  1. Well this is mine It'd run 3 hours solid without hardly another In between .......
  2. Just a week ahead of Derby day - in which his 1st Derby winning ride was at the age of 16, on a Horse called "Never Say Die" !! RIP Lester.
  3. There is & always will be a certain level of exploitation Ken no matter how much the rate of pay!! It's what, most of us "Working Class Type Chappies" were born into. Fact is that shareholders need a good level of return for their Investment - Or they pull out & Invest elsewhere!! Or Not & just give up & sit on the money they already have.
  4. Forgive me if I'm wrong here Ken, but the aforementioned Directive was made to prevent Exploitation of the lower paid by Rogue Employers!! You could sign up to "Opt Out" of said Directive & work as many hours as you wanted to. I would work 100 hours a week some weeks, & at that time, the overtime (60 hours at time & a half Including Double time for Sundays) also counted towards my Final Salary Pension. We made it Crack!! Them were the days!!
  5. Let's just hang on a little minute fellas - when I was made redundant at around 63, Cod offered to take me fishing on his boat for FREE & gut/clean the fish for me to take home. That's not the signature of a bad guy!!
  6. Yep, Carl Burton (a fitter of sorts) would always stand up in the canteen Union meetings going on on about new technology & taking away our jobs (CNC) who was actually a bit of a Loan Shark, lending money to skint colleagues. We also had Andrew Hardwick (Red Andy) "Lets get the Full Time Official In" to resolve any Union disputes & was also a Union Branch Secretary. He then took up the position of Team Leader for the Management!! He/She is now a Taxi Driver who goes by the name of Andrea!! How times change
  7. I'm 65 & now retired, when I left school at 17, there was a job for everyone no matter what qualifications one came out with (very little in my case) School was never a happy place for Me!! I managed to get an apprenticeship in Engineering & eventually woke up to find I was actually smarter than I thought. Those who've worked hard enough will always do ok.
  8. So, who is going to fill the vacancy for the one who gets the "Better Job" ?? I can't believe that WE are even paying her a wage!! - yes it's all out of OUR Money I wouldn't pay her in washers!!!! On yer
  9. One of them took off with the other's wife!! So much for Bezzie mates, split cane rods & wooden reels. Maybe the Longer Pole took over somewhat??
  10. Don't be kidded that Digital scales are necessarily more accurate than Analog - It's more that Digital is easier to read. And Battery strength has a certain Impact re their accuracy!! In a Club Much when using 2 sets of scales - It is far more Important that the 2 sets are in Sync'. That said, the weigh nets are wetted only once at the start of weighing in (save for returning fish each peg) Good Job we're all mates when there's only an Ounce or 2 in it for the prize money!!
  11. Bearing in mind that these Gauges many times more expensive than Anglers scales as required by A.P.I. Though the Internals are pretty much the same - a coiled spring, a Dial and a pointer!!
  12. you could even turn the Line Back to Front, there will be Line which has never been used where it's been tied to the reel spool & the used end then becomes "Backing".
  13. I agree 100% mate, I used to Calibrate Hydraulic Pressure Gauges (& Babcock Chart Recorders) using Deadweight Testers for the Oil Tool Industry from 100 PSI up to 30,000 PSI at Low, Middle & High (so from 25%, 50% & 75% of the scale then back to Zero) And adjust it Including the "Span" if they were out. I aimed for "Dead On" but like you say is not always possible, but were always within tolerance (+/- 5% I think it was in our application) If Not - Sent away for Repair or Scrapped!! (Depending on the value)
  14. Hi John, sadly no, I just couldn't get in the mood for it - But were going again Sept'.
  15. Hi Guys, here's a really good wrinkle!! I've Nauped a few fish with this, any colour you like ..........
  16. Yep' Cory, always had to be up, washed & dressed first to get the cream on your cornflakes!! I once left a message for our milkman - "Please put this plastic lid over the milk bottles, as The Tits are out before the Lads"
  17. At 65, I'm retired & done with politics, I've enough to pay the bills & go fishing, have a bet on the horses & a bit on the Lottery + some nice Holidays abroad - I've worked for it, 3 shifts, Weekends & all.
  18. OK Dave, so as an Angler, you only took her out because she had Worms!!
  19. I think that a large minority of Yanks think that we Brits wake up in the morning to see Buckingham Palace when we open the curtains. "Gee Honey, I just Love that Yorkshire Accent" - "Purdy Shirt" (I was complimented by an American Lady while on holiday in Mexico) Sadly, the wife overheard!!
  20. I know you'll have seen this Dave, come on bud - don't be Coy (as if)
  21. Thanks for that Ken but I already have Loads of these + lengths of same to cut up (assorted, small diameter for Pole Floats) I needed the Bigger dia' assortment for Sticks & Porcies. Maybe the confusion was caused by the 3 small packs & not 3 packs of small rubbers?? These are the ones I ordered ..... https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwilk-C-mZT3AhVU4O0KHdFdCUEYABAMGgJkZw&ae=2&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESbOD2j4RggTZhXZnx1XSap3Qke6WbFPRf6qE6oZn1x8BhDtzdqLBhksgbB9WHJbc4SKp7E6iWXn5khzzulFemVeCfCVniFQ9V3m-emF40CGtRYJGA63bSge7ed6U0129Fhl2cDg6ym0paqLJkZw&sig=AOD64_2ryveFvDZbxhIvyXlNwFcMhMmW8A&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwiN9Nm-mZT3AhUQXsAKHTxNCWAQ9aACegQIARB_&adurl=
  22. I bet you didn't see much of the Film anyway, Popcorn carton on your Lap with a hole in the bottom??
  23. Yesterday I ordered 3 small packs of Drennan Assorted Silicon Float Rubbers at £1.80 each (£5.40) It then cost me another £4.99 for Delivery!! I Emailed them with my concerns that they were Taking the P*ss somewhat. They replied saying that "That is our Standard charge" for Items under £19. Jesus, a 2nd Class Stamp & an envelope would have easily covered these - and maybe charge £1.50 would have been more than acceptable to Me. Maybe a bit of Discretion would be in order from them for such cheap Items?? - Was going to cost me £4.99 Delivery for just 1 Pack!!! (At 65, I'm still Paying to Learn!!!)
