If the river is not to far away go back to the same spot where you saw the shoal and bait it with brown crumb, chopped worm and casters. Go back about an hour later and if you can see the fish then this is the spot to fish!I would use a cage feeder with double red maggot or a redworm on the hook..hope this helps!
  3. I was looking at going down there for a couple of days..maybe a long weekend. What is the booking like?Is it hard to get in or can you ring up the weekend before? Also do u have to sty in their accomodation or can you stay bankside? Answers greatly welcomed!!
  4. Thanks for clearing that up phil..much abliged While were on worms i actually ordered lobs from the internet!(as there had been no rain and my tackle shops dont stock them)I used www.willyworms.com and found that they provide an excellent service which is quick friendly and efficient
  5. as far as I am aware there a 3 diffrent types of common garden worm..The lobworm(really big ones found on the lawn after it has rained),dendrobaena(the medium sized worms) and redworm(the smaller ones in compost heaps).I cant see where they seem to be going wrong as if I the basis of my knowledge is correct, they are just worms! However worms do tend to go very smelly if they are left for a certain period of time without fod or fresh oxygen, this could explain the situation if you bought them from a shelf in your tackle shop.
  6. a german thing becuase it's called doppel ganger perhaps? I can see the confisuion though
  7. sorry to hear the news Elton..memories are everything

  9. Hello all i just thought I would post a little moan about something i encountered only 2day. i returned home from work only to find that the box of new kryston doppel ganger putty had arrived...only to notice that I had just paid £4.35 for a matchbox sized lump of putty which would probably make the best part of 5 or 6 baits. Dont get me wrong kryston make excellent quallity products, but why do they only sell them in miniscule sizes and charge the highest possible price for them?Could it just be a german thing?
  10. couldnt put it better..Des taylor..norbit!
  11. calm it down no disrespect meant i just thought that pale faced miserable fish approach was a bit much. I to prefer to fish rivers but am still contented to fish anywhere,so long as i am fishing..no harm meant by the last post!
  12. sorry diamond i misinformed on the last post..i will be fishing inside sandy balls..however i was a bit worried about the happy campers you mentionned..i remember fishing on the river dart on the fly for trout whilst watching happy camper skinny dip in the swim i was fishing!
  13. Hey all, just wondered if anybody had fished the Avon at Fordingbridge? I'm going on holiday up there in july and am trying to find the "dirt" on it. I am staying at sandyballs holiday camp if that helps cheers Barnese
  14. dropping you're line in what looks like our local swimming bath (without the lanes)and haulind pale, sad looking fish out, how natural is that. Surely comments like this can be used by antis as fuel for their fire? Fishing is fishing my friend and we need to support all aspects of the sport.
  15. Has anybody used the new bait availible which is a putty like sweetcorn/halibutt pellet bait which you mould into your desired shape? If so what were the thoughts/results of it?
  16. well mate it all depends on what sort of fishing you're looking at getting back in to. Whether it's float, feeder specimen or any of the other types of fishing you would like to take up all depend on the tackle you need. The best advise usually comes from a local tackle shop or from friends who have been fishing for a while, so dont be scared to ask! I would say that second hand gear is ok so long as there is nothing wrong with it and it is reasonably modern. If you have friends who fish, explain the situation and they may well sort you out with some sufficient gear to get you started. I tend to look for tackle that is reasonably cheap, but made by a manufacturer I trust and put my faith in. I only have two main rods which I can rely on for most situations. Both are made by shimano and I have had no problems with either. My 'catana' feeder rod was a bit more expensive as i bought when it first came out, but i have recently purchased a 'hyperloop' match rod.that cost me just under 40 quid which i well prepared to pay for the quality of rod that it is. Tight lines
