  1. Wouldn't say I played very well these days Keith, in fact I haven't even picked one of them up for at least a couple of years+ I did play Lead in a band with some mates at school & called ourselves "The Memphis Sound". I've also a line 6 Echo Park effects box and a volume pedal somewhere in the house (for those "Hank" sounds lol)
  2. When I was 16 yr old I used to get up in our WMC & play Apache with my older brothers band. I'm now 61, he's 66!
  3. I've a Sun burst Fender Strat ( hand crafted in Japan) not played for 3 year or more & a Norman Electro acoustic (Canada) + a Fender Blues Junior valve amp. Just don't seem to find the time to play these days, Yes, still like to think I can do a bit!!! though very rusty (unlike my elder brother)
  4. I'm not really a match angler these days Keith, & only fish them as it's the only way I can get out fishing (I don't drive & ever have) Fishing buses were the thing back in the day, with a good old card school on way home & a whip round for the driver!! The driver thanks you for £2, 3 shillings and six pence!!
  5. Carp up to around 12 Lb (anything above is really a bit big for pole) a basically round lake with an Island maybe a 40 yard cast?? Had a pretty poor day but lost a monster down the edge, maybe a double figure on the meat I prepared above, so very hopeful for the future. A very hot day today in the 30's, so you may have had to strip down to your thermals lol. (not a pretty sight, or so I've heard! )
  6. I've a Match tomorrow at Pine Lakes, (Thorne Nr Doncaster) & just had a tin of cheap, bland Plumrose to use for meat. I've fried it off with Colmans Sausage casserole powder. Have to say it ticks the boxes re smell & texture. I'll be using it down the edge on pole & on feeder/bomb to Island should I draw the right peg. Could see this being good for Barbel on the river. Trefor West swears by his Sausage Sizzle flavouring & this seems about the same - except mine's fried!!.
  7. Toss of a coin - whoever scores first, wins + no energy wasted either way, one plays Japan - other plays Columbia.
  8. We only lost 1-0 but with the lesser part (in the main) of the squad & to be fair Neither side trying all that hard!!
  9. "They Didn't Like it Up 'Em Captain Mainwaring, They Didn't Like it Up 'Em!!". Played like they didn't want to be there??
  10. We actually came out on top there Phone!! we won an extra days rest in which to practice those devastating set pieces. Columbia Tuesday instead of Japan on Monday. Notice we didn't panic to try to win or draw it by bringing Harry on!! The first team proper were kept firmly on the bench. GS was more than happy to give all the other lads a kickabout tonight to stretch their legs a bit. (bit surprised he didn't give at least one of the sub' goalie's a feel of the ball though!! - maybe 1/2 game apiece)
  11. Beg to differ chesters!! 5 year ago I had a Myocardial Infarction & Cardiac arrest - Heart attack in layman's terms & spent 4 days on a life support machine. The fantastic "Crash team" & subsequent specialist cardiac care lead by one Mr Chris Pepper saved my life by their prompt intervention - The NHS is a good place to be. There are some good people there!! (contrary to popular?? belief)
  12. This one looks deep enough mate?? Think you'll struggle to find a one fits all situations though - maybe 2 nets with 2 handles?? 20" dia'. https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwjF_YyhsurbAhXunO0KHbMQDk8YABAMGgJkZw&ohost=www.google.co.uk&cid=CAASEuRob80pl36FP_4AFqe-X4wCZw&sig=AOD64_04vRV5VwkHgxUfa587vodc1OjhMA&ctype=5&q=&ved=0ahUKEwjMgImhsurbAhXBCMAKHcF-Ch0Q9aACCDA&adurl=
  13. Yes bud, all the best for fast & full recovery, been there myself in a way - mine was as MI 5 years almost to the day.
  14. As you well know Steve, nothing works all of the time & they want it different on a given day but this works often enough to be well worth trying IMHO.
  15. But we're on about Roach, if memory serves lol.
  16. "any roach over two pounds is a hybrid anyway" = Philistine.
  17. The old adage, "Those who can, Do, Those who Can't - Teach" strikes a chord here. Not putting emoji on this time, not appropriate when kids get hurt. Here's the science bit - a confined space, combined with fire & liquid = Bad news. Anyone with a modicum of common sense (Teachers apart apparently) knows that!!
  18. If the Roach are up in the water, a slow sinking single caster is hard to resist (on still water anyway) Bury the hook by inserting the point in the top of the caster then turning it around inside rather than hooking it like a maggot. Experiment with the shotting till you get the FALL right. Be prepared for an almost instant take & when the fall through has finished - put in again, loose feeding a few (say 6 or 10) casters first (every chuck) then casting among them (not the other way round or you'll miss bites whilst feeding) Keep your casters in water on the bank, & use any floaters on the hook for an even slower sink BUT - Don't feed floaters!! Last thing you need is them taking from the top. Might even need a No 8 shot 3 or 4 inches from the hook for the floaters?? A loaded waggler or wire stemmed stick is best as these cock very quickly for the almost instant bites you should have.
  19. Neither do I mate, but I always take some rods (like 9 foot, 4 piece NGT's - cheap but good for the money) just to wet a line using more or less freshwater style, but heavier line. (Waggler & Bomb from rocks/pier/beach) Pellet Waggler floats are good for Sea, (peeling/filing some of the weight off so I can get a bit more shot down the line) that way you're not spoiling other decent ones for home.
  20. Not really mate, if the hook length is lighter than the Main line, but maybe the Dura Banjo feeder is the way to go after all.
  21. You could use this - a Banjo feeder either as the back lead with no bait in it or just as in the vid' as the feeder its self. The best bit is you can change the size (weight) to suit the flow without breaking down your set up. They're made of cast metal very compact & heavy for the size/s. It Doesn't have to be Free Running either (unless you want it to be like in the vid') Can thread a gripper stop above it so another bolt rig then!! I do when it's allowed on some fisheries. You don't really need the mould, can squeeze bait onto it by hand & have the hookbait swinging free below the feeder as normal. Have a look, I use these on commies but no reason why not on river. Will easily hold bottom upstream.
  22. No mate , the "Back lead" is fixed, a couple of foot above the feeder, it keeps the line on the deck & holds bottom when fishing up stream when using a light feeder. The fish picks up the bait, dislodging the feeder - panics, so hooking its self thus also then dislodging the back lead which is really there mainly to hold bottom but then becomes the bolt rig when a fish bites.
  23. You could try a "Back Lead" with upstream feeder (a lead above the feeder) can then hold bottom with the lightest of feeders upstream!! This should show as a drop back bite - when the bent tip straightens out/slackens, (or starts to) - Strike!! Experiment with the distance between the feeder and the back lead.
  24. I'm fishing Sunday coming, so will be asking our club members following the game on the bank on their mobiles (that's "Cell Phone" to you Phone!!) NOT to shout out the progress of the game (against Panama) during the matches - Fishing & Football matches that is, for the benefit of those recording it on TV.
