  1. Get the wind behind you and it would be a doddle Den
  2. Surely any fly line will look "black" against the sky unless it is truly transparent. Stick your head under the surface of the bath water and look up at a bit of line on the surface. Sorry for poking my nose in the flyfishing forum but I am bored Den
  3. Quite simple really; Tutti Frutti, Strawberry Yoghurt and Chocolate Malt, are the all time great baits, all available ready made. No guesswork needed, they have all caught thousands of carp. Even though other baits/ flavours come and go, if you put your bait in the right place then you will catch on those three. Den

  5. To true Dacer, I have long argued that different species should have different close seasons which can be varied according to the conditions, but it seems that you have to be either for or against, Den

  9. Mainlines, almost always braid now, bought for diameter ,not BS, as even the thinnest is plenty strong enough, Hook links, nylon, any BS from 1.8Lb to 3.0lb and then soft braid for anything stronger. I always fish the thinnest braid I can find subject to the BS, but have not tried them all. Den

  11. I am an angler, but I go fishing, which by definition makes me a fisherman. We all "go fishing", how many of us "go angling"? Even when we wish to state a particular preference i.e. carp, pike, roach etc we always end it with "fishing". So we are fisherman, but we practise the art of Angling. But then there are "Sea anglers", a term in very common use, so are they the true anglers? Certainly the game anglers can't lay much claim as they are all referred to as fisherman. 17. Why do I post?.....well first and foremost 'cos it is so easy! There was a period in the 60's/70s when I always seemed to be scribbling and then it all stopped for me. I started to post on BFW and joined in a few of the controversies, fortunately noone insulted me and when posters had to register the standard improved. Someone on BFW directed me to AN and funnily enough AN had a few nasty so& so's but most of the posters voted to register and it has all been good since then. There are many occasions when I am unable to offer any help, specially where choice of rod is concerned, most of my tackle is a few years old, and not knowing what is available means I have to sit back and wait for someone else to offer help. I love the banter and pleasant insults and the jokes, being a loner I dont get to hear many from anywhere else (sad) and I must try to show my appreciation more often, so look out for a few wordless graemlins. Finally we all need to talk and for me AN is talk, sometimes a very lively discussion, but it rarely turns nasty so I am not put off. Den

  19. Yes you can, but you have to lower your privacy level,go on line to AN and log in,have a look at one of the forums and then log off. Reset your privacy setting back as it was and the cookies from AN should be installed. Well that's what I did anyway, Den [ 27 February 2002, 11:38 PM: Message edited by: poledark ]
