I see this post is going the same way as several others have in the past. I don’t (thankfully) get to read most of Tunbridge Wells Angling Trust’s most famous member but, the clue for you ‘new’ people posting is quite simple, you don’t have to try and point out that he’s a T.W.A.T he proudly boasts the fact, if not by his actions then certainly by almost everything he writes, a proud and fully paid up T.W.A.T. OK so it’s a Boris thread but even if he put a thread up about a hairy three toed sloth being found on the M25 you can bet your bottom dollar it being found there was due to Brexit! Most, if not the majority of his dribble have already been discredited by fact checkers BEFORE he copies and pastes them, what chance do you think you have of convincing him he is wrong afterwards, that’s like lecturing a Bass on why it shouldn’t have taken your lure. A relative of mine just got a new job in Spain. But how can that be, Clod told us all after Brexit nobody would be able to get a job in Spain. A relative of mine just bought a new house in Spain. But how can that be, Clod told us all after Brexit nobody would be able to buy a new house in Spain. Same relative just moved to his new house in Spain to do his new job in Spain, he’s taken his car, but how can he do that? Clod told us after Brexit you wouldn’t be able to drive in Spain! But he’s pleased to see the beer and fags are a lot cheaper there JUST THE SAME AS THEY WERE BEFORE BREXIT. And no, he hasn’t had to get residence or an international driving license simply because fact is fact and clod is a (member of) T.W.A.T. But like you say, if Brexit REALLY had the effect claimed by the (member of) T.W.A.T. and that business was all ruined and everybody was on the breadline, struggling to keep their head above the water he wouldn’t be able to afford to go somewhat defeating his own argument, as usual. I won’t mention his Son who still (just checked the database today) is NOT a WO2. Dont listen to his shite about fishing either, lugworm and Bass come to mind straight away.

The Russian Soldiers are Neither Up for It nor Up to It!!

Not quite but it fits the narrative, the Totenkoph dates back to the 16th century and versions of it are also worn by 12th Hussars, US Marine Corps force recon.,and even a squadron of the RAF! To name but a few. Notably the badge of the Black Brunswick’s who’s spiritual land had been taken from them by invasion it specifically means, you have invaded my homeland and now we are all ready to die to kill you all. Part of the black flag raised by the Prussians at Waterloo also means NO PRISONERS, every enemy combatant is to be put to the sword, they had been beaten before but kept reforming and coming back. As with other things it was bastardised by the Nazi’s but it was never theirs to keep nor to claim. -
Didn’t want to put this in generic thread.

As promised, Phone’s obituary as published. -
Sorry to report, I have been informed this morning that Phone passed away last year. I’ve been promised a copy of his obituary that I will copy here in due course. I know others will join me in sadness this morning, another great character lost to us, I shall miss his banter.

Already in the Island Echo Ant, Cumbersome cumberbum is saying he is “looking at” putting up some refugees in his second or is it third house at Brook, he was, is, isn’t, might be, possibly, thinking of doing the same for Syrian refugees, but that was a while ago now and he might have missed the opportunity. Whatever he chooses to do the headlines will be repeated on here if he chooses to get on his high horse and slag off the govt. Clod will grab a few screen shots and once again stick his thumb up his arse and entertain us all with his support for the lovvies on social media who actually do nothing, he might also add that his son has recently been promoted to WO but hey, he hasn’t. Oh bum… did I say that again? best keep away from dark alleyways for a while. -
Didn’t stop there Ken. From the Register of Members Interests, House of Commons. Usually a better source than social media.

Welcome, but I have to say Rambo in a kilt is not an image I need in my head right now.

Bloody brilliant film Martin but I don’t think it’s been aired for some considerable time, can’t think why.

How can you bear to live here? Is it being so happy that keeps you going on a daily basis? you not voting for them doesn’t make your previous statement correct though does it?
-
Are you referring to Abramovitch (sp?) purchasing Chelsea in 2003 when BLiar was Bush’s puppet. Why do your posts normally contain references to genitalia, have you an unhealthy fixation?

I’d like to tap him behind the ear.

