  1. Yea I reckon so. Its a nicer looking stretch and seems to be a bit more active fish wise. If you could get his ticket that would be great.
  2. Glenn, make sure you get some liquidised bread along with you and half a loaf for the hook. If you don't fancy that then you can always stick a roach on the end of your pike gear and try and get one out.
  3. Its stories like that that make me feel that it would be very tough for fishing to end up being banned. The revenue it generates for the EA means that if it came to the crunch they would fight to keep it as it is. However still doesn't detract from us having to keep on top of our game and ensuring that it never happens.
  4. I went to the upper stretch that the Amalgamated run there after speaking to someone in the tackle shop about it. No chub in there, although I missed a few ripping bites but that was because I was wearing the thickest gloves possible and couldnt grab the rod. Thought it was more important to keep my fingers than catch a fish. It is a lovely stretch and I will be putting a lot of time into it. Did also get to meet a local fisherman who knew the whole stretch and gave me a run down of all the swims for summer and winter and how to fish it.
  5. Went on the Bristol Avon yesterday up at Malmesbury in the freezing conditions and the Roach were feeding. Managed a few upto about a pound and a quarter so they were feeding. So was the Pike that tried to take on of my Roach. Managed to save it, but I don't think he liked being bungeed out of the water onto the bank. Did tell the Roach that it was the luckiest fish in the river whilst the Pike looked up at me from the margins, probably feeling very annoyed after I took his tea away from him. Talking to fish though was a sure sign of madness setting in from the cold. Wont be going there again until the weather warms up a little bit. You are right though Chris. Even though it has been cold the fish have to feed sometime. Its not always the temp that's important for fishing but if its been settled for a few days or not.
  6. I am off Roach fishing tomorrow on what is quite a tough stretch. Last time they didn't start biting till later in the day so I may spend the early part on a stretch upstream where I have seen some decent Chub who look like they would love a lump of cheese. Will update with how I get on.
  7. Jerry, is it the bag about half way down this page you are talking about? http://www.korum.co.uk/korum_web/Luggage.html If so, I have got one. Only used it a couple of times but can't fault it so far. Ample storage and protects everything really well.
  8. I think we may have to have another fishing trip soon. Me and Glenn were talking about going after my first Barbel but I am not sure if the cold snap we are having would make that a tough job. I am going to Malmesbury again on Friday to target these roach now that I have a better idea of how to target them. Let me know if either of you are up for a trip. Or anyone else in the area for that matter. Sorry - seems I have hijacked this thread a bit but back to your point I can ask in Veals next time I pop in there. See if they have any details.
  9. Don't eat the coffee ones. Sorry mate, can't help you as I have never been there but I am sure someone on here will be able to help. Enjoy the trip and let us know how you get on.
  10. Guys. Could do with some help myself. Going to a stretch of river again shortly to target some of the larger roach which go over 2lbs. Want to fish bread for them and just wondered what tactics you would use and also hooklink strengths and size hooks. etc.
  11. Catching a chub on the river at the bottom of my brothers garden I reckon. Managed to find a coupe of slugs in the garden and was explaining to another brother of mine how chub usually take slugs quite quickly. Didn't even finish the sentence when the rod wrapped round. Was only a couple of pounds but the simplicity of it all and seeing the fish take the bait was fantastic. My brother then did the same a couple of minutes later. Hoping to find some slugs when I go fishing on Wednesday so I can do it again.
  12. Rabbit, a trip sometime would be fantastic. Would be good for an old hand to show me the ropes on the Avon. How easy is it for you to get down there? It's usually ok for me to get time off work as long as I have about a weeks notice.
  13. Rabbit, one other thing. Would you target the roach on the feeder or float?
  14. Jeepster, the Friday is the 13th. Would you be able to make that? Glenn, I wouldn't mind going somewhere round Keynsham again on the Friday. Reckon with the right tactics there is a good bag of roach on the cards. Rabbit, cheers for the advice on Malmesbury. Will take a box of mags and worms with me as well. On the subject of the pics. How do I get them on here? Do I need to make some form of payment to upgrade my account?
  15. Rabbit, just to pick your brains a bit more. How did you target the roach? I was looking to take a bucket of mashed or liquidised bread and a loaf for bait and do a spot of roving.
  16. The Amalgamated have two stretches I believe. The one that goes throw the park in the town and the one slightly more downstream. The 2nd one is the one I will be going for as I have been advised of some good fish in there. Will try and find the email that I got about it. Have you ever fished Malmesbury before?
  17. Myself, Glenn and Jeepster hit the River Chew yesterday for a New year trip and I thought I would post the pictures of there trout. I also managed to catch a small Grayling, my first however we didn't get a picture of the beauty. All in all a fun trip and I am looking forward to fishing there again sometime. Glenn and Jeepster. I am looking to take next Weds and Friday off work. Will be going to Malmesbury for a roach hunt on the Weds but open to go anywhere on the Friday. Let me know your thoughts. Ok, can't get the pics on here yet. Bear with me.
  18. I would have loved to have gone fishing on boxing day however with the amount i eat and drank I would have had problems getting through the gates to my swim.
  19. The 2nd would be great for me. Fancy the Chew as I haven't been on there yet. Also looking to go on the 11th as I fancy another birthday trip.
  20. Well I live in Bristol so its not a place I can make regular trips there. However after seeing it I will have to fish it at some point. Could maybe get the South West guys on tour up there. Its only an hour up to the M4 so will maybe plan a trip in the spring. Got some winter fishing to be done on the Bristol avon first.
  21. Hello, I was on a train back from London on Saturday and due to some work is took a diversion on the route via Newbury. This took me along the Kennet and the canal for quite a lot of the journey. It looks a beautiful river and I was just wondering if anyone on here has fished it and what it is like.
  22. Rabbit, thats the other reason we wont be moving there. With the current prices I can see it being a box at this rate.
  23. Glenn I was trying to talk up Keynsham quite a bit with all the fishing spots I would have round there. However it would take far too long to get into work every day from there that I would need the whole weekend on the bank to relax.
  24. I went down towards Chewton today as I was looking at houses in Keynsham and managed to get the missus to make a detour. The extra rain has changed things a lot and it was flying through when I saw it. A lot of the road was flooded. Does look a nice stretch though so will be trying to fish it soon. Think I also saw the cows that Jeepster was getting friendl with. I'm sure they were asking after him.
  25. Gutted to be missing out on coming along as well but the slave drivers are calling once more. Hopefully I can get out onto the bank before the really cold weather sets in. Have a good trip.
