  1. Sorry Blian. But the rest of the post is good.
  2. I think it happens when conditions dictate. Its not something that has a regular cycle.
  3. Well maybe Elton thought the last line was a bit risque but it was good enough for Prince Phillip Blian.
  4. Who said there was a british whaling fleet? Not me Not sad or mad brain just amazed at the similarity in attitudes. Like our commercial fishermen the japanese deny that the stocks they target are in trouble. Like our commercial fishermen they bend the rules to line their pockets. Like our commercial fishermen they see it as their right to take what they want from the sea and bugger the consequences. Still if you cant see that brain you are probably better off playing the racist card. Funny how people do that when they can't find a valid answer to a valid question. I asked if british commercial fishermen are related to the japanese whalers because their attitudes are identical.
  5. In todays daly mail there is an article about japanese whalers and greenpeace. You have to admire the courage of greanpeace. But the interesting thing is that japan is the only country still hunting and killing whales in the southern ocean whale sanctuary. This is totally illegal. The japaneese fisheries minister has refered to minky whales as marine cockroaches. The japanese see hunting and killing whales as their right. Starting to sound familiar? They say that their people enjoy eating whale meat and it is worth a lot of money in japan. The japanese are denying that the whales are an endangered species even though the rest of the world has admitted that they are. Sounding ever more familiar now isn't it? The japanese can continue to kill whales in the protected area due to a loophole in the law which says that some whales can be killed for scientific purposes. But they have killed almost a thousand tons of whales this year. They flout the rules by having a scientist on board the boat who takes a few samples before the meat is diced and boxed ready for the market. So they knowingly bend the rules to earn money while continuing to exploit an endangered species which they deny is in trouble. I seem to have heard all this before. {line removed by Elton}
  6. Thats one of the best pies Ive seen all year. Well done.
  7. Thats it blame the martians now binatoon. You lot do make me laugh sometimes. Cluching at straws or what. you and wuzel should be on stage together.
  8. If they do then the next punishement should be a jail sentance and their boat burned.
  9. A 200 pound mackrel would out fight any fish in the sea.
  10. Nice one five bellies Very funny I would think a 200 pound skate would be like winching a double wet matress up the eiffel tower. 200 pound conger would be a dangerous animal to have in a boat
  11. I stopped winter codding after the 1998 season. Should have been a great year after the 1997 season but it didnt hapen something hapened to all the codling from the 1997 season and they never came back. The writing was on the wall then.
  12. Only been using the forum a short time but can see that it is always the same people involved in any aggro. Funny how the same people are the first ones to protest there inocecnce as well. see above. When they are not stirring trouble they are goading people into reacting. Seems like its a sport for them. if I was one of the mods I'd ban them as they are not worth the trouble they cause.
  13. I was going to watch it but I had some bin bags to count. Maybe I'll get to see one of the repeats if I dont have a fruit bowl to arrange or something.
  14. Sorry about using a silly name........................ NORRIE
  15. Not on this forum he didnt. The lad would make a good politician.
  16. You never did explain how you pulled these big skate over the gunnels of your boat holt.
  17. Finished mine today. It'll be in tomorows post so I voted that Ive responded already.
  18. putting it in basic terms you are paying for a lesson in how to use the radio. The test is to make sure you haven't been looking out the window when you should have been listening. If you didnt get the required pass mark they would go over it with you to make sure you did. If it makes you happy I'll rephrase what I said. Only a donut would fail one. There you go.
  19. Is norfolk too far north hadrianthebricky?
  20. no ones ever failed one sam. turn up pay your money job done. Big fine if you get caught transmitting without one. They do check occasionally as well.
  21. Norfolk coast is the nearest place to the south east that is producing regularly. Go north young man. Old man?
  22. Not a bad guess then from someone you say didnt have much experience of big skate. Within 10% is pretty acurate for a guess Id say. You must be pretty good to give a more accurate guess just from a photo. If I remember right he was fishing for thornback rays when he hooked the big skate. Probably explains why he was using light tackle. Still an achievment to land a fish that big on light tackle. Still dont like gaffs and dont see the need for it flying or otherwise. t bar at the side of the boat. Job done. I'm sure the skate dont give a dam about the statistics.
  23. Wow.unbelievable. What a fishing achievment. Thats why Alan yates is one of the top anglers in the country. I met him once. Very nice man as well as a top angler. If I remember right the boat he was on had a door in the back so the fish didnt have to be hauled over the side.
