  1. Thanks for that . I have downloaded it and will take it in to work tommorow.
  2. Where did you here about this research? I want to be able to reference it when I am arguing about fishing at work ( We have alot of P.C, sandle wearing, veggies where I work).
  3. When looking through the angling press i have noticed that the highest prices for a day ticket on commericals is in the south east of England. go up north or out west or into the midlands and east anglia and the prices go down rapidly. This is even more important when during the close season the rivers and a lot of council run park lakes are closed, along with many club waters. Rip off Britain is alive and well in this part of the realm.
  4. Also try miniclip.com
  5. You have to update your profile. then the pormpt to get it will be there.
  6. Well was it worth it?
  7. My understanding is that if you catch a signal crayfish it is illegal to put it back. Also I find they are a real pest often munching on my lucheon meat.
  8. Method of production? I thought is was obvious what the method of production was, hens laying eggs.
  9. I think that there are arguments that international sporting events bring much a much needed boost to the local economy as small businesses and individuals can sell goods to the tourists. Mind you I still don't like the idea of us playing there.
  10. Walthemstow reservioirs. they have a small pond as well as the main waters, that always seem to produce especially on milder days in winter. there are perch, dace, carp, tench ect.
  11. sorry thatnumber is 01303 873020, and of course it is Dymchurch not Dynchurch.
  12. I visit friends in kent and drove near a marshland drain across Romney Marsh. I read about Dowels sewer at Appledore which is a marshland drian similar to the drains in the fens . I havn't fished it myself but the nearest tackle shop is Marsh TAckle at Dynchurch on 01303020
  13. quote: Not much fighting anyway. Whew. Never mind it will soon be the close season and we can argue whether we need it or not.
  14. You are lucky to even go today. i had the jobs given to me by she who must be obeyed. I poped down to look at my local river and it was in perfect condition. I stalked a couple of chub before remembering I hadn't bought a rod.
  15. I wonder what others think about the issue of playing in Zimbabwe. Personally I have mixed feelings. Rememeber Hitler tried to use the 1936 Olympics to gain propoganda and Jessie Owens shoved it back down his throat by winning five Gold medals. so mayby they should play but i don't want to see Nassar shaking mugabe's hand.
  16. Dobbs weir on the river lea at hodderson east herts is always worth a go and there are some coming out although i don't know what size. mind you it does get a lot of angling pressure get more info at dobbs2.htm

spindle, i think you need to seek professional help.
  19. I am a coarse angler but i take an interest in all things fishy. An article in the guardian today highlighted the plight of wild salmon migration and got me hot under the collar. Apparently the Irish govt still allows drift netting to catch the salmon and this is putting undue pressure on them as they tend to migrate down the coast of ireland. pressure needs to be put on the irish to stop this practice. over fishing is causing a real problem and all anglers need to take an intrest in these issues. I was pleased that the story appeared in a national braodsheet, we need more publicity like this.
  20. Once upon a time we were all young snotty noses scaby kneed little tykes with our rod from woolworths, three hooks and float. Fishing on long summer days of our youth. Of course I think getting kids into a fishing is great. But I am getting sick and tired of some of the little scrouts fishing my local pond. If they are not rumaging through my tackle box and blagging some gear they are shouting to their mates on the other bank, play fighting and leaving litter. The problem is the pond is a free public access venue and there is no one in charge. I persoally would like a club to take it over and see it run properly. its full of fish and a great venue. Kids need to be some ground rules and they are not getting it here.
  21. I think Gaffer is right they have a wider gap and longer shank. I bought a packet last summer for using maggots for carp. What are we going to do with anglers who leave litter.
  22. well I heard they had fallen out but didn't know why, so lets have the gosip spindle.
  23. The trouble is that people get used to the commericals and one reason is that they are that are available in the "close season", which actually should only apply to rivers but seem to apply to all types of waters including club lakes and council run ponds. Don't get me wrong i know some closure is necassary but in my area nearly all the councli run ponds in essex close for the full three month period. This leaves us with only the commericals which here in the south east are very expensive(8 to 10 pounds per rod nt uncommon). This continues to be a grip of mine and i would like to see the artifical close season on lakes gone for good.