Difficult and complex issues to which there is no right or wrong path. I’m not a fan of sport so much these days, I never had much interest on the Olympics at all, I suppose a few decades ago I watched the boxing and judo because it was interesting to me personally as they were inclusive sports for me. Like a lot I think Politics should stay out of sport but that is a forlorn hope as politicians will latch onto anything when they think popularity will rub off. The old USSR was a different person to the current Russian Federation but the old self superiority still remains. Football, Snooker, Tennis, F1 and the list goes on, competitors attracting huge prizes and thus huge media coverage and you can expect them to include themselves and their own self importance into the political situation. I would have thought that fishing could escape that although that will possibly change if the popularity of programs like Mortimer & Whitehouse sky rockets with sponsorship and purses following on.

Dunno Chesters, Ewan Blair is reportedly worth a lot more money than his Dad, Tony Bliar, so you don’t have to be an ex PM to make dosh, kids qualify as well…

At least in our non democratic Country anybody can stand for election, in Frogland to stand as President you have to get 500 already elected people to vote for you in the first place, so the corrupt vote for who the population are allowed to vote for in the first place! Just like China, “here’s a list of approved candidates you can vote for, we call it democracy!” But China is a bit better than your beloved EU, they got a list of one person to vote for. Macron got +50% of the votes cast, not 50% of the votes available and then only after others were knocked out leaving just two candidates in the final round.

Is there a punchline missing?

He’s a narcissist who attention seeks, he gives no opinion except that given to him or quoted by others, by definition he will seek attention and respond to any and all replies even those telling him that nobody cares or listens hoping that the conversation will continue. Very sad life. As Chesters says, as I have said many a time, best to set him to ignore and enjoy the list of his postings where he, basically, talks to himself.

“Truly the eight bravest men I’ve ever seen.” On the night of the 19th December 1981, in horrendous storm conditions, the mini-bulk carrier ‘Union Star’ suffered engine failure east of the Wolf Rock. Refusing tug assistance, the ship found itself being swept towards the coast at Boscawen Point, west of the Tater-du lighthouse. The Penlee lifeboat launched from Mousehole in total darkness, 100 mph winds and waves cresting to 60 feet. A naval rescue helicopter from RNAS Culdrose found itself unable to lower a winch due to the strength of the wind, and it was left to the lifeboat ‘Solomon Browne’ a 47ft wooden Watson Class boat, to make the attempt to rescue the ‘Union Star’s’ complement of eight, which included the captain’s wife and two teenage stepdaughters. By this time, the ‘Union Star’ was just 300 yards from the rocks. Time again, the lifeboat, also with a crew of eight, made approach runs in mountainous seas, and the helpless helicopter pilot could only look on in the wavering rays of his searchlights as the tiny lifeboat was repeatedly hurled onto the ship’s deck, then swept off again but, in this way, its crew managed to grab four of the stricken ship’s crew and get them aboard the lifeboat. “We’ve got four off,” the lifeboat radioed to the coastguard as she prepared to make yet another run in towards the ‘Union Star’ then, as the coastguard repeatedly tried to raise her, there was nothing but a shocking silence. Only when daylight came was the devastating truth realised. The ‘Union Star’ was a capsized wreck in the shallows, and the lifeboat had been smashed to matchwood, with total loss of life – the entire crews of both the ‘Solomon Browne’ and the ‘Union Star’ had perished. The helicopter pilot, Lt-Cdr Russell Smith USN, was to write: “The greatest act of courage that I have ever seen, or am ever likely to see, was the penultimate courage and dedication show by the Penlee (crew) when it manoeuvred back alongside the casualty in over 60-foot breakers and rescued four people shortly after the Penlee had been bashed on top of the casualty’s hatch-covers. They were truly the bravest eight men I have ever seen, who were also totally dedicated to upholding the highest standards of the RNLI.” RIP: Trevelyan Richards (56) – coxswain, James Stephen Madron (35) – 2nd coxswain/mechanic, Nigel Brockman (43) – asst. mechanic & fisherman ,John Blewett (43) – emergency mechanic & telephone engineer, Charles Greenhaugh – landlord of the Ship Inn, Mousehole, Barrie Torrie (33) - fisherman, Kevin Smith (23), Gary Wallis (23)
