HUGE TURBOT

Recommended Posts

I WAS OUT FISHING ON A CHARTER ON SATURDAY

AND I HEARD OVER THE RADIO THAT A 30LB 1 OZ TURBOT HAD BEEN CAUGHT BY A PRIVATE BOAT IN GUERNSEY.

CAN ANYONE CONFIRM THIS TO BE TRUE ?

IF THAT IS THE CASE THEN I THINK IT WILL BE A NEW C-ISLANDS RECORD AND ONE VERY HAPPY ANGLER

I thought Turbot went much bigger than that, they are a big species.

In the sixties, I witnessed a 17 pound Turbot caught on Dungeness beach. It was the size of a dustbin lid! It used to be really exciting fishing Dungie in those days, you never knew what was coming up. Big Sunfish used to be washed up there as well.

Now, it's tiny Pouting.

 If the lucky/skillful angler sends details and picture he could win a reel. :D

It was caught by a chap called Justin Roberts who's boat lives on the pontoon next to mine. A friend of mine speared a 31lber whilst diving last year, it was a foot thick !
