  1. Your so depressing chesters jeez man live a little
  2. Thanks guys. My best bird shots so far id say. Very happy with them. Was up today and all but two have gone now by looks of it.
  3. Bit of win 10 and photobuckets fault. Photobucket has always been a resource hog made worse by the increased requirements of windows 10. Could try disabling javascript on photobucket using the firefox plugin "Noscript" it might default to a simpler layout
  4. It happens on it quite a lot like anywhere else. Id ditch the lures in favour of maggots plus the pike fishin realy is crap on the canal imo. Look for moving water (inlets/overflows) for perch. I Havnt fished it for a while.
  5. I always set my baitrunner just loose enough thay should a fast moving fish suddenly decide to stop dead in its tracks i dont end up with an over run effect causing a tangle. Though yesterday i jad to resort to using my float rod reel on the quiver which has no baitrunner. I could use the anti reverse switch but that imo would cause a tangle but managed ok as was plenty time with the tip swinging around to grab rod before it went in had a common to about 10lb
  6. forced windows updates put an end to it. best thing to do is ditch the cnuts while there down.

    swallows

I have watched these little fellas from conception to leaving the nest. we now have somewhere around 20-30 of them up at the fishery so finally took the camera up before they head overseas we had some nesting up above the door that would near take yer face off if you were standing near it, often they would come in the cabin and fly around the log burer a few times maybe check out the kitchen then straight back out. what a delight word of warning though dont poke an abandoned nest after they have left it. MITES ARGH! ffs! all the pics are great but heres my favourite!!! watching one preen itself just as I took the photo one comes in overhead. Perfect! Wit ye lookin at! a little gutted I missed out part of the wing in this one (took it standing so a bit shaky at full zoom)
  8. was reading earlier today about some new microshaft antics on win 10. forcfully installing "recommended" software, such as candy crush (A game I think ?) and no disabling of adverts in software. they really are turning in to a bunch of cretins, scratch that, they are a bunch of cretins.
  9. ive noticed the forum search doesnt go back more than a few years. I sometimes have more luck using google and putting in site:anglersnet.co.uk/forums after my keywords
  10. Ive used small thin strips of electrical tape a few times to hold on the chemical 'snap' ones and also tied them on with power gum. Both work well for those opportunistic times you need one.
  11. There is a 32bit version. I heard they are phasing it out but surely not this soon? http://www.ubuntu.com/download/alternative-downloads still supporting 32 bit dont download ubuntu kylin. Its the dodgy chinese version they were made to create so they could provide to china.
  12. Never heard of it. Maybe linux mint. Thats anither popular one. Why wouldnt it install ?
  13. Dont know sorry. Maybe the windows key on the keyboard will invoke the start menu ?
  14. The ubuntu installer (on its desktop theres a shortcut to do it) handles setting up dual boot quite nicely. If it detects another OS itgives options to setup dual.boot. Dont talk to me about opening laptops! I just wish all the screws were exactly the same. Once made a customers look like it had brail written all over the plastic facia surrounding the track pad because of the length of them
  15. Not sure what the deal is with the hybrid boot thing. Probably writes to some part of the disk not normally written to during shutdown hence ubuntu not able to load it as its not in a normal state (feck knows) so a power cut wouldnt affect it so not true hybernation ?
  16. Glad you got the pics. It does sound like a dodgy hard drive being a bit hit and miss when transferring files. 1gb should be fine, though i wouldnt expect it to work miracles it will be noticibly faster than xp. I did actually run a vm in ubuntu loaded with windows 7 and was running both adobe illustrator and photoshop at the same time. It did struggle at times and i kicked the arse out of it but i was rwally impressed how it managed all that on less than 2gb. When you get it up and running stick libre office on it. Its as close to ms office as you will get and loads all ms office files. You can also change the gui of ubuntu kinda easily, but i quite.like the default unity gui although finding programs can be a pain as its not like start menu on windows. Use the very top icon on the side bar. Something else to consider is disabling the amazon search scope if its not been done by default already. there was talk of it being removed in new versions of ubuntu, the community didnt like the idea of amazon getting their keywords in that file/program search on the side bar.
  17. Try small transfers. Something odd going on with the laptop/hard drive i reckon - my documents - desktop - etc etc
  18. Fast eh that was one of my first nice surprises with ubuntu. The pending one might be because of the hard drive if its showing signs of failure or maybe a lack of ram since ubuntu is running from the ram instead of hdd it might start when the other is done.
