  2. Have to agree with 'coarsefish-torbay' but another little hint that has nowt to do with hooklengths is winder colour, instead of faffing around with a marker pen or stickers on em i use the same colour for different diameter lines ie red for 0.16 and white for 0.14 etc etc (but i store my hooklength less)
  3. Not proper fishing indeed! they used poles before reels were invented {just thought id point that out}
  4. P.s jusy remembered a couple of carpy day ticket waters if ya get desperate there one in a little village just off the m1 called hemington and then theres 1 at a pub called coopers arms if there any help.

Fished bestwod and sowbrook in the month before the open season, you need a key to get in to the carparks pip as for the fishing only fished no1 pond on bestwood and i have to say i was a tad dissapointed with the tench fishing {3.00am starts didnt work} only had the 1 about 5lbs but plenty of small skimmers and roach similar with sowbrook but was only fishing for the little un,s had about 14 lbs in 4 and a bit hrs to pole fished maggot hope its been some help.
  8. Just read my membership book and it doesnt say anything about not allowing ppl to watch you fish, and yes there are day ticket stretches open to non members but are covered by the club book, But i would recomend you getting the key for fishing the ponds in close the close season

  11. Start fishing just off the deck if i were you and work your way up maggots seem a good bet or you could try the good old caster for the quality fish,feed more than 1 line so you can alternate between catching areas as well e.g 6mtrs and 10 mtrs or 10 oclock and 2 oclock and good luck let us know how you get on .
  12. Going a few years back yes trev, as for now not got a clue the in pegs were just behind the hump on the opposite bank to the trent
  13. Only the 1 in nottingham that i know of budgie but it might be a tad to far its just of junction 26 of the m1 ill supply details on a need to know basis lol
  14. Dont know if drennan still make there clear groundbait feeders but if you swap the lead round to the other side you have a flat holeless face that planes up through the water {used to use them like that at holme peirpont to get up over the cable that runs through it}
  15. They all used to be a similar style jason but now a days you have the hollow core laggy and so on but in the numbers you say id stick my head on the line and say yes
  16. i agree about it possibly being the carp remember fishing some matches a few yrs ago on a obscure pond full of carp from 3lb to 20lb and at the weigh in my net was full of half digested carp fry(the only fish in the lake)

  19. just come back after a bloody hard mornings fishing at gunthorpe wier {about 15 pegs below} had a few on the stick and feeder but more interesting was the fact i caught a brown trout of about 10 oz most peculiar does this mean the salmon run will be next?
  20. And ask for a discount most little tackle shops can reasonably compete with these big tackle giants, and if any thing goes wrong its a lot easier to take it back down the rd than back to inverness!
  21. Looks like the trent for me too rpm where you going?lol all set up and ready to go just got to dash to the tackle shop for bait and a few last minute purchases before the footy.

  25. I know all the above have there pros and cons so just thought id ask what all of you think? going on the mighty trent tomorrow after chub and barbel or whatever happens to swim past my bait, and ive just got thinking about hooklength materials, the old match angler in me cant help using mono when fishing baits such as maggott and caster but when it comes to pelletts, meat and bolies im sort of scratching my head as which of the above to use {wishes it was still the 80's when ya just had bayer for stick float and maxima for owt else} thanks chaps
