I went to get roof bars for the van today (renault traffic) I had already priced them via renault and thought that Halfords would be a cheaper option, how shoked was I !!!! Halfords wanted nearly £194.00 for 2 roof bars, the bars were £31.00 each then they added on things like the fixing kit .. errrrr should that not come with it, then the brackets, again - should that not come with it ? so i told the guy i was off to renaut, only to be told you wont beat that price SIR ! - Sir indeed !!!!!! Renault supplied the lot for £95.00 the pair and dead easy to fit (need another one thought) so on my way back i returned to Halfords just to show him the price... You got trade was the reply ! - i wont tell you my reply Elton will get upset with the langauge

Bill, email me the pics you cant upload and i will host them via my server for you -
hi Wayno, I am asked the same questions everyday of the week, so you are not on your own, however rods are made for a reason and lots of tests and so on are carried out on most. A beach rod is just a beach rod and should not be used on a charter boat at all, not only for the obvious reasons of danger to fellow anglers but also down to the nature and build of the rod, as you have said most charter skippers will hire out the required equipment, many have the standard boat rod and reel and to catch your species these will do just fine, uptiding is a skill that needs to be learnt and again i have anglers that are going on charter trips saying that the skipper has recomended and uptider, yet they know nothing about it, I always advise the standard boat rod (madness really as i loose a sale) but better to be able to sleep at night knowing i have given the best advice. A beach rod and reel combo (12 foot rod and fixed spool reel) will cost you around £45.00 A boat rod (uptider) and reel can cost you from £60.00 - £200.00 Most tackle shops should give you sound advice ( I hope)

Well 1 year ago today my heart was pumping and other parts twitching, it was the day before i opened my own tackle shop , It had been closed for a week to allow me to rip out the old and put in the new as well as re stock and re merchandise the whole shop, a week is not that long i kept getting told, but with thanks to the lads and friends the shop was transformed and ready for the opening, all as planned. 1 Year later and ....... its bigger and better than ever before, but i reckon i have aged about 10 years

Hi Bill, thats a Shakespeare product, dont carry that much of thier stock, if you cant get it down your way then let me know and i will order it in for you, as for the stable for my steed the garage will be the place but the wife seems to think that this means that the kitchen that has been sitting in there for the last 12 months is going to be fitted sooner rather than later - how wrong they can be

I had a situation many years ago, and please forgive me if this has already been brought up as i have only read the original post (lager tends to make you loose focus), i had a bailiff arrive one day for a debt of £5000.00, i was shoked as there was already an agreement in place that was legal and binding saying that i had to pay zero unless i earned over £12k, then i had to pay according to the sliding scale, anyway he gave me a little advice, and that was to make a complaint to the "original" order, saying that i was being hassled as i was not earninng what was agreed and nor had i been - the result was it was then cancelled as it was seen that they had broken the agreement / law whatever it was - and i was left a happy bunny as 1 month later i was earning 28K a year , i do stress however that i would have paid back the original 5k but they broke the agreement worth looking into the people that helped me was the local clerk of the court at the county court office.

turn the radio up :-) I have gone for roof bards as i dont want them on all the time, I have ordered them and should be here in a week or so. -
Bait via the postal service would work out expensive as you would want next day delivery, what bait are you looking for ?
-
if you are using 80lb Braid then unless you are casting over 8oz you are not going to need a shock leader, one thing to remember is to use some mono for the first few turns on your spool, that way the braid will not slip on the spool, what i would use is a 40lb - 50lb rubbing leader of around 3ft so that if you get into a snag it will break away.
-
Brave Man !!!! Although saying that as soon as mine is all sorted i bet i dont wait either, who needs the when you got dry gear on
-
The age of the internet and it was easier to talk on the phone :-) Thanks Again Bill for all your help

thanks lads -
Soon to be the owner of a said Kayak, I am now needing to get it around, I have a Renault Trafic Van only a short wheel base so it cant fit in the back, however I can get roof bars (hopefully) i dont really want the full roof rack as i want to take the bars off when not transporting the Yak (i can then get through the barriers on the Mersey Tunnel ) but searching around i have found that there are cradles for yaks etc, or is it perfectly safe on just the roof bars ? Chris
