1. Alan, I was assumming..... Bloodcurdling initiation rites, occultism, secret expressions and closed meetings - though I don't seem to have used the right phrase to get accepted. Dave you've got to be Kidding - with my luck I'd get saddled with Billy goat Gruff
2. I've rolled up my trouser leg and asking "how old is your granny's cat" - I draw the line at sacrificing a goat though
3. Does anyone know a stockist of a rubber eel "stretcher" - something that will keep rubber eels taught during storage. I have quite a few that have gone a bit 'kinky' - nothing a dunk in hot water and a stretch wouldn't cure ======== Kenny Route 66
4. I caught a "World Record" 101lb King Salmon - now thats what I call a 'king Salmon!
5. MB bars ( a cheap version of Frys chocolate cream ), not quite PC in this day, but anyone remember 'sambo' a liquorice flavoured chewing gum? - Beechnut and PK chewing gum ( usually from vending machines )and Bazooka Joe gum, with the comic strip inside
6. quote: I still miss frozen jubblies[...just had a flashback to the girls gym changing room What happened to Cinnamon 'lucky' Potatoes that had a plastic soldier inside?
7. Don't worry winter, because they're out to get you doesn't mean your paranoid - they could be after someone else.....or could they?
8. GB as Chippy says it should look like.. code: Good luck
9. Where's the furry dice?
10. Good to get out in spite of the weather and get some sport, Norrie I have a club outing down Drummore in a couple of weeks - I'm hoping that the weather easies up a little, last years was cancelled Did you catch the mackerel down there for the bait? I was thinking of taking down some rag - just in case we can't get amongst the launce/mackerel if we go for the pollock.
11. Rough ground - Nemesis Plus with an ABU 7500CT/Penn 535 Clean Ground - ZZiplex 2500lm with a 525 mag
12. For me, out of all the baitcaster reels that I have my favourite 'fishing reel' is the 525 mag, due to the higher retrieve ratio over the ABU 6500 mag. For pure casting distance then either versions of the ABU 6500 or the 7HT. Depending where you are fishing, go for the lightest line possible - somewhere in the region of 12-18lb - it may also be worth trying clipped down rigs to get that extra few yards.
13. Ain't big enough for all my tackle then
14. Sounds like a load of fun was had - apart from the weather! Its a pity that big common do not frequent areas where there are gentle sandy sloped beaches Can I ask what type of reel line/leader set up you used? - as to get something that big right up to the leader seems a feat in itself! Kenny

Damn Seagulls

Where eagles dare....we breed 'em 'ard in Scotland:) Taken from the Fifeonline website quote: SEAGULLS swooping on Kirkcaldy pedestrians may soon meet their match - if Janet Cooper from the Elite Falconry Centre has her way. Gulls nesting on urban rooftops have become an increasing nuisance and Janet has called for a cull of the pesky birds. Even more so after watching a prized young Barbary falcon savaged to death by around 100 seagulls and crows during a recent demonstration at Inverkeithing High School. She told The Press: "She flew off to do her usual thing but the minute we released her it was as if the heavens opened. We would never have released her if there were a lot of seagulls around, but they came from nowhere." The female falcon, valued at £900, disappeared from the view of horrified onlookers and was later found lying savaged on the beach at Kinghorn. At a similar exhibition in Leven the angry seagulls met their match when they tried to pounce on a Tawny Eagle, who managed to scare them off. source
16. Norm - one of my m8's got one back from the States - its even better than Kylie Monologues bum {2008. Editor's note: for Penn fishing tackle for sale, please click here}
17. If you ever get the chance, try and get your hands on a Daiwa Saltiga multiplier - its an awesome piece of star drag reel- better even than the Trinidad !
18. Anyone that makes a play for my Calvin Kleins - better watch'it...right!
19. Steady guys!- I'm not that old, just started young
20. Its true - even on great forums such as this, out of hundreds of members there is only the few that regulary post - a great number 'lurk' in the hope that they get some info from others, however they are unwilling to part with anything that might help others. This practice does lend itself to 'cliques' forming or private message boards being set up , with invites only going out to the select few. I have been lucky enough to fish with a few members of this board and on other forums/mailing lists, who have helped me out a great deal over the years, which has got me back into fishing after a 20yr absence. I have had the pleasure of a few boat trips and enjoyed the hospitality of others - as a non-boater myself have sadly been unable to repay there kindness. Maybe as a 'Non boating novice' I don't see commercials as a threat - though from the postings of seasoned others I can see that it is a genuine concern. ....I won't go into 'when I were a lad - you couln't drop a baited hook into the Clyde without catching a 20lb cod"
21. Smuggled across in the boot of a car under the cover of darkness? ....You kept that one quiet! No doubt you kept a few coddies as bait though
22. Norrie I think Davy would breakout in a cold sweat and start twitching if he went past the Townhead junction on the M8 For a good few years we've tried to get him on a couple of east coast shore sorties - but he has never materialised on any yet . I think his cars are programmed on autopilot to LA regardless
23. A lot of tackle shops don't advertise these on there website - as its what they get from Penn. I know that Mikes Tackle in Edinburgh had a couple in last week - eg 225LD £65. It may be better to phone or drop them an e-mail from their website - phone number is 0131 657 3258 ======= Kenny
24. Davy - there may be a financial 'opportunity' this weekend? - offer the Catchalot services as a 'bait boat' pick up the rigs from the shore steam out a 200yrds or so and drop them over the side
