heading out with mike watson on orca this saturday with some fellow nhs employees. I'm the only sea angler (barring mike) but very new to boat fishing two rods 20-30lb class and two reels fully loaded with 40lb braid on 30lb mono backing ( approx 150 yd braid on each) rigs have mackie feathers, hokais, some wire conger/tope 8/0 traces, some muppet rigs, jellys and shads will be taking some 35lb line for flowing traces, hooks,zip sliders and a mix of weights from 4 oz bombs to 10oz will give morrisons a look for some squid late friday......... have i forgot anything?........................ tips and advice welcome cheers

anyone able to id these thousands of these were shoaling and jumping through surf last night literally boiling with them foul hooked these two when i cast past them to see if anything chasing them inshore

the wee mark between sandhead and ardwell ..... only went in up to my neck mind you i'm 6'8" so was about a foot above snatcher's head fairly woke me up as it was only 7.30 am casting was just gettting good then .....if i just wade over hear i'll.....spaloosh [ 18. hi snatcher waders have dried out now bad news re caitlin she dislocated her knee cap today so no fishing for her for a while got appointment for 1 of my tests this friday after Glasgow on thurs for bum exams

re 1 in 20/30 casts could be that the b/blocks are oiling up and not braking as they should after every session strip reel and dry off contact area for b/blocks spinn reel to hear clink clink of b/blocks hitting the rim failing that try http://neilmackellow.sea-angler.org/ for advice

matt ive been getting some coaching of late to improve my casting and the most stressed part of it has been technique keeping every thing smooth and a slow build up of power and repeating the setup time and time again. many of the guys i cast with go back to basics when things start going wrong ie going back to the off the ground cast with a heavier lead to intentially slow themselves down if you have time and have slowed/relubed your reel try an hour or two of casting practice instead of fishing in 5 months ive gone from a miserable 66yds to hitting 140+ with smooth and controlled cast with cheapy multi standard b/blocks and red rocket fuel my line lay aint that great either my advice take stock and go back to basics best of luck

well done blindog i take my kids whenever i can and they love it when catching but often comlain about other anglers rubbish as we tidy up (going home with more bags than we came with) hats off to you mate on a down note my daughter misstack4 dislocated her kneecap today at her fist day at summer school (to ease them into the new academy life) well chuffed with her as not a peep out of her even when they put it back in but no fishing for a while
