Dizidave is right aboout your choice of hook use size 20-16 depending on the bait you want to use to catch the roach and rudd. keep your 14 hooks or bigger for the tench and you should catch a lot more fish.why not set up two rigs and swop from one to the other then catch both roach and tench. good luck next time you go worm dangling.

I don`t come from kent but my wife does, so we visit her family at least 3 times year in Canterbury, and i always take my gear with me. I fish the stour at grove ferry.the roach fishing there is brilliant and i always seem put together a good sized bag of fish no matter what time of year.There is also a good head of bream present and an awful lot of pike. i just hope by stocking these barbel it does not spoil the roach fishing.

i did not say these attacks happenend yesterday or last week the one in wardend park did happen about three years ago and was reported in the evening mail and on local radio. i am not a trouble maker or a racist and belong to no political party.i`m sorry if i have upset one or two of you but that was not my intention.the cs gas attack also happenend about three or four years ago and was also reported in the evening mail.once again i am sorry if i upset some of you.

I fished a match there last year with my club new barley a.c.most of the fish caught were the same as you catch in most midland canals i.e. roach,gudgeon,perch and a few skimmers.there were also a few small carp,tench and i had a couple of eels in my net.the canal differs from other canals as there is no boat traffic at all it is overgrown with bullrushes right down the track with individual ponds cut in to each peg. This makes it very different from any other canal i have fished.I enjoyed my day there fishing the normal light tackle methods up against the bullrushes.Where i fished it was only about 18 inches deep right across my own pond peg. I caught plenty of small stuff weighed in about 5lbs. be warned though if you hit a big `un` you will never get it out on light tackle.

I know salford park well and live only a couple of miles from the place.I used to fish salford most weekends in years gone by.I would not go near the place now. I have heard plenty of tales of fishermen being assaulted not only at salford , not so long ago a group of fishermen were badly beaten by a gang of asain youths in ward end park. and there was a cs gas canister thrown in to a bivie at salford and the anglers tackle stolen.I work in a building on the bank of the fazley canal just up the road from salford park and have fished there a couple of times on my own but i must admit to never feeling at ease and i`m always watchful of people walking the tow path.Its a shame because the fishing on the canal and at salford park is very,very good but it looks like the thugs are winning and stopping real people from enjoying some excellent sport right on our own doorsteps.No doubt the thugs will have made enough money to keep them selves in drugs for at least a couple of days.Then its back to the park to pick on their next victim.SCUM!!!Hope your mate gets well soon Tony.

hi fellow worm danglers, i`m fishing a match at larford match lake shortly. would be very grateful for any tips such as best baits,methods etc.i have fished there in the past but that was when it first opened as a match lake and all the carp were pasty size. anything changed?
