- it never happened. Would have made a difference if it did. I personally don't enjoy fishing the Severn anymore. I have tried for the carp in the river a few times to the avail of several million chub, but other than that I avoid it. It has become an uninspiring and depleted part of Shropshire.
  15. Don't care about the Anti's, their voice is drowned by us. Litter, I'd rather see it in the bin that room 101. Litter is not compliable with fishing, anybody who leaves litter is not a 'fisherman'. Dodgy Bailliffs...definately. A bailiff should be on the water everyday, not when he feels like it, and should be able to give definate and honest numbers of fish and weights of fish. I'd like to put into room 101 anybody who has never caught a gudgeon, nor even tried. only joking...but I am a big believer in the 'angling apprenticship'.
  16. Me I mix the two, with hemp. Awesome.
  17. Fill them up? If I knew how to fill Tench up then I'd make a fortune off carp anglers. They will clear 10 kilos of bait before you even know what's happening, give them an hour or two and its gone.
  18. Nutramino is a MUST HAVE for anybody tinkering into the world of paste baits, additives or boilies. Amino acids attract animals and fish like you wouldn't believe. Nutrabaits have got it spot on with their mix, and any cyprinid is perillous against it. Good additive, great bait soak, and pukka in paste and boilies.
  19. Bait an area in shallow water that will get them ass in the air feeding. Then fire something at said ass. Leave you alone then. Chilli powder on bread is also a good one.
  20. Cos the fish werent actually in front of you? Don't worry about blanks mate, the guys in the magazines have blanked more than you or I I'm sure, the difference is that they analyse their session right down to the very last detail. The last detail is probably the bait they used
  21. I once caught a tench on a bright white flourescent pop-up boilie fished 4 foot off the bottom in 6 foot of water....IN JANUARY when air temps were below freezing. Tench can, do and will feed all year around. I use hemp and corn a lot for my winter fishing, and can vouch that tench feed right the way through. Find them bubbles and find the tench. On a mild day dont discount fishing midwater. It is a myth that tench 'only' feed on the bottom.
  22. I want some. Where are these available from? I do a lot of stalking, before anyone question my watercraft, and even though I don't need the realtree [i really dont], I like it. You can get it extremely cheap, much cheaper than most fishing gear and as cheap as camping gear if you look in the right places. the quality of most of the clothing is terrific, it's not just the pattern that makes this stuff good. It's made for hunting, and dealing with the outdoors environment of hunting, for that reason it is well suited to fishing. I like the look of these glasses, purely for the fact that it's a bit of a novelty and I know a few fellow anglers who will wet themselves at the sight [or non-sight] of them. The designs a bit naff. They could have at least done them in a COOL style.
  23. The Mavers and the GFX alarms are both very good, extremely good for the money infact. The fox micron m is also good, but if you have a bulky rod then the blank wont fit. You will also need to buy a bobbin, they are often made from a chain, and a weight with a clip on it. Ask at your tackle store about them. I use the Fox Micron ES alarms after years of good service from the micron M's. I can wholeheartedly recommend both, and advise you to avoid Badgers alarms, and also the cheaper £10 each ron thompson alarms which lasted me about five minutes. [my first bite alarms]
  24. It has mate. In the last 12 months we have gone from 50,000 readers a week, to almost 70,000. New editor in, guy from the star. Real 'hard news' man. Some of the front pages we've been getting have had the Shropshire Star desk flapping like mad, with their reporters getting yelled at for not getting the stories we do. And , of course, my introduction has seen a few more copies asked for Still loads of adverts, just like Carpworld really.
