  4. LOL that were'nt no mouse it was a HUGE sewer rat!!!! probably uncle roland
  5. i get ya pango mate, this is true a fish should only be able to beat the record once,im waiting for the day a water throws up an uncaught monster(and i beleive it could well happen)some unknown ressie/lake throws up a brit 60lb common!! btw the perch record is a classic, many would love to hold that one,but a schoolboy, on a day ticket water with crude tackle caught it,that one was about who caught it ,as it just goes to show suprise's are everywhere, who would have thought a commercial carp water could throw up a monster to rival the crayfish munching great ouse monsters! 6. theres nothing wrong with hunting a record fish its what specimen angling is all about, but to catch the same fish twice is boring(especially when he blantatly see it feeding in the edge and went for it),some do become obbsessed thast down to them ,damn i become obbssed when i get to many blanks, its what keeps me fishing!!desire and determination, cranfeild i also i agree with you mate some are chasing sponsorship.at the end of the day its swings and roundabouts, ifit had been adiffrent angler it wouldnt matter,it would be well done mate hard water that, nice fish.as for the care of the fish on the bank, that was never in question.
  7. yeah, the regulars commented on them doing well, first time over there too!yore right tho it aint easy over there, should give ressiesa go mate some big old fish still in there.i been after that book for some time maybe steves got iton his site?
  8. nice article mark(&ian) read it this morning after work very pleasent read, that zander looked big but not very fat, what wouldit weigh in winter?watching footballon the bank tho?carp boy spirit creeping in...
  9. NO it has been eaten by the perch lol hahaha i like that one rudd....wickerdave's first line was a good'un!good humour lads!
  10. i think mr barbel is still chilling after spawning, tried the more oxygenated runs/pools?
  11. newt, the majority of people dont fish like that for barbel(your rig) the problems would arise from short hooklinksand fishing them as bolt set ups.personally i think a flat in-line pear is much better,no nasty looking wires to catch on the fish as said.these types of leads are used in sea angling ,they are fished as newt has drawn, but NOT in freshwater.(well maybe in the states?)
  12. unfortunetly yes i have, ian welch highlighted it in AM,i as going to post a message about it but i thought most have the sense not to use it as it DOES look dangerous.any leads as to who exactly is making them?i wouldnt mind mailing them  imagine you playing a fish with one of them on,the damge those wires could do doesnt bear thinking about.
  13. i thought i saw a perch...i did!!i did!! spot the gudgeon?...
  14. yes have fun ,river fishing is the one,i prefer rivers to lakes,no probs with that barbel info.fish welfare is a priority.anyway lets all know how ya go,n good luck n tight lines!
  15. i used t use trh ewashing up liquid tatic but as others have said i feel it may leave a soapy residue on the worms -not good,so i now use th eold bankstick way,and yes it works gimme 5 mins ill ave 30-40 worms, works best if you try a little way from the last point you tried.it alwasy works,i even do it when fishing for a change bait.
  16. hhhmmm i'd be tempted to go for barbel.try using meat/boilies fished over a bed of hemp/small halibut pellets(6mm),or you could try trotting a stick float and put a nice mixed bag togather, the choice is yours mate, lookaround the websites for tatics as it wil take forever to explain.ask people you see fishing, one to look at is http://www.fishingmagic.com and on anglers net youll probably find a few articles on barbel and stick floats.one small word of warning tho if you fish for the barbel, make sure they go back ok,they tend to fight very hard and knacker themselves, release the fish with head pointing upstream one hand holding the wrist of the tail one under the belly, hold the fish untill it gives a good strong kick,it should then be able to support its self and swim off strongly.this process can take 5 mins or half an hour never let them go until you re sure they have recovered.
  17. NICE....gimme a GSXR-1000 OR A HIGHWAYABUSER(HAYABUSA)GSX1300 ANYDAY...saying that i wouldnt make it through the day on one of them!
  18. look for links on the net mate, theres alot of diffrent fish to go for do you have any info on the water or stretcth you are fishing?

  24. good anglers are always thinking, good anglers adapt, bad anglers cant adapt and are therefore stuck in somewhat of a cycle, hence i could never fish for just one species, becuase that cycle would bore me!
  25. yes this is true ,i take it you used to live there?i like the north met,not fished it but been round it a few times lovely place. and up at the lagoons n brackens,my mates have just joined brackens pool.
