  1. fished leven myself on saturday. you don't need to go any further than leven for conger as there are a fair few inthe loch. my kid had the best fish at 29lbs. lucky wee sod.......
  2. it'll be a busy place at the weekend. 7 or 8 boats coming up....
  3. right that's them fitted then. wanna race?????? come on you know you want too!!!!!! name the date and time. fri sat or sun???
  4. nice to see a real fish winning for once and not one of those fed and friendly trout that are that fat they can't fight. as for digital camera's i use a fuji finepix 2.1m and it takes great pictures. don't let them kid you you need 3-4m pixels as 2 is more than enough. you only need more pixels when printing large pictures to stop pixelation happening. you can also buy extra cards and rechargeable batts from them a lot cheaper than the shops. i bought mine over the web at a good saving from internetcamerasdirect.com.
  5. thanks davy, i'll pass on the message. sandtiger gave me a web site for disabled anglers and the harness you describe is there. this year is a write off for him but we are hoping for a few trips next.
  6. my dad had a massive stroke recently but has since recovered. now he walks with a limp and has no use of his right arm. is there any tackle out there which would help him back into his fav past time. cheers guys.

    What should I do

having just returned from gigha. probably the best tactic would be to drfit the area around the slack water periods, high being the best. hokkia's jigged unbaited and then baited will account for just about every species known. this time of year mackerel strip is as good as anything but mussells are a good second. the area of sand will probably produce flats to worm baits along with gurnards and there may be some rays. depend on how big this reef is but i would bet that the dominant species is pollack than coalfish. best tactic for pollack would be a redgill/jelly worm fished on a flying collar. best to give the area several attempts as one visit will give a false impression.
  8. i had the albert syndrum (ps cant spell and there's no dictionary handy)till spring this year when mucking about with a new rod i had 5 drops for 5 black mouths. what a result. gave up as i was terrified the old flat chap would grab the morsel i was offering.
  9. good read leon, the number of people who say skate don't fight has just dropped by another one. reading your story is just how my dad describes his 1st skate of 206lbs caught on davy's boat. i had caught a couple of tiddlers abroad around the 50-75 mark before i got my first biggie with davy a few years ago and it still today amazes me how quickly 30 mins passes??????? well done.
  10. don't think we will have to debate this subject much longer as the SFSA seems to be dwindling and breathing its last. can't speak for todays selection process but i assume its not changed much since i applied. one of the criteria was to list your match achievments.mmmh. problem here is the lack of matches and a lack of people entering them. so even if you do get into an event and post a result what does that mean? sadly the Scotland team will go the way of the dodo once the current people bore of it as i can't see anybody willing to put in the time and effort required to breath life back into it. hardly helps when the local club scene is also dead. this is all probably in the end due to the lack of fish. no fish no interest. me i feel the SFSA missed the boat 20 years ago when they should have nurturing youth and sponsers they seemed more interested in themselves.

  12. for a 2 hook flapper use an impact shield for the bottom hook and a cascade swivel to clip the second hook. 99% of the time it will unclip on impact with the water.
