My delivery arrived today. Must say I'm impressed with the 10ft Concept light feeder rod, I'd of been happy paying £70 nevermind the £9 it cost me. Don't really need it, but at that price it would be rude not to. Also picked up the 10 metre pole which comes with a half metre extension, that was £23, silly price for a high modulus carbon pole. Haven't fished with a pole for about 30yrs, but it's nice to have it just incase. And picked up the feeder kit for my son which comes with the rod with 3 tips, reel and small tackle box with various bit's of terminal tackle. Looks decent, nice and slim with part cork handle and full carbon blank (tips are probably fibre glass, which is a good thing). Reel seems decent and nice and smooth too. Definitely can't grumble for £14.

Studio seem to be selling off their fishing gear really cheap if anyone is interested. P&P is quite costly but not so bad if you wanted a couple of cheap rods etc. The Shakespeare CONCEPT float and feeder rods look a good bet for £8 and £9 respectively. Tempted myself by the Solitude rods, they look fab value. https://www.studio.co.uk/shop/sports-leisure/hobbies-interests/fishing-accessories#dcp=1&dppp=59&OrderBy=price_asc

It's been a long time since i've fished the method, but I used to drift deadbaits for pike and zander using a set up borrowed from sea fishing using a sliding float and a power gum sliding knot. Easy to cover a range of depths just by sliding the knot up and down the mainline.

Nice one Ken, and a nice little write up. I keep thinking it's about time I headed back out with my rods. Just seems like there's not enough hours in the day these days, there's always something I've got to do, somewhere I've got to be or someone needs my time. It would be nice if it actually stopped raining for a few days too!!!

I'd add to that that you should make sure you ask for a printed copy, otherwise you are likely to just get an email containing a file of meaningless computer code.

Sorry to read that you aren't well Chris. Do you have photos on your website at all? -
Might be worth keeping an eye on this ebay seller Ken - https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_ssn=home-un-leisure&_sop=1 If you click on "ending soonest" and "auction" you'll see that they list things at silly start prices, i've seen the poles they sell go for peanuts. I've had a couple of rods and a rod holdall off them for far cheaper than I should of expected to pay. I know it's a bit short, but just as an example - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/315074257652?hash=item495be3a2f4:g:kZMAAOSwVhpkYgc7

Happy New Year all. Although I have a feeling war on an even bigger scale is awaiting us in 2024.

I'm hearing stories like this almost on a weekly basis. The unfortunate truth is that you just can't put any faith what-so-ever in the NHS anymore. I remember a time when one thought if one gets ill then the NHS was there to take care of you and you'd be in good hands. These days I wouldn't trust them to look after a pet hamster, the NHS is nothing but a very bad joke. .......and the doctors have the nerve to say they don't get paid enough and go on strike! Hoping Mrs Chesters feels lots better Dave.

I did try a squid (If I remember correct) boilie many years ago whilst fishing for mullet in a harbour, think it was Weymouth. Think I had bites but didn't manage to hook any. As Ken mentioned, I always did ok with a chunk of bread fished under a float or free lined in a cloud of mashed bread.

.....or you get a tw*t of an oncologist who tells you that you've got untreatable lung cancer and six months to live, which then turns out to be a nasty case of pneumonia that went undiagnosed and untreated and nearly killed me instead.

I had an appointment with the nurse on monday for BP and a blood test. She asked me why i'd missed a 30 minute earlier appointment with another nurse?????? What for I have no idea, and I didn't even know I had another appointment for 30 minutes earlier. It may have been a good idea to have let me know, and why two appointments with two nurses 30 minutes apart?????
