  1. Bakers compleat dog food has hookable chunks in it no need to soak or glue they even sell bags of just the meaty chunks without all the other bits
  2. Drill and soak the 17mm hallibut pellets hook baits in salmon oil and use double baits with pva bag of smaller pellets both cats and carp love them
  3. Agree gardner rolling tables are good i started off with the small tables which are ok but the double handled ones are better to use and makes more boilies at once, look on fleabay plenty on there for sale all the time, keep them well oiled with vegetable oil save the baits sticking to the table
  4. Ive used a double sided box from B&Q for years cost about £10
  5. I use 15lb synergy mainline and 25lb snake bite hooklink, main reason i use stronger hooklink than main line is due to braid being much thiner than mono and in my opinion can have a cheese wire effect on the soft mouths and damage them more easly.
  6. Yes im sure any of the Nash boilie dips would be good to use in a mix
  7. Only visited it to see the place but from what i gather its got a silty bottom.
  8. Mostly doubles to 26lb i was told so is hardly a specimin lake and £20 for 24hrs to fish a puddle seems a bit much, although it is a prity looking "pond" with what looked like lots of features ie lilies and overhung margins i never fancied fishing it to be honest, but good luck and have a good birthday bash
  9. (I have tried a pipe with a plunger, but after an hour of this I am buggered, but still end up rolling them into a ball by hand.) Can you get hold of mastic guns? For compressing the mix you could get a empty tube clean out any mastic left in the tube and re-use the plastic plunger poke it out with a stick fill it with your mix,use the gun to squeeze out the sausages (without nozzle) and then cut to size and roll the balls?
  10. I would sa find the visible features like over hangin trees, moored house boats, turning bays ect and bait up a few likly spots and go down after dark with a 1 mil candle power torch and go lamping for them.
  11. I would never personaly make fishmeal boilies without adding shrimp block 1 large desert spoon per egg
  12. Double 22mm halibut pellets soaked in salmon oil worked for me in France so dont see why not here too
  13. First of all is that your mix just vitalin and fishmeal? Has this combo actualy worked and made good boiles? Reason i ask is i make my own from scratch and never used what you are suggesting so cant work out whats going to bind the bait together and would of thought they would break down too easly and come off, maybe with the addition of some semo, ground rice, soya flour ect would help the boilie mix to bind?
  14. Yes the Cat has 2 doors which can be operated 1 at a time or both together, you pass the lead and rig up through the door to your other hand, then close the door at the same time, put some bait in and so on.
  15. Dont know about lakestar ive never had or used one they maybe good for all i know, but do have a micro cat and it does exactly what i want it to do and have had no problem with it at all, depends on amount of bait you intend to use, procats only take small amounts at one time 1/2 kilo i think were as the cat can take small amounts or up to 4 kilos depending on how the carp are feeding at the time.
  16. Ive caught cats too 95lb in France using 25lb kryston snake bite with no problem
  17. As my post said there are NO big fish waters around localy, most of the lakes "if" you wont to call them lakes are small and not large pits and are mainly small fish waters, any large waters a round are trout ressies and fly fishing only But i could be wrong but doubt it
  18. (Anyone fish any venues, clubs, syndicates in and around bristol that could point me to some big carp waters) Depends on how big big is? if your looking for 40's then you will be best off heading away from Bristol more chance of finding hens teeth and as for 30's not many of them either,so will be better off traveling to gloucester, oxford, london areas
  19. There are many ways carp are atracted to bait, they can tell what colour your bait is by hearing the sound it makes with thier olfactory sence They can also tell what salinity level (salt content) is in the water its in and needs to adjust its own salinty level to be higher than the water its in so can also sence the PH our baits give off I make my own base mix from scratch and have not changed the recipe for the whole year, but i have changed the oils i add eg one w/e i had salmon oil in and caught well next w/e i tried the tuna flavoured? oil out of a tin of tuna and caught well, not realy tested fully but i believe its the base mix its self which they are attracted too,a lot of flavours catch the anglers using them IMO.
  20. It matters not a jot what others think to me using my boat, they are not the be and end all but can be an advantage and a useful tool, same as alarms to wake you up,bedchairs to lie on,line not cat gut,pva ect,i can understand the argument when people abuse them and take baits accross others swim or too near snags ect but if used in your own area and no carp are at risk i cant see the argument. If you dont like them dont use them and if you do then get one its as simple as that
  21. Nothing wrong doing that apart from the price:(
  22. Its all down to timming realy, the desired result is to make the maize as safe as poss for the carp to eat without swelling inside them. "If" you've tried to cook it till its soft you will find it splits becuase there is no way the husk will stay intact and keep whole. If after the (pre-soak)you've added extra water and re-heated the whole lot to boiling point(again) just simmer for about 15mins to half hr depends on amount in the pot it should not plit but will have swolen to its max and be fluffy/powdery when you open a grain up with your finger nails,if it looks like its cooking too much after you take it off the cooker(residule heat)cool it down with some cold tap water added to the bucket.
  23. About 1 large desert spoon per kilo of maize. I have a large boiling pot and propane gas ring so can boil a bucket full at once (you may have to boil a lot of kettles or sauce pans closing lid each time) I fill a bucket half way with maize bring the water to boil add the salt to disolve pour the salted water into the bucket and put the lid on tight,by morning maize has re-hydrated but still needs to be boiled to make sure its prepared properly
  24. I always put salt in when i cook mine i believe it brings out the flavour and seems to make it smell sweeter sounds strange but true Also i always re-hydrate mine using the salted boiling water and left in a lidded bucket over night and cook for half hr next day after adding more water which should have been soaked in during re-hydration.
