I think the maximum reach of the fire services aerial platforms in London is 32m (approx 11storeys), when I used to work occasionally on the cradles on the flats doing building investigation work we were told if anything happened above 12 stories you were screwed as the fire service had nothing that could go that high, however that was a fair few years ago so things may have changed. It also should be noted these buildings were built in the 70s to building and fire regulations of those times and any updates to these regs are not necessarily retrospective.
