  1. No worries. There is a flush toilet on board, fridge for those celebratory beers, microwave and hot and cold running water...all mod cons Rob
  2. Thanks for the interest and kind words, I can think of many who have something rather different to call me that a 'Gent' For those of you requiring info regarding UK stockists of Power Pro (there are around 50 in UK so far) please e-mail me on: rob@anglerpro.com We are increasing our profile in the market this year with a massive ad programme starting over the coming months along with the launch of several new products. Once again many thanks Rob http://www.deepsea.co.uk/boats/electricblue/index.htm
  3. Hello all, As Alan has mentioned, the dates are pencilled in the diary. If anyone would like a closer look at the boat check out the link below. http://www.deepsea.co.uk/boats/electricblue/index.htm Look forward to meeting you all in the summer Regards Rob
  4. Braid Rules............Mono and wire in boat fishing is a thing of the past. Unless you live in Cornwall . I use it for practically every type of fishing that I do. It takes a little getting used to and always use some sort of leader. I wouldn't use it if I was match fishing from the shore using monster leads and trying to hit the horizon purely for the chances of birdsnests etc - I don't do this sort of shore angling and braid is fine for short chuck bassing etc. It works fine on decent fixed spools - show me a cheap fixed spool where you won't get trouble with mono (line twist etc).....as with all angling products there are many different versions / brands some are far better than others. Rob

  10. Danny The 'slub' problem has been greatly reduced in fact it occurs on 1 in 10,000 spools, I think 1 in 3 is a little far fetched. It is a build up of lint from the coating process and in no way effects the strength of the line only bad removal will lead to breakages. The coating is not wax either, it is a resin containing a powdered dye. If you had a problem with this you should have not continued spooling and returned it to your supplier or contacted us, you have our e-mail. We will replace any spools that this occurs on without hesitation. If you wish to return the spool we will replace it. As a matter of course we have replaced 3 spools in the last 12 months. I sympathise with you but as I have explained above you were just very unlucky. Below is an explantion of 'slubbing' direct from Konrad Krauland the owner of Innovative Textiles: Dear Angler: The hard spot in your line is a defect that we call a "Slub". We occasionally get a lot of Spectra yarn that makes an excessive amount of lint during braiding. This lint builds up on the braiding machine, and occasionally a tuft of lint will attach itself to a yarn and become part of the braid. During the PowerPro process, this fibrous tuft absorbs some resin, resulting in a hard spot. These hard spots can be decapitated and carefully removed from the braid. Slubs have no effect on the strength of the line since they are not part of the load bearing fibers. If you break fibers while trying to remove the tuft, then you will have an effect on the lines breaking strength. Rob Game On

  12. Hi all Just like to clarify a few things - We are the sole UK Importer / Distributor of Power Pro in the UK. The stockists Danny mentions, Dave Lumb, Leslies all purchase from us. The difference in Marked B/S is to do with different ratings in different parts of the world - The linear strength of the line under laboratory conditions is in Kilo's - the Lbs B/S is mainly for the benefit of the american market where all fishing lines are generally underated. There is also another big factor with braid that laboratory tests don't reflect real fishing situations. When braid is knotted etc there can be quite a difference in B/S and Knot strength. Power Pro are trying to provide the angler with the correct info about their braid whereas other manufatuers are only supplying laboratory acheived B/S. I hope this can clear a few points up. And for anyone who is interested I use the 9kg / 10lb for all my carp hooklengths and have never broken it on fish upto 30lb - in fact you'll bend the hooks before it breaks and the largest fish I have landed on it is a 90lb+ Tarpon. There are many of the countries top anglers from all areas of angling now using and endorsing PowerPro. It is a very special line that will only get more and more popular over the coming year. Any questions feel free to PM me. Rob Thompson Game On Fishing Tackle Ltd.

  14. Mark Have just spoken to a mate who fishes there a lot - night tides are the best as Spasor pointed out - with the best fishing over the High Water period - identical to our Solent marks - three hours before and a couple after. It may pay to get there a little earlier when there are a lot around as it does get very busy. Rob

Hi Bob I think I've just spoken to you on the phone - If it wasn't you please PM me we have it in stock. Rob
  16. Hi Mark Pagham is probably one of the top three beaches in the country for Smoothies - and these are without the hardest fighting fish you can catch from the shore over here. The fish will start to show soon - but get going at the end of May and into June. Will try and and find out some more specifics for you. The fishing is prolific but I think that being able to cast 80 yds + is an advantage. Only one bait to use and thats Crab, peelers best, hermit second but if they are really running a Hardback will be just as effective. Pulley rigs 30 - 50 lb mono trace and 4/0 - 6/0 Cox and Rawle Uptide Extra. I can't wait for the run up here - best summer shore fishing there is - where we fish in the Solent though you can get away with carp rods as you are not fishing more than 30yds. I'll find out some more info and post it due course - I hope this is of some help to you. Rob
  17. Hi all Sorry for the delay with the rigs, been flat out, won't be about again until Friday but I'll make some up take a couple of digi pics and mail them to Elton. Rob
  18. Alan I need a fax number or something - I have noidea how to post pics into the forum. I'd be happy to help but I will not be able to do it until Friday morning. Mail or PM me somwhere I could send a sketch. Rob
  19. Alan Do not fear mate you can use lead heads all day long mate - we have been using a rig down here for the last couple of years and it out fishes pirks, single jigs, jellies etc. Just use a normal collar rig with a three foot trace, mout the jig on the other end (the hopper),like a redgill or jelly let it down a fish it like a pirk - the jig bounces up an down behind the lead and is superb - we now fish them on a fiteen foot trace in the same way as you would fish a gill no tangles because the lead on the jig falls down with the lead on your boom and if the fish aren't tight to the bottom you wind up through them. If i'm pollacking with jellies I now always use a drilled bullet above the worm (put a stop knot above the bullet and tangles are a thing of the past. If people don't beleive it I can recount a trip that our crew was on with Paul Whittal last year - he had heard about the rig but said it was only as good as a pirk could be - in fact proabably not as good as pirks - he had two locals on the boat who fished them all day - one had three cod the other two - the lowest tally from our crew was seven the best 12 - So we can can draw the conclusion that it doesn't and wont out fish pirks then!!!! Rob
  20. I started carping this season in Mid Jan, I had done about seven evening sessions prior to this but as I love my Bassing in the summer winter is when I get going with the carp. I've fished three lakes for a total of about ten days, although most sessions have been for a few hours - the lake is 2 mins from the office and I can just stop off on the way home or on the way in - I've had some cracking fish (two 20+ commons and a stunning 25lb 2 oz linear) but just as I'm in to the swing again the main lake I'm fishing is about to shut!!! I do love carping in the winter, the lakes are far quieter and the fish are stunning in fact I was talking to my mate yesterday evening as were packing up and we were both saying we couldn't wait until Jan next year!! Got one last chance this afternoon then it's off to pastures new for a while. Rob [ 13 March 2002, 02:24 PM: Message edited by: RobT ]

  23. Fifty odd Quid - Steve Neville roller buzzers - last a lifetime - excellent after sales and the coolest thing on the bank, still!!! I use braid so don't need sensitivity controls etc anyway and use the £20 fox ones on/of beep! Perfect. But I will own a set of Steve's before long!! Rob
