  1. "Start planning your own pro-fish campaign to help stop the suffering of fish and other aquatic animals. With your help, we can make a difference for the animals. Our demonstrations at fishing tournaments, seafood shows, fishing piers, and outdoor expos........" "1) Organize a demonstration. Choose a location--check your local paper for fishing tournaments and events (particularly kids' events) or find a fishing location, such as a pier or a bait-and-tackle shop on a well-travelled road. Contact PETA for stickers, leaflets, and posters. Use our "Guide to Becoming an Activist." 2) Start a campaign to ban fishing at a local lake or pond. Find out who has the authority to institute such a ban, then write a respectful letter explaining your request. Send a copy of the letter to local press with a cover letter explaining that you thought they might be interested in doing a story. Follow up with a demonstration. 3) Ask the Boy Scouts to Retire Their Fishing Merit Badge By offering a "fishing" merit badge, the Boy Scouts of America teach boys that hooking, suffocating, and killing animals is acceptable. " And so it begins........................
  2. Marriage is a Hire purchase agreement that sounds good at the time..... For some unknown reason at a certain stage in his life the contract............ "A pound deposit then all your money for the rest of your life" seems viable

  5. Don't they always Winter........... Obviously the two lads are placed in the hot spot by having to defend themselves. If you read the link you will see there is a preformatted letter ready there for you to fill in and report an obstruction of a RoW to your local authority, who, as I said are under a duty to investigate. The various form letters continue until the one which, after submission and failure to comply allows a member of the Public to take the Local Authority to Court (at little cost!) to remove the obstruction. NOT the landowner or anybody else. This was the change the Rights of Way act gave us in 2000 and is the one which will put a stop to all the hoogstrartens and Maddona's of the Country
  6. Lots of people in their posts refer to themselves as illiterate and thicko etc.......... If you think you are...... Try a few of these........ here [ 17. November 2004, 02:48 PM: Message edited by: Huge_Vitae ]
  7. 'Big Business' is NOT allowed to make up its rules in these circumstances Sanctuary. I think we are in danger of losing this case by being far too emotive on what is a simple matter. As mentioned in this topic, and it seems to me, clearly established that a right exists for users to be there for the purpose of recreation. I am not sure if the 'Offenders' were in the location mentioned as a right of way but if they were it seems that they have 'no case to answer' Please remember that in all cases where a Right of Way exists it may only be reclassified by the Local Authority (usually moved and seldom closed) and in extreme cases by The Secretary of State. If you find that your access to an area is unlawfully witheld THE LOCAL AUTHORITY (usually the Highways Department) has a duty of care in law to remove any obstruction and enforce your rights. It does not cost you a penny other than in your Rates but it may as well be wasted there than on other sillyness. Chesters1 quite correctly mentioned the Hoogstrarten case where a RoW was obstructed and the Local Authority said that they 'did not have the finances to enforce the order' How much does it cost to hire a 70 tonne Bulldozer for 3 hours........ I'll drive it. Worth looking at the Map of Difinitive Rights of Way which was made up a year or so ago. Landowners were asked to check on the RoW for their arears and comment on access. More info on RoW can be found 'from' this LINK

  17. I have finished my installation like this.... looking very neat, have increased my battery banks by wiring my existing 170ah batteries in parallel and adding two 85ah batteries as an additiuonal bank also wired in parallel so that I have 1 bank of 340ah and 1 bank of 170ah. All fed from the engines alternator. So far working very well as a 240 volt AC source but I have yet to install the actual microwave. However I have been able to install this on my mast..... Which is a 500 watt (or nine car spotlights) floodlight on my mast to take me along my fairway at night and avoid all the dingeys and mooring bouys. I will try and get a picture in the dark to see the benefits next time I am not out with the Sun!!!!
  18. A friend of mine tried this a few years ago. This is his boat........ She is a thirty metre boat which sleeps 12 in seperate bunks. He mainly got Dive Crews and then switched to using the boat as accomodation during Cowes Week when it is at a premium. After a few seasons he gave up the fishing charters and moored the boat up permanent and now uses it for B&B. The problem is with the weather and not the booze. Fishermen don't mind having a day trip called off because of bad weather. But when they have booked a few days (bearing in mind that the opportunity is limited) and have had to take annual leave, argue with the wife, Mother-in-law etc and book well in advance to have the trip cancelled because of bad weather, which happens a lot is a right bitch. Yes there are a few of such operating in the Med, Carribean etc................. But the chances of making a booking and being able to stick yo it are rare in these waters even in the summer.
