  1. I would still rather try and stick my twinkie in it
  2. And do what with it ? shove your twinkie in it ?
  3. no motivation either, worked since october on a trout fishery come pike fishery during the winter, fished it for all of 2 minutes with the lure rod. im hoping the tench will stir me up this year
  4. Had two botia striata for a while now (golden zebra loach im certain) they dont look like normal botia. More like candy stripe or yoyo loach. Anyway. One of em keeps chasing the other away under the filter but the other is looking to cosy up to it but other is having none of it Pretty neat fish they click like clown loaches when they are feeding oj certain things.

  7. then ill pull the plug and go watch porn
  8. The sooner they get rid of bbc the better. I could quite happily do without it, even more so since they moved bbc three to iplayer. I now get family guy and american dad on itv. Dont care about the ads. It pays for itv to keep going as it does others. Time bbc f'ed off.
  9. Fair weather anglers, dont know what yer missin
  10. I cant comment on the rod license for down south as im up here in scotland which doesnt have a rod license. as for clipping on rigs, no not really. its quite simple. you thread your line through the rod, slide on a float to the desired length, pinch on split shot either side of the float to hold it in place, put more split shot down the line and tie on a hook. sorry I cant go in to more depth on that but someone posted a good diagram on the other post you started
  11. No you wont need a shock leader, thats very heavy stuff for banging out large weights and pre-bait/ground bait (spodding) a considerable distance with heavy rods designed for it. for the type of fishing you will be doing with a waggler (float) for the small stuff such as roach rudd perch a 4lb mono would be more than enough. daiwa Sensor is a good cheap bulk line to get started with.
  12. A little more info would be helpful. what make and model of reel what kind of rod will you be using it on what will you be fishing for what rig will you be using
  13. Some of you might have already seen this, its hitting facebook like a sh*t storm. for those that dont know Kenny Sloan got this on video sometime last year and managed to get IFI to stop the gill netting after showing some absolutely disghusting treatment of auld esox by fishery staff. Sadly they didnt cease the netting for long and are now back at it Have a read of the video description before playing. 22 pike, 18 of which rammed in a teaspoon of water (ok a little more than that), 4 died. took them all the way back to their base to be "measured" only 3 returned.
  14. Im sad to hear of your loss steve. My heart sank reading that As for counselling I had no bother getting it years ago when i was low. Infact less than a week it took for me to get an appointment but my gp says they are getting an awful awful lot of cases. Wither thats people who have suffered silently for a long time finally seeking help or people just recently finding themselves with problems ill never know. I was hesitant to speak to somone about my problems years ago but did eventually find comfort in off loading my crap (for want of a better word) and somewhat beneficial knowing they wont judge and guide you towards thinking differently but positivly rather than my negativity and anxiety over the simplest of things.
  15. Theres no doubt it can help others but its not for me imo talking does more good in my case but I was months and months away from being able to talk to a professional talker. im always a bit weary of medication even over the counter pain killers. strong believer of your own body should sort itself out more so with the mind but thats not to say im anti medication like religious nuts and those homeopathetic believers. I wont take antibiotics unless im really not shifting the infection.
  16. taboo for sure, theres things ive experienced past few years I still dont want to talk about to anyone. PTSD was what the doc says, take these pills he said, couple of months later no thanks I said, dreams.... reality.... both the same I thought. maybe they still are I wonder. help me they can ? can they ****. ill take it day by day but maybe not tomorrow.
  17. Carp rods will be too heavy for anything smaller than carp such as roach, rudd or perch. The way I learned was with an affordable (£100 all in for rod reel floats weights) setup for these smaller species under 2lb in weight (roach, rudd, perch). They are called float rods or waggler rods, 12ft long, 4lb mono mainline to a size 20 hook and a single maggot. It doesnt get any easier (well you could look at small elasticated whips and pole floats). It's probably the best to start with if you want to unwind as its not overly complicated such as fishing 3 heavy carp rods and the sometimes overly complicated rigs and methods used to catch carp, I cant believe I just said capr and complicatred in the same sentance
  18. You carry a gun for protection, your about to get mugged and pull out your gun and point it at the mugger and say your not going to use the gun its just a deterrent. Put yourself in the muggers shoes, what would you do ? im against the nukes btw. what a stupid idea of a "deterrent"
  19. http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/8299906-elton-newt-why-do/
  20. I assume its in the settings somewhere, then again perhaps not. defo try removing it from startup, click start, Run, type msconfig go to startup and find that bugger that way. I wouldnt put it past the gits enabling it again next time you load chrome though. perhaps it was literally released at the time you got the update. its a strange one for me, never seen an AV with that sort of feature and I use avast.
  21. Google use a seperate update downloader program that runs in the background all the time. disable updates ijn chrome then remove the updater from startup. for what its worth though I think Avast is being a little paranoid but its good you seen it otherwise it woulda just kept auto downloading.
  22. Sort of. If a-n is on shared hosting then the forum software/backend cant go to any path other than one within: /var/sites/a/anglersnet.co.uk/ when posting, something is still trying to access /home/anglersn/ (attachments or something) im pretty certain that will be an old directory from old host. It will be defined in a config file somewhere and needs changing. Server then tries to access the old path and instead of an ordinary 404 it pretty much says Woah hold on your not allowed that directory, btw its not even within your sites root dir. open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/home/anglersn/public_html/forums/uploads) is not within the allowed path(s): (/tmp:/var/sites) in */var/sites/a/anglersnet.co.uk/public_html/forums. Prevents directory traversal in shared hosting where someone could see all your files like config files containing database connection info
  23. Forum configuration error id say. Something pointing to an old directory from the previous host and the new host having a different directory setup. Nothing any of us can do.
