  1. i've got one. e mail me if interested.
  2. have just booked a trip for 10 of us going to to olderdalen north norway(fishing lyngen fjord with 3 boats) starting on the 3rd of may. Olderdalen is virtually opposite Koppangen so if you refine your web search then there will be far more answers. tends to be plenty of smaller fish in the area with a small scattering of doubles, but of course with Norway anything is possible anywhere. the trend is to catch the larger specimens towards the head of the Fjord or head up the Rottsund to the deeper areas half way up. if your boat is good enough then out the fjord to Arnoya, where most of the monsters are taken.
  3. woops, i was sure i read it on here a few months ago. never mind one of those senior moments creeping up on me. when i was there his boat wasn't the most modern looking in comparison to some of the fleet but he did have the big reputation. pity he was away on holiday when i went as i may have caught something instead of watching the waves behind the boat for 3 days.
  4. Afraid i think Peter's passed away to better grounds. so i believe. my apologies if he's still here
  5. last time i was there it was £150 a day per person ... max 4 people
  6. didn't know Stevie was into carp fishing... maybe he could ask that twit where the hell he gets his ideas on the license from
  7. what's a cod. haven't seen any since the early 80's in the Clyde. Talk of a recovery is VERY long way off...
  8. i don't disagree with your assumption some tour operators over estimate as do a lot of charter skippers over the world. its an entirely acceptable behaviour as far as i'm concerned as long as the fish goes back alive, in the end who really cares. as for terence when i have been across the hours are down to the clients. most people are on holiday and 9-5 suits them as they can still enjoy the nightlife and don't have an early rise the next day. horses for courses. we did fish long days last time over some 15-16 hrs long but that is for the pure nutters amongst us, that added to 100's of miles to get to a spot. as for fish weight Terence knew i wanted a fish over 200lbs to beat my best in the UK and despite catching a reasonable shark he didn't succumb and it fell short of the double ton. we can only put down our own experiences and i believe there are a number of anglers on here who have used Terence and most wouldn't question his honesty in weights, neither would most of his countrymen who have the utmost respect for the guy.
  9. fish 2hrs down and approx 2 up. there is a distinct channel. try and fish as close to the mouth of the channel as possible.
  10. don't know how you put a weight on that. i know terrance and if he says 200+ kg then i have no reason to doubt him as he is a straight as the day is long. + its at least double the size of my approx 200lb fish. just wish i had caught it
  11. fish it over low water. lugworm and peeler crab are the best baits. i would use hooks size 1 to 2/0 long shank. grip leads would be helpful. expect to catch bass and flounders. if very lucky you may get a gilthead bream. there are two channels you can fish either of them will produce fish as does the beach if the weather is right. guarantee you'll get lots of weed. the estuaries over there are full of it after a wet summer.
  12. boat called the silverline

    Rays In Ireland

try Carrigaholt or Labasheeda. pulley rigs with mackerel + squid
  14. this is not a derogatory comment re the guy asking the question. it should be pointed out that there has been a huge increase in netting activity in an area not too far from here resulting in almost a total collapse in the fishery in comparison to earlier results. i have witnessed this at first hand and was in a pub having a quiet pint listening to a guy(non commercial) taking orders for bass that he was due to net. be very wary of putting up place names and pictures. these guys are NOT all commercial(who probably know their stuff anyway) but anglers/boaters trying to make a fast buck. i have reported these cases to the SFPA but in truth they are a bit toothless....
  15. most of the rocks have been cleared away to make a path. ok to +-2 hours around low water now. there are a few nasty ones around the low water area so watch out for them otherwise quite good. still requires a 4/4 unless +-2 hours around high.
  16. if its the cox and rawle type then spin back fairly quickly. just under the surface.
  17. --> QUOTE(Norm B @ Apr 30 2007, 04:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well known skipper, for various reasons, Geordie Dickson has 4 spaces on a 3 day Channel Island trip over the B.H. weekend of 26th-28th of May. I could of kept this quiet as he's said he'll go even if there's 4 of us but that wouldn't be fair to him. 2 nights accommodation in Guernsey and 3 days fishing. Read his report in the SAN for details. I'm going to do a feature but don't let that put you off coming, you don't have to appear in the article if you don't want to. Should be lots of good fish, so bring a cool box. How much?
  18. care will need to be taken when using this slip as the locals are non plussed with angling boats making noise at silly hours in the day. i got the feeling they were looking for an excuse as its been angler free up till 2 or 3 years ago and now is being used more. ps couldn't have been you as this was a couple of weeks ago.
  19. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/glasgo...est/6501569.stm scallop dredging to be banned
  20. sounds good to me glad you enjoyed your trip. made all the better by getting FULL value for money i will be going back but after 2 average trips there are other spots in world to go to first. mind you average does mean fish to 200lbs.... now if i could find that shore caught 10lb+ bass then i could get back to some real fishing
  21. to claim a scottish record the fish has to be killed and retained. it cannot then be eaten. i understand the arguement for killing for eating and records but would say that the eating thing is making use of the fish, no problem with that. the record thing is a waste as all the aclaim can still be had by returning the fish to breed by taking pictures and weighing. most cameras will take video as well as stills so doctoring is a bit more difficult. that said cheats if determined will prevail. suppose this is where statements on forums are difficult as they are all opinions which are beliefs, which we are all entitled to.
  22. i think all record lists should be closed and merit certificates given to anglers who get 95%+ of the old record. only record lists which should remain are club ones who support catch & release. why anyone needs to kill a fish for a record that no one is really going to take note of is beyond me. weigh, release and send pics, most genuine specimens will be rewarded with fish of the week prizes giving the captor good reward for their capture. lets be honest most can approximate the record for a few species but who can name the angler?

Jealousy jealousy if you play yer cards right maybe one day you can aspire to reach the heights
  24. I was thinking of going with Sea Ace Fishing Adventures of Henties Bay as they do a complete package at a sensible price, I've not heard of any friction there and they have a UK rep. What's the deal on injections and malaria? no malaria as there is no water. injections via the doc on prescription. Seriously Norm i would recommend terence, most of the guides seek him out when they are struggling for fish and there is no one who will work harder for fish than him.
