I have kept crabs alive for weeks in small tanks with just a aerator the live bait type or the ones you use from the mains, the crabs i have had out of their shell include the red ones, but i only put a few in at the time because they fight a lot and claws and legs get pulled off,the green crabs are pretty easy they seem to come out over night,iam yet to try the velvet type they need a lot of oxegen

i have used mitchell reels models 306, 486,never had any major problems with them they are real work-horses and pretty cheap to buy on e-bay,the small problem i had with one was the bail-arm came over in mid cast so i cut it off and used it as a manual pick up the 486 will drag a boat to shore

but still here to do your bit(more luck than a pox doctor)

Just started a weeks holiday to do a bit of bass fishing,looking for a spot called porthgain pembrokeshire anyone have ideas where to fish around this area PS I dont do beach only rocks using crab or lures

friend of mine has a fly rod which belonged to her father, the rod is unused but the make is foreign its made by weiss its a cane rod with a number of top pieces the price is still attached to it (4s and sixpence)anyone got any ideas what its worth or any other information on the make?

been out spinning for bass since last friday evening,water was dirty and weedy on that night,saturday still the same,sunday saw a bit of improvement water changing colour birds diving out about 200 yards or so,took a couple of small ones, last night took 33 kept two up to 3lb what a night.

i come on this sight to look for interesting stories to do with sea-fishing, rock,boat or shore but it seems to me there is little room for that when you got to put up with some illiterate arse who seems that everyone should have a go at yak fishing(very very sad)

i have tried most types of lure fishing for bass but have never tried surface poppers, i would like to know what type to use and how to use them and what conditions would be best.any info will be appreciated.

I have tried to get hold of some redgill eels, pearl in colour 115mm long without success most of the top tackle shops do not have any is there a dispute going on?

115mm redgill eel pearl colour fixed 5ft behind a bubble-float filled half with water around 2 1/2ins in dia,no snags to get hooked on and watch the bass take a lunge behind the eel we took 86 bass 2 seasons ago upto 4 3/4lb around eight were kept you tend to catch a lot of school bass with this method, when i say we 3of us in 2hrs .

Some rock marks around our coast are already picking up some early decent size bass,The rock marks around porteynon area of swansea where two fishermen have been camping for the last three days have had bass,is there anywhere else i wonder which have had bass off the rocks in these conditions.... i hope so.

while spinning for bass we have caught squid just as dusk was approaching,using tobys and kosters off the rocks in porteynon swansea.

some years ago while boat fishing out of swansea for plaice, we would catch mackeral on beaded lugworm baits, boat was at anchor and fixed paternoster rigs which were fished hard on the bottom with 4 to 6oz of lead,if theres food there they will take it.

does anyone know where i can get bubble floats on line i use them for lure-fishing.
