When I was younger, my sister was ledering with an arlsey bomb, she cast out but couldt quite figure why the bomb hadnt reached the water. She looked back and realised she had caught me, through the nose with a size 10 hook!

Hi Folks, Could anyone give me any good info on how to go about spodding? I have acquired a spod rod, some shock leaders and a spod! ( always good ). How should I rig it and use it?

I wonder what the Spanish government stance is on it, considering that the fish doesnt appear to have impacted on the ecosystem and obviously generates cash from angling tourism. Pangolin, are the catfish indigenous or were they introduced to the Ebro? If they are indigs, I dont have a prob with them eating other fish stocks. If they were illegally stocked, thats a different matter altogether.

Ive seen it Pangolin, what a magnificent fish, that really must have hurt to land it. Did you see the gob on it? Wouldnt like to go swimming in the ebro where that lives!!!!! Well done to the lucky guy who bagged her, he must still be recovering!

yup floating is a classic way to get a total newcomer into it, its simple and exciting.

Andy, you joke, I have been to venues where said " parent" did speak like that at the misbehaving kids and had the audacity to lecture them when one of them swore as well. Sort the parents out, not the kids, they want to learn and have fun. The said " gentleman" in this story also wouldnt let his kids help him play or land the tiddler he eventually caught, and he was wondering why they were bored and listless!!!

Hi Lancslass, I agree with the match rod and light line, I personally would go for 5 lb line and a 14 hook as this has worked for me fine against small carp. As for bait, try sweetcorn soaked over night in golden syrup, they love it. A single nugget will do nicely.

At last I did it, I achieved my first fishing goal and broke my tenching duck and caught my first tinca, real beut as well, 5lb!!! boy can they fight, stuff carp!!!! ( joke!)
