  1. I remember meeting her Majesty at Wolverhampton race course, when I owned a race horse in 1996. "Have a few shillings on Highborn Ma'am" - He duly Won the Queen Elizabeth all weather stakes at 7/1.
  2. My Grandma always bought my school shoes out of her Co-Op Dividends - I can still remember the Number, 117259. (Eleven, Seven, Two, Five Nine as she always said it!!) And gave me 7 shillings & 6 pence pocket money every 5 or 6 weeks or so!! (9 shillings if she was flush)
  3. The "Grid" will not be able to cope with the electric car charging demand!! I can foresee the Government not letting the Electric drivers off from the lost revenue generated from Petrol/Diesel when it all changes!!
  4. It's a good job Petrol is too dear these days, or you'd all be threatening to go round "Chinning" each other!! Beer Mats at Dawn??
  5. OK, so a Lamb worth about £40 needs medical attention, & Peter runs the Skeldale House (James Herriot) Practice. They must be in with a multi million pound Insurance company. In 1967 - a Vets home visit fee was about 5 to 15 shillings (including his petrol) These days, you're looking at £2,000+ for same. Vets are actually taking the Pee out of the fact that one Loves a family Pet - Jabs, Special food (Old Ladies love the fact that they get "Special Food" recommended by the Vitinery) Load of Rowlocks - Our 14 year old cat lives on Whiskas Tasty Shreds, Hi Life Treats, Dreamies, Go Cat Biscuits + the odd Rat, Mouse & bird.
  6. A Derbyshire Family of 12 are deciding whether or not to have another Baby!! Maybe Kids in abundance & cuddling up at night could solve some Energy problems ????? Just a thought!! .
  7. Yep' Dave - not many people are bragging that "Jim Fixed It For Me" !! The Name of the Band was - Showadde' Wadde'. Now then, Now then - Jewelry Jewelry!!
  8. I can remember Mam, who lived till the age of 93, telling me about a man they called "Billy Suckerpipe" - Never did any harm (as far as anyone was aware) but he used to watch the girls doing P E in their Navy blue knickers through the School railings.
  9. Can I go back out snowballing after me' dinner Mam, when me' socks are drier??
  10. I can still remember the steam coming from my breath when getting up for school, we had a Gerry under the bed, Candlewick Bedspreads & shared an outside Bog!! - complimented with old Radio Times (TV Times was a bit too shiny)
  11. 1) Eat more Salads. 2) Eat more Salads. 3) Wear some Jumpers & Thick Socks 4) Go to the Library during the day & use the Councils' Leccie to keep warm. 5) Turn stuff off on standby OFF - like Microwaves, Telly's etc. 6) Eat more Salads. 7) Nick some wood & have a fire in the Garden. We could all get there - it's just that some can't be Arsed!!
  12. Hi James, Welcome to the Forum. "Floating Baits Allowed" are quickly becoming a thing of the past due to the fishery owners thinking that it's too easy!! Although one can easily get round it by fishing the Blob, just a couple of inch deep with meat, maggot or pellet etc.
  13. Hi all, my Granddaughter has just qualified as cabin crew for a certain airline & told me they get 10% of ALL in flight sales. (Food, Snacks & Duty Free, Including some very nice watches, perfumes etc) No wonder then, they go round serving the Money People 1st, starting at the back & front of the plane, leaving those in the middle of the aircraft with what ever is left over. It's happened to us on a couple of occasions & they just give you a knowing smile when I mentioned this - (Getting the Sh*t end of the stick, with not much choice that is) Good to know how it works - Thought it was just Me!!
  14. Well done Dave, beats my PB Pike (5 Lb 4 oz) many years ago & the chips went very well with it (Back in the day)
  15. My mate is also 88+ & I'm 65 and a bit, we still manage to go fishing during the week & he picks me up in the Range Rover you know. Not very far, but it gets us both out for the day. (& gives our wives a break)
  16. I'm by no means an expert on fracking Ken, but the locals of which it could take place have raised more than a few concerns!! Is it to do with the movement of housing & compensation or more, environmental Issues (fracking seems to have been somewhat put on hold just now)
  17. Sod Putin - we've loads of warm clothes & thick socks (+ a couple of good air rifles for small game, if it comes to it lol)
  18. If Maggie hadn't used our North Sea Oil & Gas to pay the Dole, we would be in a much better place than we are now?? (I was just over a boy at the time though)
  19. Gene Wilder was a much better Wonker - Bar None!! (Though I heard, Amber went down much better)
  20. If only I was 45 years younger!!! (except for the gay bar & Internal bit) They still don't like it that we singed the King of Spain's Beard!!! + We've kept our Quid!!
  21. We don't have one, but I've seen the Ninja Foodie range & they look very good on the shopping TV channels??
  22. We're all good at something Dave, & I was very good at Inspecting for the MOD, the Oil tool Industry & the power transmission Industry - I was fortunate enough (by accident of birth) to be in the right places at the right times!! (I'm not such a bad Lathe operator either, especially drilling bolts) It's really all down to "Accidents Of Birth" - Prince George will want for nothing, whereas other kids will die at the hands of abusive parents!!
  23. Leave Mo alone!! - I had a Tenner on him at 33/1 to win "BBC Sports Personality Of The Year" (& a Fiver at 16/1) And Mo had to stick to it as he was only a child at the time (Like you would if it was discovered you were quite good at something) Bearing in mind he will have been guided by Adults, (Sporting & Not) to keep it that way!!! He won all his sporting achievements fair and square - unlike that cheating, bar steward Armstrong!! I'm sure most of us have done things we aren't particularly proud of !! Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone ........
  24. Treat yourself to Yorkshire Fish & Chips while you're up here as well !! (+Mushy Peas, Tea, Bread & Butter) There are some very nice Fish & Chip Restaurants in Ripon. We do Haddock as a norm' up here!!
