    Pleb

Thanks for clearing that up. So he swore at them, one of them (at least one) thought he used the word "pleb" ? My god, the man should be hung for that My take on this is that there has to be an element of truth in the story, most coppers wouldn't care if you called them a pleb would they? maybe now, but not before this all blew up? Just what is a pleb that makes it such an issue anyway? The guy swore, copper got the 'ump, guy denies swearing, copper digs his heels in, guy admits swearing but not using the word pleb, so hopes it will all blow over. Some hopes as the Sun got the story The stupid copper who then got involved and "tried to help his mate" is/was a fool, and will be punished for it. I am not so sure that the coppers had any "political motive," just doing their jobs and having to put up with an arrogant MP on a bike swearing at them. They are, after all, just blokes trying to do a job, maybe a bit macho though..............goes with being an armed man guarding our gov't buildings and staff surely? All seems a bit like Clintons denial "I did not have sex with that woman" just a little blow job :) Den

    Pleb

Can I just get this right? Did he swear at the police? He may not have called them plebs (?) but he did swear at them didn't he? Swearing at a policeman is an arrestable offence...isn't it? Den
  4. C'mon Newt, tell them how you make those jugs of tea (if you still do that is ) Den
  5. Dave, I just spent several hours on utube watching that band. Fascinating to be able to trace their origins from a scruffy bunch of seriously talented buskers (trousers with holes in and shoes with no laces) into a real slick fully professional outfit. Some wonderful moments, like when she invites the old fella with the jews harp to join in.............didn't he do well In my teens I was in a skiffle group..tea chest base.......and had a go at the washboard as well..........I can still hear the drrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rat a tat drrrrrrrrrrrrrrr rat a tat, and best of all, the shuffling sound of the teenagers jiving on the wooden floor of the local village hall. National service broke us up, but we did get to play the interval at the Savoy cinema during a Chris Barber concert. Heady days Den PS, last time I played my harmonica it started my dog off howling
  6. Looking the other way at Hythe Den
  7. Milk first when tea made in a teapot (you can judge the tea strength) If using tea bags, then milk last as the water is cooled by the milk so not all the flavour is released from the tea bag................there really is a difference Den
  8. Hell of a good match though............one of the all time best Den
  9. I think Newt should chip in here He makes some REAL tea Den
  10. Thanks for the link Dave, Loved the "yes sir that's my baby" brought a silly grin to my face. Watching some more now Den
  11. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice one Cliff Den
  12. Used mine for weekend camping/fishing trips for a year or so. Couldn't control the flame, but did cook mushrooms and sausages and fried eggs plenty of tea as well. Seem to remember a pint of meths would last all weekend. Had a nasty disaster with mine, I was heating up some milk and took the saucepan off and knocked the stove over..............burning meths all down one leg and on the bedding................my mate tipped the saucepan of milk on the flames................most went on me! So I ended up in hospital with a very badly burnt/scalded knee. Still got the scars. Apart from all that, it worked really well Like Tigger, I now take a flask as most sessions only last about 6 hours on the beach, and I tend to have lots of little drinks. Den
  13. I had one of those as well used it for years until it rusted away. Den
  14. C'mon now, there is very little "sport" involved in shooting foxes, or any other small game is there? high power 177 0r 22 and a decent scope and you can't miss. After dark with a lamp and 4WD and it's even easier........Rambo doesn't come close And I really can't stand the guys(?) who shoot to feed the ferrets. I've done a bit of rough shooting in the past..........real rough, creeping up close so I could get a shot with a shotgun. or even closer with an air rifle............stalking wood pigeons in a copse requires a good deal of skill and woodcraft..............Sporting? Sport, to me, means the odds are fairly evenly stacked, definitely not even after dark and with lamps and scopes. Den
  15. Bit of a tricky one here (as a fisherman) but if it's warm blooded, then no way. Den
  16. Got a bit wilder than that later on Shaun.............fished that very spot today. Den
  17. Just after sunrise, from the kitchen window Den
  18. Barry, the OD's may be similar, but the wall thickness may be a lot different. Den
  19. Did a lot of testing/fiddling with different guide setups years ago. OK, not with mamby pamby spinning rods, but with powerful beach rods and carp rods. Even made the butt ring like a funnel of rings, tried using only a couple of rings and generally most combinations of different setups. Distances either did not improve or as in the case of the cone of rings (similar to the micro ones) actually severely restricted the distance. With a lot of experience with the tackle used, I was able to feel the resistance caused by the small butt ring. Not sure about patenting the idea though, the idea is pretty old hat Den Edit.. for what it's worth, the most success was with rings that stood off the rod, "inline" with the spool centre. Not very practical for a real fishing rod. I have replaced the butt ring on my beach rods with a high standoff folding ring, the line can be seen to pass through pretty well central without much of an angle which causes friction...................I can feel the difference as well when casting,
  20. That's why I got just a little bit excited Ayjay I had no size reference! Den
  21. Thanks lads I have been going through my butterfly videos for this year, and taking out stills "for the record". Came across this one and for some reason I thought it was a Tortoiseshell............ not your everyday one though, I thought it might be a Large tortoiseshell!. Good job I asked PS. my note book says "Small Copper" Den
  22. Thought some of you might know what this is.. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b148/poledark/201308141121212_zps2484774c.jpg No white spot on forewing? Den
  23. It's a no brainer for me. I have USED braid in various forms for most of my fishing life, and tried various "cheap" ones, most of which were suitable for my fishing. The one I ended up sticking with was Power pro, in various diameters, most of which is still on the reels and much of it 30 years old (or more). Going back to sea fishing I needed new lines and after a few months using mono I took the plunge and sent to China for some of the "cheap" braid..................I am certain it is the same as PP and so sent for some more...........and more...............grab it while I can was my motto I now have enough to last me my lifetime (I'm 75) in several different BS/diameters, and have saved a fortune. There is a growing trend in sea fishing towards braid, low diameter and high BS being the main attractions, but the bite detection is superb compared to mono.................I am using 60lb BS straight through, no need for a leader, and both my FS have been really punished over the last 18 months, and the line is still good. Lost a bit of colour, apparently you can't dye dyneema, but you can use a spirit marker to colour it youself, lasts a few sessions On my carp/barbell/roach spools I use markers to camo the last few yards. Don't let the word "cheap" put you off the Chinese stuff...........it is only cheap compared to the highly inflated prices charged in the UK. Every dealer wants 100% profit, the Vat man wants his share, and an item costing only a £1 or so in China ends up at £25 in the uk. The Ad men get to work with scare stories and some (not me) fall for it and are prepared to pay £35 for a couple of 100 yds af the same stuff I get from China at £5 for 300 yds. Ebay for ever Den
  24. The ones on the Kennet give each other piggy backs! I have caught them when my bait (luncheon meat) was about 12" from the bottom. Den
