  4. Someone needs to publicise the petition nationaly and using the media could this be an opportunity? The need to spell out that this will cause the downfall of the uk charter fishing as well as lost jobs for the tackle trade and the loss of enjoyment of all pleasure anglers I have been fishing for over forty years and i for one can assure you if this becomes law i will not bother and flog my tackle
  5. Not sure if this is what your looking for but try this link http://www.fishingweightmolds.com/producti...php?product=221

  12. I take it none of you have seen the deadliest catch just for an example when those fishermen target cod they catch nothing but cod using cages selective fishing no discards
  13. Best idea i have heard yet europe meddles in uk affaires and influences uk policies to the detrimental effect on citizens of the uk (immigrants excluded) its about time this country told the E/U where to go and managed its own resources for the benefit of UK Citizens in this country weather they be Commercial /RSA/ or the housewife down the road Stop thinking Pro Europe and think about the people of England dont think i will be paying for any licence as this announcement has prooved to me we will get jack S**t in return for it
  14. I like you have no wish to discredit The skipper or crew of the chieftain but yes mistakes were made the two buckets of fish were left over night for two reasons the crewman dissappeared for a couple of hours while anglers were fishing this led to a backlog of filleting which eventually darkness put a stop to. and of course the extra filleting needed for the extra passengers that were carried at the time increased the overall amount As for the food we could not fault it well done Joyce
  15. Thank you for your sympathetic thoughts Barry First and foremost i believe the skipper is well aware of the situation and i do know that their partner Des is fully aware As for learning the difference between fishing and catching i think i should point out every angler on this trip was experianced some like myself have been fishing for the last forty odd years so ithink we just might know the difference by now We also know your line has to be in the water and not on the deck to catch fish If i wanted to go on a cruise around the north sea i would book one with P&O or Cunard As you and i both know with wreck fishing in the north sea and with prior experiance once you have caught off the head of cod from a wreck and the ling start to show that is the time to move on unles you are targeting LING If you viewed their website it does say Quote My job is taking anglers drift fishing in the North Sea, mainly over wrecks, and mostly targeting cod Unquote With this in mind the skipper should target the required species as this trip we were targeting cod and he should do his utmost to give his paying customers what they require George knew that a particular wreck was stuffed full with ling as he had fished it a month before If i had wanted to target Ling then i would have booked a specialist trip targeting them which they also offer. Marting comment Quote They are working on JB's reputation and not living up to it!!! Unquote Seems to me to be correct other than changing a few words on the website the rest is from the previous skipper which clearly the current owners are either not prepared or cannot deliver someone elses promises on the services offered Perhaps they shoud re-wright the web site in their own words and just wright up what they can deliver in the way of services instead of what the previous skipper could . This particular trip was also stacked with other problems before leaving the dockside I believe the Chieftains C.O.P is for 12 persons plus 3 crew on this occasion we had 8 from our party and what apparently should have been 7 from another party however one droped out the maths equates out to 14 anglers and 3 crew This Is above the C.O.P and i assume if things had gone wrong at sea the boat and liability insurance would have been Null and Void Perhaps this is why the skipper wanted to head home at the first threat of any sort of weather that could possibly come his way The extra anglers created untold problems with anglers fishing closer together tangles were horrendous and at meal times all anglers could not be seated in the mess room and some had to eat outside on the deck With regards to filleting services offered when the crewman dissapears for two hours while anglers are fishing on deck it is no wonder he cannot keep up and then at the fare paying anglers disgust the fish that has spoiled is thrown over the side fish that an angler has paid good money to catch
  16. Correction to my last post George should read Eddy
  17. We had the same in july 60 hr trip first day started ok with a few cod coming onboard then as the day went on skipper decided to fish for ling on a wreck that he fished a month before ok there were ling there but if i had wanted ling i would have booked a ling trip then we were told the weather was supposed to be a right hoolie on the second day so we had a early start at 0400 fished for a couple of hours then skip decided he did not want to be out there in a storm so we spent about 4 hours steaming in wouldnt have minded but the sea was not even washing on the deck through the scuppers we eventually ended fishing in sight of land and as you can guess the fishing was c@~p the skip told us he had cancelled the next days trip of 12 hours and then later in the day we found out it was back on again ( something fishy i think what happend to fishing wrecks once a year ? think he is just a fair weather skipper myself i know he has to err on the side of caution regarding the weather but spending most of the second day travelling is not what i paid for we ended up in port around midnight 6 hours earlier than schedualed and the weather never turned up seems to me George does not seem to try as hard as John used to we also had to ditch a couple of FULL buckets of fish as the crew did not get them filleted and left them in water overnight i know this is their first sreason but there is no excuse for leaving fish on deck to rot. Ling were not skined either Personaly i dont like to see fish lying around on deck George seemed to be at sixes and sevens seemd to want to carry on his system of collecting the buckets from where he left off he could not see the point of the anglers bringing their catch buckets to him to save him time running about the deck also we were told first of all no one was to access the chiller even though some of us filleted our own fish it transpired someone had the lid slam on there fingers a few weeks before therefore we had to wait for george to put them in . Think they need to take a long hard look at the way john ran it otherwise i can see a lot of customers leaving them Give us the service we are used to
  18. So What was wrong with the last one ? ( not enough cod or perhaps too much ling )

  21. I am off on a long range trip on a whitby based boay in two weeks time could anyone enlighten me on how the fishing hasd been in that area
  22. In your tackle shops now calshot creek water containing a magic ingredient to improve your Bass fishing £5.00 pe liter soon to be available on E- Bay Opps someone dosent know his Fish ID
  23. First of all challenge read the large letters it does say ONE TRAWEL OF THE NET Regarding the hoovering if you had read the post as it was written it does not literally mean suck them from the sea using a suction device but it does refer to the suction device used to remove the vast quantity of fish from the net to the hold you also said in your reply they can only catch their quota and that they caught their quota in one haul If that is the case What does this boat do the rest of the year ? I take it this vessel is not laid up for the rest of the year therefore it must have quota for other species like cod, herring ect are they able to do the same with these species? i take it that a boat of this size will have a large quota otherwise it would not be viable let alone profitable for the owners to continue to operate. quota i believe is a portion of the total allowable catch for that year divided up between all commercial boats if that is the case then it is no wonder the commercial fleet has decreased with boats like this buying up the quota and fullfilling that quota with one haul at the ecpense of the smaller not so profitable operator who would be unable to afford the license you yourself worked on a boat that had to travel further afield to obtain decent fishing for your customers i am one of those customers therefore i am not a poorley informed critic i can see what is happening to our seas after being a RSA for OVER 40 years (as the Government would class me A stakeholder ) if i have to travel that far to get some decent fishing then there is something very wrong And in my opinion seeing a boat take that amount is obcene the same was said about the sandeel as read in various publications
  24. How can anyone justify hoovering up 500 TON'S of fish in one trawel of the net and yet the powers that be let this carry on IMOP i think after watching a whole shoal of fish hoovered up from the sea in one netting is absolutley disgusting those fish were migrating for what purpose i am unsure - was it for the purpose of spawning if so they not only pillaged the sea of a breeding stock but also hoovered up future stock remember this was just one trip to sea how many times does this boat go to sea each year ? the sea cannot sustaine this sort of fishing on a global scale yet the government seem hell bent on chastising RSA with licenses and possibly bag limits because they say we have an adverse effect on the fish stock I have seen other post's on here where RSA have had a good catch and other members have seen fit to chastise them for it how long would it take for RSA in the whole country to catch that amount of fish ? Perhaps after tonights program they will have a rethink and look at the real cause of over fishing and poor fish stock's
