  1. Money speakes volume's though,if having a valid license meant that commercial water's had to check it and refuse those without one, what do you think would happen revenue would fall, so they would'nt bother checking and we are back to sqaure one again. More input from the E.A is the answer, every commercial water should be made to pay for a operating licence. Then the E.A could do the normal checks on anglers licence's and if they find some one fishing without one the operating licence should/could be withdrawn.but hey that mean the E.A giving a dam....which they do not seem to.

    Weather Sites

I do not touch the met ofice for my region, and thats since the met office moved to Exeter Sites i use are the Weatheroutlook and NetWeather both have forums with link to the lastest model output, you can pick up a lot know how with these as to whats gong to happen.
  3. I would like to offer my sincere apologies to Bob Bradford and for the unwarranted written attack on him and his character, and will remove the offending post. Sorry Bob my anger got the better of me but i felt that you were somewhat preaching a "must sign up" to all on Anglers Net
  4. Don't you think you get YOUR facts right before spouting off. Where have i said that my opinion are FACTS there are just my opinions and i am entitled to air them on this public forum until the owner say's otherwise If you think internet forums are not worth a damm and are dodgy...... Then why the hell are you posting on this one and others. Me smells a troller i am sure the Angling Trust must cock a hoop over your methods of drumming up support talk about alienating your core target group..keep up the good work you might end up as the trusts president.
  5. I would rather not have my views communicated if we as anglers are represented by person's such as you If you ignore the amount of threads/views and opinions that expressed in this one forum alone! Then you really should stand down from your postion in the Trust The trouble with angling bodies in the past is that are only represented a small minority of anglers mostly Match anglers The vast numbers of anglers are pleasure anglers until an angling body is set up and can communicate with them, then it is all of a nothing really as far i am concerned......... but thats just my OPINION
  6. no pike in cornwall at all as far as i know, a few in devon though
  7. take plenty of £coins, toilet paper, pots pan cooking utensils and light bulbs....and don't go looking for big roach!..nuff said
  8. Cold & Snow Enough for you now chesters i told you lol
  9. True, but it's nice to see some proper winter weather rather the than mild, wet, dross our winter's have been for the last decade or so. Nice to have a normal year in 2008,instead of another baking year,Hope 2009 is the same.
  10. Just a heads up for the coming weekend /nextweek Weather is forecast to turn very cold again over the weekend and into next week with a strong easterly wind and snow flurries. Tempertures could be close to freezing during the day in Eastern and Southern area's, would expect servere frost to develope during the night time. Snow showers becoming heavy on eastern coastal areas, with a threat of more general snow later on in the week towards the weekend. Wrap up warm in you are thinking of going fishing it will feel bitter in the wind Might even be colder than the christmas/new year cold spell
  11. Oh it's not like one of these midlands canal emma. All shrouded in trees, plenty of cover. Over half of it runs along the Exe estuary open and wild It was frozen all along it's entire length in the recent cold snap ,Even in tropical Devon we get bad weather you know
  12. There's no such thing as bad weather...just inappropriate clothing An old Scandinavian saying

Will use the normal baits cheese etc, but would like to use small deads as well in winter but the river i want to fish has pike in it can i use a wire trace when fishing for chub. if so what Breaking strain wire should i use if any at all, should add i will be using a single size 4 or bigger if needed and not trebles. any comments please. cheers
  17. jarmin brought myself a ET tormentor 9 foot 30-60grms off friendly fisherman for £75 great rod and managed to pick up a shimano Exage4000RA for £40 no p&P....well it was christmas
  18. Yes thats correct i have never had the "pleasure " of fishing a commercial autumn, winter, summer, or spring. And as i have said i no wish to, but with all fishing you take the bad times as you do the good times And may i say i think you view is also biased as you only seem to fish commercials.Fishing in winter is much harder on ANY water especially rivers. PS what do you mean by club waters
  19. quote from Mat Newman Why would a blind man fishing on a commercial fishery have more chance of catching than on a river? Because i often stated that anyone can catch on a commercial I am sorry if you took a posting from me as an insult. But your posting insinuating that i had magical powers was off as far as i was concerned i am nothing special and hope and wish that i and regarded as that. However i am big enought to apologise if i offend. As we have both stated we are clearly worlds apart in our fishing and maybe our idea of fishing I will say again, i wish you well and hope you enjoy your fishing.
  20. If you have to say "what sort of argument is that" to a clearly laid out statement then not only are we worlds apart in logic then we are worlds apart in something else. You clearly being further away then me DAs you can only reply with non argumentive replys heres my two penith And i have no magical powers nor have i said so. It seems you are only able to take the easy option not only in fishing but in any debate/argument and can only react with petty comebacks As for your offer of fishing a commercial water of your choice....no thanks i like a challange not a certainty in my fishing and if i catch non then so be it i learn from that experiance, not go to another carp hole and hope they are biting there I would invite you to fish a river but suspect that the sight of all that flowing water might upset and confuse you what with having to stay awake and watch a float. No bait alarms, no radio blaring, no bait boat,no self hooking rigs, you get the message .eh As i have said i hope you enjoy your type of fishing but.......you don't know what your missing:lol: Depend's if it's foggy if not i don;t think it matters
  21. Put a blind man on a commercial water and tell him to strike every so often, result he will more than likelyl catch a fish during his time spent on said water. Tell same blind man to the same thing on a river....what odd's will you give to him catching a fish now? Mat You and i are clearly world's apart in the world of angling. i wish you well and hope you enjoy your type of fishing
  22. Sorry but to me it sounded very contradicting of yourselve. And where did i mention you catching 100lb plus And no i do not want night fishing banned,i just don't think fishing intensively on higly stocked waters day and night is good fish welfare no matter how short a time it is. what is stop a matching going on for 3-4 hours then some one coming in and staying on after the match has finnished and fishing through the night, if no fishing where allowed on the match lake until next day then fine. But carp water owners are in for the money, clearly and patently obviously not for the fishes welfare or this waters would not be so highly stocked In this country now there are people who go angling and people who go to catch fish..... i know what i am, seems alot of people have yet to work out what they are.
  23. Oh come on newt fish that are caught and handled 24/7will not survive for long.Surely it must be the case that these fish will suffer some sort of side affect from the stress of constant feed going in day and night, the competion from other fish will make it imposssible for them to ignore the food put in so surely a proprortion will end up being caught time and time again until they associate bait/food with being caught and then they will become reluctant to feed, the condition and well being of the fish will go down. It's all down to money and the "must catch at any cost mentality"it really is not angling at all it's like shooting fish in a barrel If people have limited time to catch fish, then take up another pastime. The sooner these hole's in the ground are shut down the better. Lets get the youngsters back to rivers and canals and teach proper watercraft and angling skills that will teach them patience and idea's of how to overcome angling challenge's.after all thers so much to angling then catching fish.this is being knocked out of the heads of youngsters today Many anglers feel they have had a bad day if they have not caught, catching the fish is just the bonus not the be all and end all of a days fishing.
