  1. my local pond has exactly the same stuff. it is duckweed. with this weather it will die soon because it has happened to my local pond for a few years now and its annoying when it starts to build up in july, that sort of time because you cant fish it for the whole summer until it starts to die off in mid to late november to early december
  2. i've never used it (yet) but saw an article on it once in a magazine where they wrapped wire around the hook shank to weight it
  3. i get up and go in the winter because i love fishing!!!!!
  4. when a river is in flood isn't there certain conditions where it is better to target barbel and sometimes better to target chub? i read it in a magazine once but can't remember much more than that
  5. thats a nice thought. i won't be fishing but i will remember what those soldiers have done for us
  6. IMO its not even 3lb it looks more like 2 - 2 1/2lb to me
  7. looks like they've killed it! isn't carp a delicacy in that part of the world?
  8. i think the first fish is definatly a bream, but it doesn't look like 4lb though
  9. how do you get normans pond? is it an add-on or a download?
  10. preferably i like to use an avon rod for float fishing big baits for chub and barbel, but if i was stick float fishing for small chub, dace and roach/rudd with lighter lines then i'd rather use my 13ft float rod because it has a softer action whereas the avon rod has a more powerful action. but IMO the rod you describe is fine
  11. well the only record i have heard of is the 4lb 3oz roach caught in '93. was it '93? p.s i apologise if i keep going on about myself (see my earlier posts) but i'm so glad i caught one that size
  12. even a 2lb 8oz roach is massive! aswell as you, i should know, see earlier post i was well pleased, only thing wrong though, it was caught on 10lb line 2.75lb t.c rod and a boilie
  13. i've just been on holiday to a holiday park with fishing lakes in king's lynn, near norwich. had 20 double figure carp all week and a few singles along with my biggest bream and biggest roach
  14. i think it is the 4lb 3oz caught by ray clark quite a few years ago now. although i caught MY biggest roach the other day at 2lb 8oz
  15. yes, i rate the ESP tubing highly
  16. rabbit, do you think it could have been the bait you were using? perhaps they're used to or scared of corn
  17. TBH i don't think that tubing looks very good
  18. well done mate. bet you're well chuffed
  19. they say that pellets are less effective in winter because there isn't the sufficient water tempuratures for them to leak thier oils. also i think people say that fish can't digest them as easily. BTW what flavour boilie did you have your barbel on?
  20. a 3lb test curve is favoured by many carp anglers now but is also good for launching out deadbaits
  21. i guess we're not going to the same place then, i'm going to a place in norfolk
  22. are we all going to the same place or what  i was thinking of using a method feeder at first but thought there would be too much food in it for the fish this time of year [ 16. October 2005, 10:11 AM: Message edited by: fantasticfisherman ]
