Hi boilies,

as you are down in July and do not want to go to far away, go to Sandown pier.

Fish off the end of the pier for Mackerel and the odd Bass.

There is a tackle shop in Sandown as well (Scotties) it is in one of the back streets. I shall try to find the address for you and post it here later.

Anything else you want to know let me know and I shall see what I can dig up for you.

Tight lines.

Hello Boilies.

You could always try spinning from the pier? An under-arm flick should get you far enough out, to have a successful retrieve? Much more fun than lobbing a worm out and waiting?

Or try float fishing with mackeral strip, might get a decent garfish, great fun on light tackle!

Off the pier you can probably get mackrel using light spinning gear. Good sport. You could also see the odd bass if you are lucky. Someone else mentioned Scotties, never been there myself although I have heard good things about them.

Let us know what luck you have.

Hi Boilies

I agree with Spasor, I would have to recommend the float fishing for mackerel and garfish. It is the business on regular freshwater tackle, 6lb mono and carp hooks. I would like to suggest an option to mackerel as bait though, try a fillet of sandeel as they are cheaper per pack than mackerel.

Anyway good luck in the summer, I will be out there chasing the garfish as usual too.
