    Trent

Dont know what the levels are like 'now' but last friday when i went levels were normal with just a hint of colour. It was quite a good day, lots of smaller barbel biggest 5lbish and a couple of bream. Also Dunham bridge and Besthorpe stretches controlled by scunthorpe and district AA, you can buy day tickets on the bank, good luck in your future trip
  5. One thing to mention when fishing the method is DONT strike at all the little knocks, wait for a really good pull round
  6. Yes mine do get commercial fish food, but they do also get all my left over bait (sweetcorn, casters meat, pellets, groundbait as i always mix up too much)a real balanced diet 'everything'
  7. That would be ToOoO easy but i do do some bait trails on my pond fish
  8. Grrrrrrr    Organised my first trip of the year to the Trent tommorrow havnt been able to make it till now. Looks like Im gonna get wet WHY DO I ALLWAYS PICK THE WORST DAYS
  9. Ditto 10-15 years ago used to get plagued with eels on the rivers round me. Now though its a different story your lucky/unlucky to catch a couple a season. There seriously on the decline They must all be being used for pike bait
  10. Prebaitings always a good way of getting some instant success, although been on the Trent make sure the bait goes in your swim not 2 pegs downstream Cheap options for baiting has to be Hemp maybee some corn too. Costs a bit more you could try halibut pellets for both bream and barbel
  11. Welcome to the board, sorry I cant be of any help but i'm sure someone else will
  12. Got the shipment of 500 koi fry today 6-8 week olds. What do you guys think, any good?
  13. Yep there deffinately is. You should see my tackle ------- didnt mean that But seriously i need to have a clean i think i carry as much weight in rubbish as tackle, at least i dont leave all the line and empty tins on the bank though its all in the bottom of my box
  14. Definately eels Only usefull as pike bait
  15. Yes a strange one this. Your right if it was a lack of oxygen or a ammonia/nitrite poisoning and many of the gill problems the symptoms are gasping near the surface. Have you examined the lost fish for signs of parasites etc? dont forget inside gills Hope you dont loose any more Netfull
  16. I expect your getting a reply like this one quote: We aim to deliver the majority of our fish between the end of October and the end of March, as during the summer months it is not possible to move some breeds of fish because it can cause distress due to low oxygen levels. Have you tried the ones advertised in the angling press [ 09. June 2005, 07:53 PM: Message edited by: NetFull ]
  17. Taken from another site although for a different problem, still food for thought quote: The fact that you mention that the barbs have suffered the worst confirms this to me as barbs are always the first fish in a community to suffer from low oxygen levels, [ 08. 18. Have you been using cleaning products polish etc near the tank? I think it could possibly be the water temperature been to high, warmer water has a lower oxygen content hence the increased breathing rate. Pentazona barbs should be kept in water 23-26oC (73-79oF) Decaying plant matter in a tank is not a good idea as it can foul the water, also are you overfeeding them (decaying food) both these can lower the oxygen content It couldnt hurt to buy a test kit too for ammonia, nitrite, etc
  19. On the trent after barbel, might even have a go for a river carp or two quote: I won't have to rush to get my peg as the stretch I am going to is lightly fished. The joys of private clubs with few membersI know exactly what you mean, its great
  20. Dawn because i've had some great catches the first few hours after first light, although i tend to fish dusk more just because im not a morning person yawn zzz zzz zzz
