  1. !!! Isn't it mysterious that two of us post similar topics with a 3 minutes interval !!! Being at such a long distance from each other (me in Russia) See: trolling at gloaming/ never walk at night !
  2. A local guy, who took 5 pikes (max. 4lb) on a lake by trolling yesturday, said it all happened at gloaming, during an hour before it was completely dark. This is the second time I hearof such a thing this autumn, so I'd like to read of anything similar from you, friends.
  3. I am sorry for being so late with the answer to your question, Peter. The Moscow cup was followed by the 6-th Russian Internet Fishing Cup last Sunday, so I was busy with training (this time my result wasn't very good). As for the unweighted hook tactics, it was hard to use it because of high wind, 5-feet depth and very speedy fishing. At internet Cup I tried to move the shot two feet away from the hook, but many times had the bloodworms sucked out with no notice of the bite. But still I had some practice with this method before in course fishing and consider it worth using when fish is very "delicate" taking the bait. You can see some pictures of competitioms in Moscow here (me at # 1168) and in the middle of page here web page Best wishes,
  4. I was 30-th out of 50 at Moscow cup. Good result for me fishing with a 28- feet whip at high wind while other 49 used poles
  5. I'll try this method on Moscow championship on this weekend.
  6. You can make maggots softer and change their "flavour" by feeding them with fruit yoghurt (wrong spelling for sure).

  8. Hello, Peter ! As for my results in competitions this year: I feel that I'm getting old . Competing with the leading Russian matchanglers on August 1,2 I was 46-th out of 60. Have to put on spectacles when baiting a hook. By the way, 95% were using poles, while I was " whipping" Still looking forward for the next competition. Some pictures how we Russians compete see here http://www.nalym.ru/fotosab.htm Tight lines ! Nicholai [ 11. August 2003, 10:22 AM: Message edited by: Nodin ]
  9. My farther said, that its time to finish fishing on that session when a dragon-fly takes a sit on your rod
  10. If you can see carp crouising, you can try to take it with "across the water" method, for which you'll generally need a partner. Connect two main lines, fix a hooklength to the junction, hook a floating bait. Then one of you goes to the other bank (at reasonable distance) and both of you can put the bait just on carp's head by simultaneous reeling your tackle across the water.
  11. Two anglers sit on the bank. - How do you relax in this hard life? Wine, women, drugs?, asked one. - I simply don't strain myself, answered the other. [ 23. April 2003, 03:22 PM: Message edited by: Nodin ]
  12. Danny K, you can tie your camera to the tree and use your fishing rod to press the push button
  13. In fly fishing glasses are really a must, and sometimes I really think about ear protection when I hear my fly passing by. In course fishing I use or remove pollarized sunglasses depending on the position of the Sun.

Hello Tinca61, the place is 200 miles north of Moscow. You know it is much colder here so we have Mayfly in the end of June. When they appear in clouds at Dawn or Sunset all fish comes up to the water surface, like roach that you can see on the picture/ Awaiting that time!
  15. Speaking about one-day session, I can say from my own experience that if the weather calms down by 4 or 5 pm after a windy day, you may have very resultative fishing this evening. [ 03. April 2003, 08:16 AM: Message edited by: Nodin ]

  21. Merry Christmas to our Anglersnet community!!!!! ---- Be careful showing how big the fish was, when a glass of whisky is in your hand !
  22. During the long and cold winter I shall be missing my river very much. I cross it to tie the line to the bush on the opposite bank and practice my favourite "across the waters" surface fishing for chub. [ 14. December 2002, 01:10 PM: Message edited by: Nodin ]
