  1. Hello Wurzel, We all respect the fact that the commercial fisherman has a living to make, but if undrsize fish are hauled up, presumably dead, then I am left wondering how the commercial fishermen will make a living in the future? It's a fact that there are very few Cod left to catch, and it's got to the position that commercial cod farming has started up, but I can't see it being adopted on amassive scale, large enough to counteract the depletion of Cod stocks. The seas are after all not a bottom less pit and the fish will run out just like the oil,the difference being that the Cod are almost exstinct already!

    Save the cod

Where are these Cod that want saving? Do they really exist? Trips at £45.00 a head, that produce not one good size fish, lead me to beleive that the latest trawlers are fitted with the Dyson? Super Duper Cyclone Cod Scooper trawl kit, and that nothing is left to save!
  3. Have an Ambassdeur 9000 for sale!
  4. Yes have phone number for Penn Servicing. E-mail me
  5. Hello Bullericay, Or should we call you Angus from Aberdeen, Please see my posted reply It's up river from Coalhouse Fort
  6. Hi "Sam Cox", The "Cow Patch, is up river from Coalhouse Fort, East Tilbury, At this time of year you can expect a rather long muddy, possibly shitty walk (the cow patch is used as open grazing for cattle, hence the name, mostly Flatties now with the chance of a rare codling, some whiting, dabs if you're lucky. Tight Lines, "Old Hooky".

    15 And 16 Feet

Must depend on your casting style, and your physical capability, my 13' SandStorm gives a better cast when using the " overhead". 16' would take a bit of getting used to, and then how big is your motor mate? Can you get all the extra length in? Are you talking two section blanks?
  8. Hi Elton, Did'nt hear of this, what was the Old Boy doing out on the mudflats in the first place?
  9. Hi Simon, Mesh Size is, and always has been, a "Bone of Contention", and the problem is, if minimum mesh sizing is introduced ,how is it to be policed. Successive governments don't seem to know or are at least lacking in interest. Oh sure, they sometimes make the right noises, but nothing is being done to ensure that the immature fish have a chance to get through the mesh size and therefore get to achieve a sustainable size. Quotas get introduced, but how often do we see trawlers coming close in and going way up our rivers and estuaries? The commercial fisherman has a living to make, but if greed is left to prevail over common sense then the seas will indeed become barren! Those of us still crazy enough to fish the Essex and Kent shorelines are already seeing the severe decline of our fishing, whilst charter boat prices remain high, and the catch rate is declining.
  10. I'm left wondering how you managed to have problems with all 3 reels, with a bit of attention your reels should never jam solid, none of my Ambassdeurs have ever let me down, and I'm wondering if your problems are caused by sand ingress into your reels, a rinse out with a gentle flow of tap water cures this!
  11. I would suggest that you talk to Veals Mail Order of Bristol, they are Coleman main stockists, and may be able to either solve the problem,or at least help you. Incidently do you experience any corrosion problems with the lamp's base? Maybe this is confined to the Powerhouse lamps,a great pity that Coleman don't use brass for the lamp base
  12. Where did you get your bait? We picked ours up from Southwold and it was not much good, watery tanked lug. Do'nt you get fresh bait up there?
  13. Hi Peter, I've only once had problems with reel service, and that was when the put their repairs out to a sub contractor. A reel (not mine) was returned, looking like it had done many tours of duty in Bosnia! After a heated telephone call my reel was returned. But I must admit I've only had good reports of their service since they went " in house"
  14. Bloody good job, it comes down to sheer greed and irresponsibility! Lets grab all the fish, bugger everyone else, and who cares if the fish can't recover. Unless the sods are stopped all our seas will be barren, but let's also get the Foreigners as well!
  15. Basically A rod ringed for a multiplier has more rings and they are usually of a smaller diameter as the line does not leave the reel in coils, like a Fixed spool. A rod ringed for a fixed spool reel, has less rings and the ring are of a large diameter to allow the coils of line coming off the reel to flow with out being hampered by being restricted. hope this helps. I don't feel that you are going to get much of a rod for £50, unless you look for a second hand rod. Try and see if you can find a good second hand 13' Daiwa Sandstorm.
  16. Hi Cousin, First of all, are you like me, and take everthing including the sink with you? I have invested in a Shakespeare "Seat Box Sherpa" which converts my tackle box into a rucksack, which is an excellent piece of kit which is quick to fit and remove, and needs no drilling! Also it's so much more comfortable than having a tackle box slung around your neck. Now scale down your kit, me I now only take 6 sinkers in stead of the usual 1cwt, Seriously Leon, only take what you will need ,not what you might need! With the greatest of respect, you know your stuff better than me or anyone else, but see if your cousin can be of some help?
  17. Hi Cousin, I can reccomend AVG antivrus as it's free and works really well, and you'll get all the updated dat files downloaded automatically.(Grisoft website) Don't use Norton what ever you do, it embeds itself every where on your hard drive,is an absolute nightmare to remove, and does not work anywhere near as good as AVG. A so called virus free Harddrive( as stated by Norton), was tested and found to have loads of viruses & trojans, which AVG detected and removed.(I've got it on my PC, so it has to be good) Also install Microsoft Antispyware, it's also free, from Microsoft. (CJS Computer services is my mate's company)
  18. The R.N.L.I. will tell you, that the greatest number of fatalities occur, when getting out to or returning to shore from boats!!
  19. Hi Cousin, What a shameful state of affairs! I've heard of people being tricked in to returning to their cars to find all their tackle gone when they found out they have been "conned", but to be robbed at knife point, is unbelievable. Please send "Podge my condolences for his lost tackle(I hope it was insured), and tell him that us "Old Sods" over here in Essex, decided that was unsafe to fish at night over here in Essex some years ago. What is the world coming to, I thought it was quite a quiet back water down your neck of the woods.
  20. I think shore fishing is crap generally. North Yorkshire, Scotland seem to be the only places with fish. I still rate boat fishing in Ireland, and want to fish around Donegal.
  21. Yo Man, it's all about selling papers. Those of us in the know, discovered that the only things you can believe in papers, are the date and the price. I rest my case.
  22. Right, is there a model that incorporates a fish finder and brews a cup of coffee in under 10sec? Now that would be really useful
  23. Yea send it To Abu, as they now do their own servicing, and will also have the spare parts needed.
  24. Was down there some years ago but to dive on the bomber, not to fish. Long way to come from Essex, How's it fish in the Summer?
